For some reason, I like watching the weather on certain news channels more than others.  Can't put my hands on the reason though....

I like NBC-2 Chief Meteorologist Allyson Rae.

Not only is she very attractive, she is brilliant, and a serious nerd. When she is on the 11:00 time slot she talks a lot about the science behind weather forecasting and really knows her stuff.

I don't know how many have actual Meteorology degrees.  In Indy, Angela Buchmann is the same way.  In her younger years when she was even more attractive, IMO a real knockout, she would sometimes talk about how much calculus she had to take to become a full meteorologist.

I really don't care what degrees they have or what they look like.  Nor do I like them blathering on and on about why things are happening.  And usually the length of the blather increases when they try to explain why their prediction was wrong.

All I want to know is whether it is going to rain or snow, and how much.  Shouldn't take them 10 minutes to say that.

Good Afternoon,

A lovely day here. I'm sitting in the shade on the patio typing this.

I would love to do a 'clear out' but I can never get my wife to do one. She has closets full of clothes she hasn't worn in years but can remember where and when she last wore everything.

We are stalled with planting as she hurt her back yesterday and said she doesn't feel well today so has gone back to bed. Weather is supposed to be nice tomorow and then 5 days of rain.

I never watch TV weather, just read Enviroment Canada on the web.

Glad I bought my 3 brass locos in 2020 as the prices seem to have risen a lot. I paid $295 for my Pacific from Brasstrains. They want $495 for a similar one now.

Time for lunch.

With my wife, it is purses.

She will get rid of unused clothes and shoes with no problem at all, but I think she has every purse she has owned.

This really does not bother me at all, they make her happy.

It looks like after 15 years, my house is back to what it was worth in 2007 before the crash.

Hi Kevin,

Canada didn't go through the housing crash that you did. Our house didn't increase in value for several years after we bought it, but it didn't go down either. These days our house is worth at least six times what we paid for it 34 years ago.

As fantastic as that sounds, it is actually meaningless. We would love to have a year round home in northern Ontario, but we would have to spend quite a bit more than that to get a reasonably decent place in the woods. Waterfront property is out of the question unless you go really far north, and I'm not interested in seven+ months of winter.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!

Good evening everyone.

I was looking at my new Milwaukee tripod work light. It extends to seven feet high and is fairly stable. I realized it would make a great mount for my laser level.

I made a bracket for it, and it works perfectly.

-Photographs by Kevin Parson

This is going to be much better. My other tripod only extends to four and a half feet. I used to put it on five gallon buckets or something to raise it up.

Florida got hit by the housing crash very badly. I think that is because our housing prices shot up so quickly. My house tripled in value from 2004-2007. The prices for homes just were not in reality.

Good morning

Nice laser level base Kevin...Good job manYes

Not a good selection of car shows this weekend or the weather for it on Saturday.  Maybe a good thing as rain days are an excellent reason for some layout modeling.  Have a bit of a discrepancy to iron out so looks like Saturday it is.

Was tired as all-get-out yesterday from being underslept.  As luck may have it, Google presented me with this relaxation site while I was looking for train videos yesterday morning.

Hit the rack early at 7:30 last night with one of their 12 hour audios and slept like a rock till 4:30.  First undisturbed sleep I've had in months, maybe even years.  With all this extra energy, it feels like I could run a marathon todayLaugh

I've often heard of this white noise that helps you sleep better.  Gonna get me a mini Bluetooth amplifier so I can hook up my Boston Acoustics sub satellite system in the RackroomStick out tongue

It comes up as Cozy Castle relaxation and here's a few links for ya to check out if your interested.

Something struck me quite funny this morning.  I remember all that complex mathematics from high school and even use it sometimes but have almost absolutely no common sense what-so-ever.

I was scolding Judy for leaving dishes in both sides of the sink as I can't fit the PUR water filter picture in the sink to fill it.  She just smiled at me and said.....You know what I do, as she took the removable sprayer faucet over to the picture on the counter and filled it.

