I found this picture in another thread:

Have you tried using a length of soft solder? You can play around with how it lays and since it is so pliable it can resemble hose when painted convincingly. You can find various diameters from .010 to about .125.
Good Luck, Ed
That particular hose with that diameter could be done with solder used for plumbing. Smaller hoses like garden, a finer solder Will work. I haven't head of anybody using anything else for hose.

Thanks. I had intended to use solder until I saw that picture with the couplings on the end of the hose.
I didn't catch that. Most likely a piece of brass or styrene tube. Zooming in does not reveal any detail on the coupling.
hbgatsfblack hoses attached to the valves?
Hose is .085 solder, coupling; scrap piece of styrene, valves are Plastruct with one customized to look like an MOV

Thank you. At first I thought that the hose was ribbed but I see now that it is not.
Hi Rick,
If you want a ribbed hose, Precision Scale sells ribbed 'hose' material in short lengths. They come in various sizes and are actually made from steel or brass springs. To get them to stay in the desired shape, you can run solder or copper wire through the hoses, and you can join sections together using the same method.
I could suggest a couple of things that might enhance the look of the hoses. One would be to use a globe valve as the end fitting. The second would be to add a fine yellow stripe down the hose to mimic the labeling.
Cheers!!
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Another good source for hoses in the smaller scales -- really fine wire such as is used for telephone wiring, and pull off the plastic insulation
