Athearn BB GP38-2 awaiting DCC decoder. Layout improvements have been at a standstill the past couple of months what with the income being low. Bills come first. There should be more money coming in December. The first purchase will be a few more decoders.

I'm thinking about expanding the layout some more... better head down to the lumber yard!

As always, nice work guys.

Lee I really like the lumber yard. Very nice. Thumbs Up [tup]

Well for the past couple months I've been working on a Diorama of mine. I would like to get some more supplies for scenery, maybe even ballast tomorrow (I know, I'm dreaming). Hopefully I can get some pictures on Sunday. Hopefully it doesn't snow.

WCFan...great looking progress.  One word of advice, though, keep the ballasting till last.  Ballast should go on top of any scenery you may want on your layout.

Thanks. Yes I do know I should put my scenery down before ballast, that's why I said I was dreaming! Laugh [(-D] Laugh [(-D]

Here is a shot I entered into a contest last week.

Not nearly good enough to place, but I was happy with the result.  Playing with depth of field is an interesting challenge.

Thanks, it was really designed for photos. The lead loco is a P2K WC SD45 6588, second in the consist is another P2K ATSF SD45 5547, the last locomotive is an Atlas Matser GP40 WC 3005.

Hope you are all enjoying the long weekend.  Here are a few more pictures of DDW.

Another view of the engine facility and the main line coming from Tokyo.  That's a C57 stopped on the siding with it's coaches.

This resort is the major destination on my layout.  You can either drive there or hop on the local that makes several runs a day.  People come from as far away as Tokyo to enjoy skiing in the winter and fishing/swimming/hiking in the summer.

The main station.

DonaldAgne, your photos are fantastic.  A pleasure to see.

Below a Pennsy K4s chugs up a grade as it tows some older wooden passenger cars on a local run.

In this next image, quite self explanatory, the same train as seen from inside the tunnel.

Finally, an FA2/FB2 set that must have plowed through some near liquid clay during a rainstorm somewhere back along the run.

Yes, as always, good work from everyone.

Simon, that scene you entered is really good!  The building the painters are working on looks like it is getting a new "coat".

In the last weekend or two there has been a thread about making cheap grass.  I've been experimenting.  Thanks to hminky for his tip about using a shaver and thanks to SouthCoastRail about the chalk tip - that was magic.

First shot - the samples. The left one is a "mitt" ($3) I picked up at local grocery.  The others are free samples from Mendels (thanks loathar)

Second shot - using the tips and the left hand piece in the sample above. The mainline and siding are a bit of a mess right now as the ballast is still wet and has floated. It will be cleaned up when dry Smile [:)]

Tom

Tom  is that track bent or is it just the way the pic is.  it looks like there is a dip in the track where it comes across to the lower one.

I f I,m correct how did you do that without kinking the track?

WOW! What scale is that, UKguy?? I could never put induvidual nails in stuff like that!

Jacon; amazing shot!

Selector; I love the tunnel photo!

I don't beleive I've posted this before:

The depot is too close to the tracks, a fact I discovreed when my CP wide vision caboose scraped it! Nothing else hits it though........ I don't have problems with it, just annoying. Unfortunatly, I installed scenery and glued it down before I discovered this, so now the depot is permanatly connected to the ground!Whistling [:-^]

It's just the picture. All three of those tracks are level and on the same plane.

Very quiet...must be the holiday weekend thing.  So, if it won't be overstepping, I'll post some more images.

This last one is an attempt to simulate a night shot.  I call it Last Light at Seneca Falls.  I havent gotten into the details of setting the shutter speed and iris on my camera, so this had to be done in low light.  Depending on your monitor and settings, it may seem too dark to see much at all, but on my monitor it shows the engine clearly, if quite darkly.  Anyway, I hope it works for you.

Still working on the highway. I sure hope this doesn,t offend anyone. Remember the old days when good old dad used to drink and drive and nobody knew what a seatbelt was?
