Another vote for the Ulrich mystery diner location.

Edit: Hey, look at that, drinks are on me. Just remember to designate a driver.

Morning diners,

Ulrich- I'll vote for the red one also. It has detail with the white stripes.

I would like a see a secret location. Filled with imagination and wonder, not worrying about the locations beyond moral lands.

Good morning. It is a mildly soggy day on the East side of the Pacific Rim at 49 Degrees North.

Everyone loves a mystery and I for one am looking towards something a little different. At least off this continent. The world is a wondrous place, so lead on Macduff Tinplate Toddler! I have been reading a bit about the Hejaz Railroad. So I long for something new in the train travel dept.

Even though it is raining I think I'll start to blow up the pool today. The weather has been so crappy this year, a big turn around must be in the works. I think this will be the last year though as my Daughter will be out of high school next year and off to conquer the world. We certainly got a lot of use out of it.

The wife is still painting like crazy in preparation for selling.Tongue Tied It is looking more and more like the bulldozers will be getting first crack at the joint when we sell, but on she paints. It is like the woman that cleans her house spotless before she has to evacuate for the flood. Our neighbour two doors down just spent $550,000.00 renovating his 27 year old house. They had to move out for six months while it was being done, however, the offers for our houses are creeping up to a point where they are starting to get our attention. The environmental impact of all this bugs me.Sigh

We have had two beautiful young Bald Eagles take up residence in our backyard, building a nest at the top of a 160ft tree. Their screeching is taking some getting use to. It is a real treat watching them build their new home. We have to keep an eye on our pup as it would make a good meal for them. He doesn't go out without the big dogs for protection.

Well, best get on with blowing up the pool while I have the puff to do it.Laugh

All the best to all.

I would help, but I am so full of hot air the pool would just float away.

Well, the location I have in mind may be disappointing to you, should you expect such an exotic place! There are certain parts of the world where it it not advisable to travel to right now. It´s safer to stay in more civilized regions, where the food is delicious, the people friendly and one can drink the water from the tab without being struck down by Montezuma´s revenge.

All I am prepared to reveal is that we will be in a place I actually have been to myself and know my way around!

Happy times!

I think I have made up my mind - I will be going for the red one, which looks a little swifter than the blue one.

Some background on this loco - it is a Deutsche Reichsbahn class E 19 electric, which was the most powerful single-frame electric engine in the world when she was introduced in 1938. She was supposed to mark the entrance into highspeed rail travel, designed to pull trains between Berlin and Munich at speeds up to 140mph. Only 4 of this class were built as the production order was cancelled due to the outbreak of WW II. All 4 survived the war and were taken into Deutsche Bundesbahn´s roster. The front emblem had to go and the locos were painted in the classic blue assigned to electric passenger locomotives. Top speed was reduced to 112mph (180kph) but there was hardly a stretch of rail available for this speed. All 4 locos were taken out of service by the end of the 1970s, two survive until today as static displays in Munich (German Museum) and Nürnberg (DB Museum). Both have been restored to their original condition, which includes the emblem on the front.

The Marklin HO scale model seems to be a fair representation of this beautiful loco, however concessions had to be made for it to be able to negiotiate the tight (360mm) standard radius of Marklin track. The model has a diecast body and chassis and weight nearly 2lbs.!

Happy times!

Hi Gang,    I second what Mike has said here.

Ulrich,   Good to see you, Ulrich!  (better known as T.T.)     (Tinplate Toddler)

I too prefer the Red Loco with the sharper trim package, and I am so glad you are back. Truly hope you are feeling better and have overcome some of the demons that were eating at you.

In honor of that you sure have my approval for relocating the Diner, your travelogs are top notch. I am anxious to see where the rails will end this new month.

My regards to Petra and I hope her BROOM performs well.

ON the LM&E scene, I have expanded the topography on the east end top level to be able to include a townsite. Have already laid some trackage down, some of the spurs are temporary till I get a better idea about the building footprints that need to be taken into account. so a little of most everything,  roadbed, tracklaying, wiring and scenery. It's almost like starting again but not.

On my way to Saskatoon tomorrow for eye surgery. One eye for sure possibly both.  I hope one will do.Has to do with my bad double vision.  I hope it doesn't go south like my last Saskatoon experience did,  that would be a bummer. Then the rest of the week will be resting and healing. Don't know if some RRing can be fit in there or not, I will try though.

Ordered a bunch of Cooch retaining wall material for around the new townsite, it should look pretty good. I have about 5 shippments going to my Son's address to save some shipping costs or at least put it toward a visit there with them to pick the items up. Before long, here I come Montana.

Gary, glad to hear your medicals are working out for you.It is amazing to me how familiar we get with pictures. I can spot your layout, Ed's, Grammpy's, Ray's, Mike's and others' just by the first pix, not by looking at anything else. BTW., anyone seen or heard from Grammpy lately ?  It has been awhile since he has posted, hope all is well with him.

Well, I had better get a small bag packed and a list of all my meds. etc. And all my tube feeding equipment and food ready for this trip tomorrow, also have to get my dog to the kennel soon for a two night stay.  So I will cut it off here for today.

For any so inclined, please keep or at least give me a little time in your thoughts and prayers for this Op. it has helped before and I know it will again.. Thanks in advance.  My prayers as well to all those standing in need at this time.

Good evening.

I fianally purged most of the crud. Thanks to those great anti cough/snot pills. I had frost on my car this morning and I had to put our upstairs window unit in this afternoon as it is 85 upstairs.

That is about all, I finished the 1938 zenith last night, someone had played "tighten all the screws down" otherwise known as "golden screwdriver". That messes up the alignment so the stations do not come in as indicated on the dial. I had to reset all of that.

Not much on the train front right now. still building electronic controls for the museum layout.

 Afternoon Diners

Flo, the gang and I will have a Beer give Steven and Rick what they want.

Semi Retired Front. This my first 4 day week of work. I was not at work, but far from not working. Cut the front grass for the first time this year and trimmed a bush that has went crazy!

PRR Coach Wars! Ok I finally had what Gary talk about. Combo Freight / Passanger car coupler pocket dropped down by say a 1/4 inch. I am close to taking them back to K-10 Model Trains for a refund.

If I give up is not because I cannot fix the problem! But the former owner has CA the coach togather! Hard to fix something when you cannot get to the problem!

Gary Did you ever fix your Bachmann Coaches?

 Later Ken

Good evening diners,

Last night here in the Deep South everybody of age have round of moonshine on me.

Went to the driving school for "orientation" they have a nice rule about no shorts, and the classes are at the end of mayGrumpy guess it's because that in the summer the females of the species like to wear shorts, err, short shorts.

The school I'm graduating from has the same rule for any on campus activities.

In other news, the 12th I have an opportunity to be live in concert, singing Love Story and Moon River, both I am quite accomplished with.

I'll be back later, Auf Wiedersehen.

Evening All!

Parent Front: It has been quite interesting. It seems to be calming down, but it is still day to day. Hopefully Mom should calm down - the telephone, TV and Internet got hooked up this afternoon. (Dad can watch his sports and Mom can read her books on her tablet.)

Hobby Front: Plan to attack one of the two new projects on the list: the Athearn SD45. It came somewhat painted for the NP (with the proper 4 panel window sides and the nose mounted headlight) but there are things that I need to correct: the air horn is in the wrong place, the can antenna is missing, the lettering is the switcher lettering rather than the hood unit lettering, there are a few places where a previous modeler when overboard with the CA, and the couplers aren't mounted properly. Even with all that, I thinbk I can work with the unit.
