Well at least I got to walk around a bit today. Not sure when I'll be getting my leg. They were saying something about the 19th but I doubt that's the 19th of this month. Probably the 19th of December.

I got a bit of work done on Oliver's train adventure. I programmed in the underfloor locked cargo box and most of the observation car, the location of two of about half a dozen keys that must be found to open certain things like lockers and lock boxes. One of the lock boxes contains a key, another contains a manual on how to operate a GP40 locomotive. That could come in handy if you're on a runaway train. Maybe tomorrow I can finish the observation car and start programming a coach.

My Lode Runner game disk arrived in the mail today. Now I have to get a joystick so I can play it.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Hey!  I ain't no Meece!  Of course I'm just hanging around for no real reason between doing other stuff...

Janie, just a cup of decaf for me right now.  I'll be relaxing in the back by the wood stove...  That's right, right where I have been all night...

Been a productive day here at my house.  I got a lot of outside stuff done.  Cleared the Asparagus patch and herb garden, packed all of that into those big paper bags they use for local pickup.  Also got the rest of the garden cleared out and packed into other paper bags too.  I now have 4 big bags of "Yard Waste" sitting out at the end of my driveway awaiting the city too come by with a bunch of dump trucks and a big front end loader to load it all up with all the leaves and small limbs fallen from trees to truck it down to the place they dump it so homeowners can go go down next Spring and get "Free" mulch for their flowers and stuff.  This is the first year I haven't just put all of this in a pile in the garden to rototill under in the spring.  One thing I can't do until I get something built to do composting now, so it just adds to the waste stream of stuff being trucked all over...

Tomorrow and Saturday are both supposed to nice days so I will get the lawn mowed and the leaves ground up at the same time and then put the mower away for the Winter.  Both batteries will come in the house to help them last longer.  At that time most everything needing to get done before old man winter sets in will have gotten done...

Have a great night everyone!  See you in the morning.

Beware of Jeff's mouse traps!  Mischief

Jeff .... I hope it is Nov. 19th and not December 19th.

Ray ..... If you don't mind, I'll sit at your table and have decaf too. We're getting ready for winter too. Might be a colder than normal one. The migrating pelicans usually stay on our lake through November but this year they have already gone farther south.

Today was basically a non-model-railroad day with too much stuff to do. .I did get another passenger kit in the mail today. Another project.

morning coffee in the diner...

GOOD FRIDAY MORNING!!

Today is Friday, November 15th, 2013!

MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!

Today's fun limmerick:

There was a black dog named Rosie
Who always tried to bite someone's toesies
She took a huge bite
Then ran out of sight
And left the poor guy with nine little toesies

Today's weird words:

Kemspeckle - Conspicuous; easily recognizable. (Scottish)

bildungsroman:: a novel dealing with a person’s life and psychological development from childhood to maturity

Pongy:: (Brit. Informal):: Having a strong usually unpleasant smell; stinky, smelly

Used in a sentence:

I sat sat on the terrace reading an old pongy, but kemspeckled bildungsroman.

Geeked

-G .

Just my thoughts, ideas, opinions and experiences. Others may vary.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.

Good morning all~Cowboy

Flo, just coffee, gotta get crackin soon, the basement is a mess, and if I want to go to CSX-Road-Slugs op session tonight, I gotta whip it into shape!

Could you guys get mad at this face??

Ok, maybe you can, but here's the tale. Seems as if my sister was making a plate of meatballs from scratch. She was about to put them in the oven, but she left the room to check what temperature they needed to be cooked at. Thats when young Blake swung into action! In approximately 60 seconds, he had come into the kitchen, scarfed down the meatballs, and went and laid down in the next room! Surprise Needless to say, she was shocked! Surprise and a bit upset! Angry. This pic appeared on Facebook yesterday (it happened Wednesday) After Blake had visited the vet. He was fine, just overate!!

My sister didn't appreciate my humor last night, when I called her with a heavy Italian accent, and asked her if her restaurant was having an all- you-can -eat meatball special! LaughLaughLaugh

Gotta grab a to go cup! Cya later!

Morning All,

Just finished breakfast and  drinking a cup of coffee.

Today I need to cut the grass because tomorrow the annual homeowners meeting occurs. We meet in a park area that allows everyone to stare at the side of my houseSigh.

It has been pretty hectic this week between work and my Mom being in the hospital for her knee replacement. The surgery went well and she is scheduled to come home today sometime. After cutting the grass I have to go to my parents house and wait for a repair man in case they are not home yet when he shows up.

Jeff- I hope you have your new leg this month.

Karl- Who could be upset with such a obviously innocent dog. I think he is being slandered.Laugh

Hope everyone has a good week and prayers for those in need.

Hi Gang,

Chloe, I will have a black coffee in an NP mug, please.

I haven't been around for a while.  I am getting ready for my annual wreath party.  The ladies are coming next weekend, so the garage is getting it's cleanup.  We haven't had much layout progress.  Larry is into biking now, and hasn't even been painting.  I plan to tidy up the layout for the party because one of the ladies always wants me to do a little operating when she is here.

