I have five steam engines, each a fairlyaccurate model of a prototype Maine two foot gauge steam locomotive. Only five, not fifteen, not fifty-five. Five.

I don't comprehend how you guys can possibly need the numbers of engines that you do. Some of you own more motive power that some Class 1 railroads. With a total mileage in the units, you have no need for that many engines. Most of them must be gathering dust.

If it is a Diesel-electric and NYC had it there is a 95% chanch I have it. As you can well imagin NYC had quite a few different diesel-electrics before their demise. I roster about 75 diesel electrics either painted in NYC, P&LE or D&MR. I also have 3 Niagras, 3 hudsons, 2 Mikados 2 0-6-0s, 2 0-8-0 and probably some I forgot. The ones I use on the layout is about 30 and most have sound.

Plus one rubber squeeze toy 0-6-0 my wife got me to put in the shower for some reason. She must think I like trains. It squirts water and is one of the Thomas the Tank engines---but I am not sure which one. I also have a smattering of O Scale (not Lionel) and some N scale, in assorted road names.

About 4 or 5 years ago I got fed up with maintaining a large fleet of mostly brass steam locos, and moved the era of my large, operation orientated freelance road from 1949 to 1965(ish). Since then I seem have acquired about 50% more diesels than I used have steamers..........

Ah well, so it goes, I've just moved and have got less space now but have it in one chunk rather than spread out over three basement rooms, so I may prune this list, but this is it as it is now. About half of these are serviceable and DCC equipped but not necessarily painted, the rest are works in progress.

If they are in their original boxes, that is a good start for info. otherwise, post some pics of them here.

I have around 100 athearn BB kits... I'm currently downsizing, so now I only have
2-8-0 consolidation
AC4400 BNSF (new logo, trying to sell it!)
Amtrak California F59PHI (trying to sell it too)
SP 4449, GS4 daylight
BN F45
Daylight F7A (power)
6 daylight F7B's ( dummys, most were damaged, 2 are in my chop shop siding, cannibalized)
cannibalized F7A

Need?!  Need?!  What does "need" have to do with it Shock.   BTW - At the moment my entire roster is in storage. Hopefully they are all well packed enough so that they are NOT gathering dust.

You could post pictures of them and ask for people to identify them.  If they are diesels there is a book called "The Diesel Spotters Guide" that is most useful.   I have two copies, one on the reference desk and one in the car for use in the field.