I just smiled and said, Oh...and then I apologized as we both darn near busted a gut.  I guess a dumb Ol' Dinosaur can be taught new tricksLaugh

Thank you.

I have one more Milwaukee M18 tool to buy, the drywall cutout roto-zip. Then, if they ever make a belt sander or mouse sander, I will buy those too.

All of my old tools with cords have been replaced since November.

I forgot to put the laser level on the charger last night.

Good evening Diners.   A double Scotch neat please,  Chloe.

A busy day today playing cricket.  I am rather pleased. I played reasonably well though I say so myself.

Not been in the train room.  Just relaxing.   Dawn is going to choose a film for both of us to watch on  television.

Water Level Route
Root Beer Float my friend.

Thanks for the info, Mike.

I see that root beer can be now ordered on line, but to see root beer on the supermarket shelves here, is as rare as hens’ teeth, so much so, that some years back a friend, who had spent time in Canada and the States, grabbed two cases, when he saw some in his local supermarket. Being a generous soul, he offered me a can, but I’m afraid that I reckon that root beer is an acquired taste, and it’s not one the Bear wishes to acquire!
However, as a piece of useless information, we do have ice cream floats, except they are known as “Spiders”.

So, Chloe, could I please have my large Saturday morning coffee to enjoy while perusing the rest of the Forum, in front of the fire.

Hope those who require healing, are!

You don't just screw around on your only Friday of the week after coffee and just go out for any lunch

Ya go to the Fitz for their famous nachos.

Find the chips under the cheese, Is how they roll.

Who could not like this one any given day of the week.  That's a nice ride you have and a good choice you made my friendPirate

There was a video on YouTube years ago of people that had never had Root Beer trying it for the first time. All of the reactions were bad.

Apparently, according to the narration, Root Beer is something that if you do not try it when you are young, you probably will never like it.

A lot of the people exclaimed that it tasted like toothpaste flavored cola.

Me.... I love the stuff.

I was just reading another current thread about younger modelers.  There was mention of a guy being exposed to DCC and not having the necessities to bring all his locos up to date.  The following conversation occured as if out of nowhere:

Wife:  "What's that gizzy in your hand, Sam?"

Sam:  "It's a decoder."

Wife:  "What does it do?"

Sam:  "It will make this engine run better and be more functional."

Wife:  "Do they make them for husbands?"

Sad

Or they call them an unfinished basement.  Ashamed of the signage given?

The only thing missing here is the final wood and paint after torn down walls.

Ed, if that car was in any newer movie, you know it would be driven by a super-villain!

I love it.

For a long time I wanted to find and restore a 1968 Cadillac Fleetwood model 75. I figured I could move the front seat back and finally have enough leg room. I know I could never park it anywhere.

I never had a muscle car.  I can't count the family car, a 67 GTO, because it was the family car, not mine.  When I was a younger man, I preferred small British 2-seaters.  Now those were cars.  I knew everything about my MGB.  I rebuilt the engine.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Good morning Diners.   A coffee on the go please, Janie.

I am not one for cars.  Just so long as the one I have gets me from A to B safely.

My son on the other hand  has had Daimler's,  a Bentley  and Rolls Royce's.

My daughter had BMWs.   Her next car is a Tesla.

Stay safe everyone.

Good morning

gmpullman

You know how much muscle it takes to push a Fleetwood 60 Special off the road when your fuel pump quits?

I remember the old man who built the resort next door with his own hands when he was young.  Talk about a Craftsman, that place was beautiful.  All Knotty Pine with shellac kept up every year all over the place.  It looked like a Haven below the pines from the lake.

I worked the docks for him and he had an LTD with a trailer.  He would let me drive the garbage to the dump before I had my driver's license.  That was the funnest driving experiences I seem to remember.

He said he never understood when guy's peel out in their cars how everyone thinks it's so mocho.  He said he could understand it more if they were inside the car turning a crank with their arm to do it.

Ever since that memory, I've never peeled out unless breaking the tires free accidentally sometimes, backing off the accelerator for a split second when they do.
