I have to agree,I am now back into the hobby after being out of it for the past 20 years, I have posted numerous questions, there are those out there that have responded to my questions with comments only an experienced model railroader would understand even after I stated that I have been away from the hobby for many years. Then there are those who respond with best intentions but wind up discussing something else with other posters that has nothing to do with my original question. It becomes very frustrating at times.

NP2626

I have on occasions sent PMs to people who I have felt were very caustic to others; or, to myself.  I have found that it may; or may not work and has at times, actually caused an escalation of the ill will between us.  Some people have no interest in finding any type of appeasement.  Also, to think there are not trolls lurking about on internet forums, is very naive!

When you initiate a PM that means you started the argument, conversation or whatever you want to call it.  When you berate someone and they tell you in a non polite way to go away and then you go rat them out is coward like. Black Eye

I think so.  My friend TA462 was banned because of NP2626 sending him a PM, berating him and when Dave told him to go away he was banned.  Is that fair?

I have avoided this topic and admit to only reading the first OP's posting,a few others,  and not really wading through all the other muck.

I agree often the intended message or question or statement seems to get lost on other responders. and some will pick any arguement "just cause". ANd threads of longer natures tend to be filled wiht petty arguements between posters who "Hijack a thread" for their own "manifesto".

Perhaps, most of those  who argue on here are either : lawyers, or Wanna-be lawyers,  who will argue over every "fine point of law" to PROVE they are RIGHT, "beyond a shadow of a doubt". "without any doubt" Or "beyond reasonable doubt"!!!

Opinions are one thing, but to lambaste someone else in the forum thread who one thinks is ":wrong", or "mislead" or "off his rocker" even is just plain stupidity and shows the true nature of the poster in question who attacks other's. Or whose experience, wisdom and knowledge does not match the attaker's.

I will try always to refrain form stooping to their level and let it slide off my back. Otherwise, I am no better than he is who attacks me and my postings. Doesn't mean I won't succeed always, but I try.

Sometimes I KNOW I have the right answer based on my experience, wisdom and knowledge, and ignore all the negativity, and even when my thoughts on the subject can be backed up by others, or the OP using it and succeeding and thanking me, I am vindicated.

BUT I don not need to be in a "shouting match" to prove so, so I let a lot slide off.

Certain posters who pop up, I don't even read their post as I know I will find others form them down the line, usually arguing with someone else, perhaps another frequent post arguer.

They say "it takes all kinds", but I admit, I can do without certain "kinds"!

{{While I wouldn't want to contribute to lambasting  anyone, I relate an experience Note on one chronic argumentative poster: TA462 also always a problem to me, personally attacking me in general thread postings and in PMs CONSTANTLY. He plain and simple did NOT LIKE ME, anything I said or whatever {not that I really cared but could not avoid him}. Grievances I filed were often met with a "just ignore him", which was hard to do with continuing PMs and public admonishments. Apparently,  I was not the only one he  frequently did this too, and with many others such complaints, so it was his OWN doings that go him banned from the forums.}}

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.

There was more to it than that. It's better that the admins handle this.

My father in law seems to rub EVERYONE the wrong way sooner or later.  Needless to say, he is no longer married to my Mother in law.  It doesn't matter where he goes, or what situation he's in, he seems to have a "miscommunication" with someone.  He's been asked not to return to many restaurants in town and many of his extended families homes.  Every time he has some sort of confrontation he seems puzzled and says, "what did I say"?  He knows dang well what he said but pretends to be the victim in every situation.  I try to tell him that there is one variable that's the same in every situation where things go wrong, HIM!  He seems to think that the entire world has the problem, not him.  Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Of course there was more to it then that.  Dave phoned Steve Otte and spoke to him on the phone and told him he was never going to purchase another MR product again if he wasn't reinstated.  I just can't believe that the MR staff wouldn't even look at NP2626's PM's before they banned him.   Oh well the forum lost a great modeller that had a lot of knowledge.

They did. I sent them the entire conversation, beginning to end.

And with that I'm locking this before it turns into a full-blown argument.

Isn't it about time to get back to "Trains". Read what you like and take away what you want. Go back to the workbench or layout and enjoy, this is what's it all about, right!
