WSOR tank cars
Posted by Wikious on Thursday, August 7, 2008 8:34 PM
I passed the Wisconsin and Southern's Madison, WI's Johnson St. Yard today and saw some white tank cars lettered for the WSOR. I couldn't pull in anywhere to get a good look or go back around. What's the purpose of these cars? Are they used for road service or are they just used in the yard for fuel or something? Some pictures would be great if they exist- I can't dig any up on a quick search.

The only WSOR tank I'm aware of is a white tank car used for the Weed Spray train (X002). It just carries water that is mixed with the chemicals that are sprayed on the track. The weed spray car itself is built off a flat car. It's kind of a neat train, and it's on my list of things to model someday. There's a shot of it on this page, third from the bottom (not my photos):

Hope that helps.

That looks just like it.  Thanks for the quick info!

By chance I found these pictures if you need them. They're a lot closer up. Photos belong to Terry Solberger.

EDIT: Also found a front angle, courtesy of Ray Peacock:

It sure is easier to find photos when you know what you're looking for! :D

I knew there were links on Roger Miller's site somwhere to better pictures, but I couldn't find them right away the other night and I did know where Andy Potts photos were. I'm glad you found them and thanks for posting them. I've got a bunch of photos of my own with details shots and the like too (the set seems to visit Madison for a while every summer), though they are just sitting in my "files" somewhere.

If you could track them down, I'd love to see those detail photos!
