ok folks...

in december, we spent two pages discussing the merits of the "edited on date" line at the bottom of edited posts.

now, we're on page five of "discontinuance of stars". i suggest a new rule. time available to post on this subject should be spent at my house laying track!

see you guys soon. thanks to this stupid atkins diet, there's plenty of pop, beer, chips, cookies, and pizza going to waste in the kitchen.

calvin.

all ages welcome. bring picture id for the beer.

This is all fine and dandy, But!!!

What's your address? I'll even bring the shop-vac

This forum is supposed to be a medium for communication of ideas and information.

Don't you all think that this thread has no real significance here?

The monitors of the forum put the stars there to show participation. The users will determine the quality of the content. Petty bickering over stars is a total waste of our time.

That's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

With all this time spent on stars, politics, teenagers you would think that your LHS has run out of railroad kits or something. May be it has something to do with the extreme cold and lack of snow this winter. But it does make intresting reading some of the time. Two more and I will be at 50, do I still get a star?[:D][:D][;)]

get rid of the stars??? why not, I've said it before... the stars should be replaced with little baby trains:
1-50 posts: you've got an engine
51-100 posts: you've got a coal car trailing
101 -200 posts: box car
then tanker, flat car, ...............
you get the idea
and
when you get beyond 36 years, Norboy will arrange for a caboose[:D][:D][8D]

seriously though, since I'm still a rookie / novice, I have learned a lot of new model r/r skills from each of you. thanks, g'day, and cheers.[bow]

I vote "baby trains" [:P][:)]

cheers, krump

Maybe Mr. Krump is onto something here! but instead of little trains, I'm thinking Discount points at the LHS. I know a little incentive like that would sure spruce up the place. The grumpy old men might even get smiles on their faces. Yep that's what we need frequent thread points!

All those in favour say Aye

All opposed..........

Come on guys can we get serious for a moment! after all I'm sure we all have better things to do than annoy the Grumpy Old Men Club. After all this has nothing what's so ever to do with model railroading. I know I have better things to do, but hey procrastination works too, after all it is an art form in it's self, isn't it? I'm sure if we can't get this under control it could invariably turn into the longest, most annoying thread to be written. But we must be serious about it as this is serious stuff!!!

That's 102 who's next

I propose (move) that "CP5170" amend the title of the thread (only he can do that) to "discontinuance of stars......or how to increase your post count in a hurry".

Could we have a seconder, please! Vic... Fergie..... where are you?[8D][8D][:D]

WAAAA! WAAAA! WAAA! You guys got to much time on your hands..You will get the attaboy comments and off topic opinions with or without the stars and post count showing..I believe you need to wake up to that fact or find a serious forum where nothing is alllowed except the answers if the moderators agree with what you say.

I really like the idea about the trains instead of the stars. After all that fits the forum better. After scanning through this thread again I see that most of the post have two or more stars. Is there any significance to this? Are newer readers to this forum more interested in railroading then continuing this?

You gotta be kidding! They just haven't found out yet what a ball we're having with this looney thread. It's taken on a life all of its own.[:D][:D][:D]
You know once in a while a goofy thread like this, is just the ticket. It takes the edge off. Much better than arguing about which railroad is the best. Or for that matter if it is railroad or railway.

You Said It. [bow][bow][bow]

How many threads are there for "Which Loco Is Better, Big Boy or Allegheny" or "Who is Biggest" all saying the same argument over and over and over again ad nuaseum. (hence my attempt at driving a nail into the coffin of "biggest loco" by revealing the lost legend of the atomic Russian "Big Joe")

Come on guys this is supposed to be fun, even if we are taking about nosensicle things like how this ridiculus thread has taken on a life of its own, it just prooves were not so serious as to not have some fun with it.

There are plenty of "serious" threads on this forum. Over on the Trains.com forum one of the most popular threads is devoted to posting humor and jokes, so the rest of you out there, Lighten up before your arteries harden[:D][8D][8D]