Curt,  Hope  your mom recovers quickly.

Jeffrey,  I will be anxious to hear how your new leg works for you.  They make them for athletes.  There are some topnotch rock climbers with prosthetic limbs.

I probably won't get anything done today. Lots of muscle pain from the walking around at the docs office yesterday. I took some oxycodone earlier. It's not agreeing with me. I'll probably just go back to bed for a while.

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and a stack of buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup and a side of thick cut bacon please. Thanks.

Partly sunny, with a high near 53.

Can’t believe I slept until almost 8 this morning! I guess these nights of staying up until almost midnight tending bar are getting to me.

Ulrich- I like the latest micro plan the best so far.

Jeffrey- Let me guess. The government/insurance will need a barrage of doctors to “diagnose” you need an artificial leg to get around. You’d think a picture would suffice. Anyway, I hope it is the 19th of this month, but seeins how it’s the 15th today…..oh well, at least you were “walking by Thanksgiving”!

Karl- Love the picture and you are right, who could be upset at that face. I’m sure he’s very sorry.

Curt- Glad to hear your Mom’s doing well.

Sue- Glad to see you again!

Welp, still waiting on Brenda to give me the go ahead on getting this giant fake wreath the Foundation wants. She’ll probably wait until I say I’m gonna start on the basement project for my buddy and then say ….”I thought you were going to get my wreath?!” Backyard cleanup tomorrow, looks like most the leaves are on the ground. Of course it’s supposed to rain…we’ll see.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Good Afternoon Folks!

Back from the train show! Boy, do I feel wasted! I guess a need a big Beer to perk me up!

The train show was what I expected it to be. The quality of the layouts displayed seems to be declining from year to year.  The most outstanding model work came from a bunch of Belgian, Dutch and Swiss model railroaders. The German layouts looked a bit bland and boring in comparison. The reason for this impression comes from the fact that nearly all layouts shown had the same set of buildings from Faller, Vollmer or Kibri, giving the layouts a uniform look. What a waste of an otherwise good job!

I am too tired to upload some pictures today, so you will have to wait until tomorrow...

Make it a great day!

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of hot oatmeal with brown sugar and a pot of dark roast Seneca Lake blend coffee for breakfast.  Thank you Ma'am, you'll find me in the back by the stove keeping warm.

"We're havin' a Heat Wave...,  Tropical Heat Wave...."  Goin' all the way up to 50°F here in the Finger Lakes today...  I may use the hot weather to get part of the lawn mowed this afternoon. Whistling

Ulrich, so the train show was "DeJa Vu all over again?"  Well at least they all didn't use "Plasticville" buildings. Devil

Karl, I can just hear the dog thinking, "You mean, you didn't make them special for me???"  Cute dog, BTW

Todd, always room for you over by the stove, long as we don't get talking too loud and wake Duke up...

Sue, good to see you back in the diner.  We were starting to get worried that you fell off the mountain or something...

Jeffrey, hope the wait is short for the new leg.  Also hope the new leg is not too short, nor too long.... Whistling

Later!

  Morning All,

Currently it is 35 with an expected high of 50 under mostly sunny skies.

Today was supposed to be a w**k day for me, but seeing as it is the first anniversary of my wife's passing, I decided I was not up to it. I thought I could handle it but was wrong.

My daughters are in a a play, Les Mirables, that the Carson City Community Theater is putting on, this is the second weekend of the show, and by all accounts it is wonderful. I will be going to see it tonight, along with my brother-in-law and his wife. We are all looking forward to being with each other to help us get through the day.

Tomorrow is my younger daughter's birthday, she will be 32, her birthdays will always be a sad occasion for her.

Jeff - hope the new leg arrives soon and you get to be walking around.

   Prayers to all in need.

Karl ...... Ummmm .... You'll have to raz your sister a lot about the dog and meatball story. Most pet owners don't leave unattended raw meat on the counter. Whistling

Lion .... You will not have sticky buns with nuts and raisins if you don't sit on caramel, nuts, and raisins.

Sue.... It's very good to see you. We were about to send out the bloodhounds to find you.

Happy Lunch Hour You Hound Dogs,

Chloe, when you get a moment, please fix me up with a double denver and home fries with a RBF to chase.

Thank you........

Paul,  hang in there Buddy, these anniversaries of these tragedies of life are always hard to get by. Our sympathies are still with you.

That is one contented looking dog with his belly full, maybe not so much when he is hungry.

Garry, Ray, and others, I thank you for the kind thoughts. I hope to see the light at the end of the tunnel soon.

BTW Garry, please inform us of the Mfg. of the El Camino and the Woodie ahead of it.I don't see them on the Classic Metal Works site.  This is a neat scene, I feel like going in and getting some grub.

Don' know whether I will complete it today, but I am going to try and lay more of the main bathroom floor today, I sure have lost my stamina as of late,  and I hate that.

