Jeff, come on! Think!  There was never a statement about posting only a pic of the completed project.  The comment was to wait until the project is completed before posting pics.  You've never been one to post just one pic.  That's the time to tell us about what you did, provide a pic or two of it in progress and then a pic of the completed project.  Oh yea, when it comes to ballasting there's no difference between the pic with wet glue and the pic when its dried.

Mark,

I thought you gave him some very sound advice last weekend.  Very rational, very well thought out.  Oh well, some much for trying the tactful approach.

Don't get your hopes up Mark. He only meant LAST weeks weekend photo threads.

Gentlemen......

There's a place here for all sorts of photos.  Some choose to post completed work.  Some choose to post work in progress.  Some would rather wait until it's all done, and then put up a complete photo essay.  They're all interesting, maybe not to everyone, but many of us enjoy watching how things go from "without form, and void" to a completed model.

Right now, my "little girl" is out at a fancy dress party, with black dresses on the girls and handsome outfits on the guys.  We've got photos.  But, we still like the ones of the little toddler taking her first steps in the sand of the Atlantic...

Jeff,

It would be better to wait until you have completely finished your project before posting pictures of it.  BY posting pics of the project half way through you have given the impreession that things were completed when apparently they were not.  Also, as was stated last weekend, maing one post about the project instead of a running commentary throughout the weekend would be more appropriate.

CABOOSE PROJECT IN PROGRESS

I am presently changing my caboose fleet to more closely resemble the prototype.

The rear track with four cabooses: Bachmann's caboose shell is based on Burlington's NE-12 way cars. I have repaired and repainted 3 of 4 train show "junkers" to look like CB&Q's silver cabooses.

The second track with three cabooses: Athearn's coupla cabooses are really Santa Fe cabooses painted for Burlington as well as many other roads. I have repainted one of my "Burlington" cabooses for ATSF. Two more to go.

The front track has two of my Walthers wood CB&Q cabooses. I have two more on the layout and another two awaiting installation of detals and grab irons.

must have been the shots then that made the paper look heavy.  My mistake.

And as a just because:

I like the moving bits Cool [8D]...

I had the power on so the drivers were barely moving, and used a 5 or 10 sec exposure without any special lighting or anything (just the flourescent ceiling light)

and FYI presario - I'm not supporting Jeff in any way shape or form.  Just trying to give CONSTRUCTIVE criticism... so bugger off

Jeff, I don't think using that heavy of paper was a good idea for the locos in that it does make the patch job (I'm assuming that is what you were trying to do) look "wrong".  Maybe try a lighter duty paper, say plain inkjet paper and then sand down the "back" side to get it to the "right" thickness.

.

The paper can't be any thinner. It's airmail paper (#5 weight) which is thinner than onion skin paper. One of these days I have to get some decal paper that actually works. I tried the Walther's stuff and it was an absolute disaster.

Nice looking backdrop you got there. I also like the clean look of the grain silo. Very nice.

Thanks, Crandell.  Your excursion sounds fun.  The weather here is rainy and windy.  Hope that your trip on the 2-8-0 has better.  Maybe you will have some pictures to share next week.

John,  I always enjoy shots of the Keddie Wye.  You have done such an amazing job with the Bragdon Foam.

Jon,  As usual, your layout give the rest of us something to shoot for in quality.

UP2CSX / Mark R. and others,

The loco in the fist photo I posted is NYC/PL&E Mikado #9519.

Sorry about the screw-up in labeling the second photo. It is a 'tourist scene'  contrived to fill an empty spot in my downtown area.

I edited the original to reflect the change above.

Keep up the good work everyone. You are always inspiring.

Remember its your railroad

Well, it's the weekend and it's a photo, but I don't know about the fun part.  I've decided to tear apart and redo a portion of my layout.  Thankfully, the only things completed on it were the track work and wiring the mainline.  I hadn't gotten around to ballasting or scenery work yet.  This is a picture of the area .

There was an aisle on the backside of the table that was only 17 inches wide and it didn't have a backdrop behind it.  I didn't like either of those facts, so this is pretty much the way it looks now...

I oughta be up and running trains again in... maybe 2 or 3 weeks.. depending.
