This might not make a difference with mainline locos though, as they're built to MU with each other and have matched speeds... All this is the prototype though, the models will be fine...

Oh well, lol, these GP9s are due for rebuilds anyways, they still have their gear from the 1950s (for the "prototype"). So, the three for mainline work were rebuilt w/ lower horsepower engines and AC traction systems, but kept externally the same, to preserve history.

The AAT. I've been reading in Trains magazine about all the other shortlines getting new power, so here's my story:
The U23Bs have been serving well, but with the EPA's new emmision requirments (exempt for shortlines though, I tihnk, IDK), and the rise in gas prices (a few months ago, ok, not now, where you can find it under $2), the AAT realized their U23Bs weren't making as much money. So they went to SC, GA, and the EPA, and got money from each to purchase new, EPA tier-2 requirment meeting locos. And looking around, they decided on the SD70ACe. So they bought three new ones, numbered 1,2, and 3, m.u.ed a GP9 to each, moved the U23Bs to smaller jobs, moved the GP9s to smaller jobs, and so on. The only locos that kept their jobs were the two high-hood GP38-2s for extras and the GP15-1 as the plant switcher for Savannah Soda Co. They recieved them just before gas prices plummeted, but they are helping so much, they'll have hauled enough to pay themselves off in no time.
There are 12 trains along our line daily, and 6 at night. So, we'll call the sets #1, #2, & #3. The trains are three soda co. frieghts, from Augusta-Aiken, then back, three times in the day. That's for set #3. #2 and #3 both haul opposing road freights 3 times daily and 3 times nightly. The GP9s are on there for 2 reasons. #1, to provide a cab looking forward so the SD70ACes don't have to be turned, and #2, to provide an extra boost at the beginning to get the train moving quicker.
Tyler, thanks. Yes it is a new run P2K GP7, so hopefully I don't need to worry about cracked gears! Also, NS does have SD70ACes, but they are the DC version, so they are called SD70M-2s.

You might try using regular latex house paint, like the kind you'd paint your home walls with. That sticks to styrafoam great.
does anyone know the best way to paint tunnels? the paint will not stick to the inside walls of it. im using styrefoam.

QNE does not function on trackage rights and changing histories for a single freelance railroad to fit into other's schemes just doesn't make sense. QNE's entire purpose is to shorten the route to Southeastern New England from Canada connecting the former CV directly to the P&W, making the Bellows Falls to New London route inherently obsolete for through traffic. Keep your railroad to NECR connections and leave QNE be.

My layout is still a work in progress (for way too long). I dont have any pics, but i can get some. I model the stuff that runs around me, so its a mix of stuff. Ive never given scratchbuilding a try, but im considering trying some locomotives and cars (most NJT stuff isnt modeled in HO- ALP 44s are out of production, and there are no models of ALP 46s or any of the coaches although walthers made Horizin cars which are the same as the Comet IIs, a GP 40PH-2 or GP40FH would require some kitbashing.) So far i have a NJT F40PH and a NS GP50, but im going to a train show in afew weeks so im hoping i can get another locomotive or car or whatever

Formanek: I would seriously get some mini bulbs from Miniatronics, I've had problems with, and many others have found that the Athearn mini bulbs on the Genesis units and the replacements burn VERY quickly. I don't have any problems with the Miniatronics mini bulbs.

Anyways, I have a few projects too.
I have 20 Autoracks and Autoparts Boxcars that I need to make boxes for. I just picked up half a dozen Banker's Boxes, and they'll do the trick, along with some foam.
Also, I've been lighting the ditch lights on my St.L&H GP9, and let me tell you, it's a pain in the ***! I've only drilled the frame, and started drilling the TINY deck mounted ditch light...

Nope, camera batteries are starting to die, and I'm too lazy too go take them anyways. Would have to get my desk lamp in there, because the lighting is terrible. Might have some soon, I'm gonna bike up to Food Lion and get some isopropyl alchol and white glue Friday (basketball practice tommorow, and it's about a mile each way or so to the store).
The Algoma Central Scheme is one of my favorites...as long as it gets kept up! The SD40 and SD40-2s where starting to get kind of ratty by the 90s, but the Two ARC GP40s looked LOVELY!

MY GOSH, I ACTUALLY DID WHAT I SAID!!! Yeah, finally got off my butt, painted the dern thing, and got turf down. Now to get some white glue so I can secure the turf down. And i actually did more, got my music crankin on my MP3 player and boom, got a small engine terminal and tiny yard down, lol. Probably won't scenic them though. Also found my woodland scenics road ruler, so now I can get the country road I wanted to add, lol.

The RS3 is a friends loco. Nothings wrong with it. I'm just hoping to figure out how long the driveshafts are in it. Getting the driveshafts from a Kato RS3 would cost less than half as much as getting the NWSL kit for making driveshafts.
My project loco that I'm looking for driveshafts for is a GP35. It's one of the athearn RTR ones that I got as a dummy. I put a buehler motor and the worms from a newer athearn in it, so I just need a driveshaft.

Hey guys. Here's a very bad joke, but in my case, it's true:

Went through and ditched some old jeans that I don't like (rarely wore them, got 4 new pairs of Lee carpenter jeans, the only jeans I wear, lol), and he can wear 2 of 3, one size is too big, lol. i'm a 36x32, he's a 34x2. But I'm not fat, he's just got a smaller waist. Also, he has an old pair of my shoes and some of my old pairs of shorts.
To keep this train-related, my b-day is in less than two weeks, and I should hopefully have a bunch more equipment (namely a U23B, 4 boxcars, 2 hoppers, dbl. door pikestuff engine house, WC maroon paint, EL yellow paint, and a few other things). My mom's b-day is this weekend though, hewr's is one week before mine (if you discount how much older she is than me).
Thanks guys! Alex, that was my third try on getting those doors right. I screwed up two times because of miss planning. So it probably took around 4-5 hours. Now I'm out of things to really do as I don't have the doors that go under the radiator. Maybe I'll make the cab sub base, I already finished the cab.

Alex, he means the styrene rods you suggested for use as a drive shaft. I was confused at first too, because I had just seen Jordan's styrene body for his SDL39 project.

The LHS isn't very good about keeping their stock of styrene up. Usually it's just 1/4" sheets. If I can get a measurement off of a friend's Kato RS3, I might have found a fix.
