I check my PM's a couple of times an hour when I'm on the forum.

I'm sorry, it's too late now.

When I didn't hear from you I just went ahead and melted all that classic imported brass down and sold it for scrap.

Got a great price, considering it went by the metric ton.

I never check the private messages either, just did and there was one from August.  On another forum I participate it, a highlighted number shows up after the private message link, indicating you have one.

Thanks for the tip!

I have always gotten an email stating I have a PM. Maybe under the profile options you guys need to select "recieve emails"?

Could be how the message is sent; at the bottom of messages there are buttons for "E-mail" and "PM".  I have gotten messages that were sent as e-mails, they come as being from the Forum.

I'd hold off before doing that! Shock [:O]

I might be totally mistaken, but I seem to remember that when I accidentally enabled that option after the July 2006 forum "upgrade", I started getting email messages every time somebody posted to a thread that I was participating in.  My mailbox filled up really fast, and I had a devil of a time turning it off.

That's something different. What you're describing is email notification to post replies.

Email notification to PM's is just that. You get an email when there's a PM for you.

Jeff, and where exactly is that option?  I don't get e-mails notifying me to PMs even though I have e-mail turned on.  The only other button I see is turn on e-mail notification for every single thread you have ever posted to everytime another person posts there resulting in a hundred or so e-mails a day.....  This is all I see concerning e-mail on the Profile Options page:

Receive Emails:
YesNo
Receive rich (HTML) emails
YesNo
Enable Email Notifications of replies to your posts.
YesNo

I have e-mail turned on and Enable Email Notification of replies to your posts turned off.

That is exactly what I have, and I do not recieve e-mail notification of PMs.  I do recieve e-mails from people through the site but not PMs.  And yes, I have PM turned on.

Edit: It actually could be an ISP related issue if Jeffrey does get the notifications and others don't.  In the Forum accross the street I had to open a Yahoo account to be a member as My ISP seems to think they are sending Spam and theirfore blocks the site. (OTOH, I get daily ads for ED meds and Insider information on stock options from someplace in Liberia and they don't bother to block that crap.......)

When I had my account here logged under my old email address I didn't get any PM notifications. After I changed it over to a Hotmail account I started getting the notifications.

OK, that may very likely explain what is going on then.  Very probably RoadRunner is blocking the particular server that is used to send the e-mail notification of PMs.  For some reason, though, I can get e-mails (I think) from this site....??????

I just sent you a PM and an e-mail using the icons at the bottom of the message you posted.

See if you get notifications of them in your e-mail system.
