Really a boring day today over all.
Work Front Only thing sort of intresting today was I met a Semi or Pro Football player at work today. Not sure if he was a St Louis Ram or not. He played yesterday so I am guessing Semi Pro. He was pretty beat up today so he will come back later, well that is what he said.
Fence Front Contractor called me a work today and wanted to install the new fence this Wednesday, I said No! They told me 8-11-16 and I took some extra time off so I could be here when it is done. Contactor wanted to use Quick Set for the post, and I said No again. YGW, I have read that quick set is not as strong as normal concret, am I correct?
While the old fences is down and the new one could go in tonight, I still want to do some more clean up that will be easier with no fence. Besides, I am not in a hurry.

YGW Guess Steve has not been in the diner this weekend. Far as the B&O's are you talking about the coal cars? If so, yes they are all on the layout as we speak. If you are talking about the B&O engines, till I get the turnout back on line it is a mute point. Glad your Farther is doing some what better!
Train Front Thanks for the tips on using meter Herrion Chocker. More than likely I have the booklet that came with the meter, just no idea off hand where it is. I may test it yet tonight.

Starting doing that so that I could afford a pair of ExactRail flatcars (in NP paint) for my railroad. At $45 a car, I had to save my money to get them and I knew I couldn't do it by any other means except by the automatic method.

If all the wires are in one bundle, sounds like what you need is a cord keeper that an office chair can roll over. I've got a couple of pieces from a roll as I have cables running through a couple of doorways in my apartment that I kept tripping over. A tad expensive as I recall but well worth it.
Hobby Front: Got the 30 and the "new" RBL car out to the layout this morning with a minor hiccup. The box holding the RBL fell off the stack I had and one of the couplers and covers popped off. It took me a minute but I did find the pieces and got it put back together.
Of course I also finally decided to begin to put a small expansion to my layout. It will be 16 or 17 sq ft. (2' x 8' with the possibility of a triangle on one end that is a foot tall by 2 feet wide.) It is sized to allow me to complete a turnout wye that I have for my tourist railroad, expand an industrial yard to handle one additional car on the track after the unloader (2 cars to 3 cars. Fits better with the planned number of that type of car. I have 7 numbered and two that don't have numbers yet. I haven't come up with numbers for those last two. Those cars use birthdates for the last two numbers of the series and I've run out of family for the moment.), extend a river a little and, with the triangle, expand a service track for the steamers on the tourist road. Not bad for only 16 to 17 square feet.
Didn't get the bulkheads I was bidding on so I will use the funds that I had dedicated to the bulkheads to getting the plywood for the top. (I will go talk nicely to one of our local lumber yards tommorow and see if they have any damaged sheets that they would be willing to let go for a reduced price. The framework is standard 1x4s and 2x2s which can wait.)

YGW - F1 is short for Formula 1 racing, a open wheel racing series that travels to many countries, with cars that are more technical and electronic than NASCAR ever will be. They use custome built open wheel cars made by Mcclarren, Mercedes, Ferrari, and the like. Some well known drivers have done F1, such as current drivers Kimi Raikkonen, Felipe Masa, Lewis Hamilton, and others. Former drivers include the likes of Juan Pablo Montoya, and this years Indy500 winner Alexander Rossi. Many people follow it, myself, I prefer NASCAR. Contact is permitted, and, depending on the track, encouraged, in NASCAR, is not permitted in F1, as when it occurs, if the damage does not knock them out of contention, the penalty for contact will. The courses are road-course style, where it is a street circuit, or a track with both left and right turns. Their only "good point", IMO, is the speed, and that they will run even in rain.
Weather - Wet and warm. Lots of r**n which we need.
Trains - Got to see 6 different CSX trains today, Cleveland/Collinwood Yard area, as I was there for other reasons, but, no camera was with me.... (Except cell phone, which did not get good shots, should have done video...) First trains I had seen for several days, so were nice to see.

I decided to mow down the weeds in the place where grass normally grows... I think it is called a lawn. I got about a third of the lawn done and lo and behold it started to sprinkle out. Since it was also lunch time I left the mower on the back porch and headed inside. Did a few hours on the computer getting a bunch of needed items out of the way and then went back to hopefully finsh the lawn before supper.... Going around the raised beds I decided to trim around one of the raised beds by pulling the mower backwards... Wasn't looking where I was or what was behind me and tripped over one of the smaller concrete stone raised beds... Luckily I let go of the mower when I fell so I didn't cut off a leg..... Whirled around as I fell, racked my left knee on the side of the concrete and slammed my left elbow down hard on the top of it. Have a large bloody bruise on the elbow , a very sore back (spinal stenosis made itself very known as I twisted), both knees sore, and wrenched my neck..... Ended up flat on my face on the lawn! I will likely recover and survive and nothing is broken just hurts a bit! Will see if I feel up to finishing the lawn tomorrow....
Oh, the sprinkle earlier didn't amount to anything even measurable so the drought continues. There was rain to the North of us, rain to the South, heavy storms to the West and East, but only dark foreboding clouds right here. Finished the Month of Juily fairly good with the solar panels though. Made 575.5 kWh in July. Second best July in the 4 years I have had the panels in place.
Did manage to get some time on the layout and tonight I took a few photos of what I am doing. Posted over in the Photo Fun thread. Did more scenery on the hillsides. This will eventually become a pasture for a dairy farmer.
There will be wooden fencing near the top. Here is a shot of where I have started building the fencing at the other end of the pasture area. The cattle will cross the tracks twice a day when the farmer is using the pasture for them.... May end up with a interesting scene I hope.

Quick set concrete is not as strong as regular concrete, but it is plently strong enough for ordinary fence posts where its quick setting properties can make a difference in construction time. Great strenght is not required just to hold a fence upright.
