Galaxy wrote "YGW: You mean you aren't installing air/heat/a/c-exchangers? You know it draws fresh air in and heats/cools it, then expunges "bad/dirty air"? It IS SPECIFICALLY designed to change out the stale air without losing heat or a/c temps in these new air-tight houses!

There is flooding around your area I see we may have some here too. Hope you personally don't get washed away! That canoe might come in handy! I DO hope you guys have insurance onhte building of it or the new homowners do!"

Yes we do have insurance but it is a 10k deductible. Canaoe is handy shaped like a 'J" ! Surprise Our HVAC system consist of two zones. Each zone has a natural gas furnace for heat and an out door unit for AC.

Ulrich - good night

Garry - hope your trip is going well

Gary, Johnboy, V8Vega....good evening will see ya tomorrow.

I have been amazed by how quickly I have mostly returned to normal from my surgery. Aside from a little discomfort and lingering sleepiness from the all-nighter I feel pretty good. I am still taking a couple of Advil a couple of times a day.

I went to the movies last night with Mrs. ROR and saw "Everest." I would give it a B-. When the event originally occurred back in 1996, I was hooked. I read the Outside magazine article, Krakauer's "Into Thin Air," and watched Breashear's IMAX movie. Perhaps I was a little too saturated for the new movie.

 Evening Folks

Flo, a Beer please. If you folks remeber I said I would have a Beer when I was BBQ'ing.

VA Health Front Spent a good chunck of the day at the VA Hospital.  I have lost about 4 pounds. Blood pressure is up a little, so I am starting to test it in the morning before I have any coffee. I have a new CPAP mask coming (fixed mine with a Zip Lock) and some Gum that will help stop smoking. I have all so been sighned up for the VA stop smoking clinic.

Are you a "The Glass is half full, or a half empty person"? My wife is  the glass has a hole in it and don't cut your self throwing it away person! I bought some pork rub to called Grunt today for my pork steak. It benafits Vets and the one I bought has Bore wearing a Army Uniform, that why it is called Grunt. US Army where grunts!

Soon as she saw it she asked "How do you know you will like it"? Answer was "Won't know till I try it".

She said "If it is called Grunt, it will be way to hot to eat"! Explained to her that Grunt was a Army term.

She said "I don't want any of it on my Pork Steak"! Told, you cannot have any, it is for me! Smile, Wink & Grin

YGW It is only the PCM Big Boy that I have problems with. On the draw bar from the engine to the tender the coupler end is C shape. There is a post in the tender that the C shape coupler snaps around. When the engine hits a uneven section of track the C coupler does not slide right and the front tender wheels will go up, but not go down. Then it derails. I had it working right for some time, but it is doing it again. Tired of messing with it.

 Later, Ken

YGW: You aren't understanding what I am talking about, Please read:

Now do you see what I mean? These should be in every new home! in fact when we ahve our house furnace replaced in the new house, I will insist we have one installed too. Why? because even with the trailer loose fittings and air infiltration like mad, we get musty odors from constant A/C in the summer and the "heat smell" in winter, and damp mildewy-smell in spring and fall.

SO, OUR new adventure will have an air exchanging system!

Whistling

Hi Guys,

We built our fully energy efficient home in 1981. Even back then when a house is sealed up (no leakage of air) (The builder's term was "bagged") we had an air to air heat exchanger put in. This is to effectively get rid of the Radon gas that builds up in a sealed house. Also all of the other heated air in the house is routed through it, such as, bath room vents and kitchen vent as well as the clothes dryer that has a home built filter that the air goes through in addition to the dryers own filter to keep all the lint out of the heat exchanger. The incoming air from the outside is warmed here in the winter and cooled some in the summer before it goes to the furnace or A/C.

About seven years ago I upgraded the air to air to a more current edition that is much easier to clean and maintian.

Galaxy is right, if you are at all considering making your home more sealed to prevent air infiltration, you definately need and air to air exchanger.

My original one was made by Blackhawk Industries which is no longer around. My new one is by VanEE.   Would not be without it.

There is much more to our house than this, with an air lock at the front door, Thermal Storage Room ahead of the furnace and A/C containing 1040 gals of water in 5 gal jugs.  R32.5 walls,  R40 ceiling, triple gazed windows, and as mentioned before completly bagged and sealed. this includes all windows and doors and electrical recepticals and lights, with 6mil poly and lots of acoustical caulking.   Our house should have been the first one in Saskatchewan that qualified as an R2000 home, however the contractor liked what we were doing so well that he slacked off for a while and incorporated all these ideas into his show home and it was the first and ours was the second.  I was a little P-ss-d at the time, but now it matters not, except it is still working well and as planned.

If I was doing it now, I am pretty sure I would go "Geo-thermal"  and if I was younger right now I would go for some of Ray's solar panels on the roof. But at my age they would not be profitable to me.

Internet wi-fi has been working alright today except for the connection to the net.

Although I thought of buying Christmas gifts early before the rush. Now that was a bad idea, I just an email today that the Broadway Limited Imports E units came today and I had no money until tomorrow.

I walked my brother's dog 45 minutes ago and yelled at by his pooping. Now I got into a nice agreement that I did nothing wrong because there's a plastic bag under his butt. Afterwards I felt happy to let some of my anger out and also felt nervous.

See you guys tomorrow morning.