Sue,  you are our favorite she person here, where have you been ??   Sure glad you are back and I hope you stay.  Are you suggesting that Christmas is just around the corner with that wreath building session ?  As my Dad would have said,  "What did I do with my summer's wages??" How time flies...

JP. (Bama)  Congrats to you and your wife on the N.O.O. (new on order) Baby, any indication on B or G.?

Will have a bite to eat and get started on that floor.   Check in again later.

Paul ... Your Diner friends always care about you. We understand this is a sad day for you. Praying you will be comforted. Sometimes I tell people I had the near death experiences, and I am absolutely certain something better awaits those still in this life.

JohnBoy .... The El Camino is now on sales at Walthers for "only" $18.98 instead of $22.99. Still a bit on the high side, but it was something I just had to get. Son-in-law in AZ has one but his model year is in the 1970's and too new for my layout theme. It is a German made model by Brekina. .... The woodie is one I purchased a few years ago, and I think it is a CMW model.

Good afternoon - well, SWMBO is about 15 minutes out of West Palm Beach.  She's flying down to spend a few weeks with her Mom and Dad, 92 and 96 years old, respectively, although that 96 is about to roll over another notch in a few weeks.  I'll be mostly in bachelor mode for the next 3 weeks, although daughter Annie will be here for Thanksgiving.  I hope to get a lot done on the layout, and maybe even run some trains.

Garry, my own eyes jumped right away to the City Classics supermarket.  I've got one of them, too.  Although the size and shape are different, the tile walls and particularly the signs evoke such strong memories of my youth back in the late Transition Era that I just had to have one.

Sue, welcome back.  My wife Penny used to give wreath-making classes at adult ed.  Fortunately, she gave them in the town center, and not in my train room!

Evenin' folks!

Janie, how about a cup of decaf for me at the moment...  Yes, I'll be in the back by the stove keeping warm.

Didn't get anywhere near the lawn today.  Tomorrow is supposed to be the best day of the week and much better than the days coming up next week, so I shall tackle the final mowing of the lawn first thing (after coffee and breakfast) tomorrow.

I spent most of the day here at the computer getting a lot of printing done.  It is time for the donation letters to go out for the MLK Committee so we can raise funds for our scholarships.  For close to 20 years now I have been doing the creation and printing of those.  Today was the printing of the envelopes.  I used my Epson Printer last year, but that has started to not work for envelopes (prints one and then puts a blank one through and shuts down...) so I decided to use the Canon Printer.  Took me a while to get all the setting figured out and using Office by Miro$oft getting all the communications to happen required a whole different series of setup and commands.  Finally figured it out and all the addressed envelopes are printed.  The lady who takes them all over to the local college (she is retired from there but has "connections") stopped by a few minutes ago to pick everything up to get them mailed out for us.  She brought with her a printing project I do for her.  I print out a bunch of return envelopes for her.  They are printing as I type.  She has a Daughter (former recipient of one of our MLK Scholarships) who now has a Endowed Scholarship Fund named for her at Howard University School of Business.  Since her daughter was one of those great students whom made getting up and going to school to teach something I looked forward to, I gladly print this project for her mom who is the person in charge of fund raising for the endowment.

I also got an email from the store where I have bought several Mac computers.  The owner was letting me know that the repairs I had for a bad Video Card in my 27" iMac last August are now being covered by Apple.  Seems I haven't been the only person to have the card go bad.  He suggested I call Apple, Corp., gave me the # to call, and see about getting a full refund for the repairs.  I spent about 45 minutes on the phone talking with a few "Humans" (that alone is amazing) who were very helpful.  I finally was talking to a supervisor who was the one to OK the refunds.  Had to email him the invoices for the repairs.  I scanned them and sent him the scans.  About an hour later the phone rings, it was the supervisor again who told me a check will be on it way to me to reimburse me for the total cost of the repair!  I shall continue to buy my computer equipment at the store I have been using!!!

Only break I have had from sitting here at the computer was when my son came over to borrow my small trailer to buy some lumber to fix their cellar door.

Later!

Ray: I have found Apples service also to be fantastic, they really do help you out if you own a apple product. The only thing I have is a iPhone but they are great any time I have had questions or problems. I was skeptical at first about getting one but since getting it last month I love it, almost don't even need a PC.

Today was interesting. Got all the yard work done for the year and lawnmower put away. Some guy slammed into the back of the wifes suv today. So we had to go to the police station to report it and then back home to call insurance company. The guy was going to try to drive away. He was in his 80's and she had a heck of a time trying to exchange info with it.

Going over to grandmas in morning to rake her leaves for the final time and over to my parents to hang Christmas lights, and then over to other aunts to rake leaves. Going to be a busy day. And when I get home Im going to re-arrange my workshop.

Yeah, it's me again. And still hurting. I'm trying not to move around too much. Been watching Bond movies all day. 'Tomorrow Will Never Die', 'Thunderball', The World is not Enough', 'Goldeneye'. Received a box of twenty-five double sided, double density 5.25" diskettes today to use with the //e. Figured out most of the keyboard commands for 'Lode Runner'. Time to call it a day. See y'all tomorrow.
