Ideas for an early diesel era pulp logging operation? Question added about bandsaw blades

I've never owned a band saw Dave, I've used a couple, but with the blade already there.  

I would  think the same, the greater the TPI, the smoother the cut.  I would guess that it should be the variable pitch blade.

I guess width is dependent on what size your saw is.

Sheldon was in here earlier, I was thinking he might see your thread.

I think I would still go with the blade with the bigger TPI, with the variable pitch, which means every other tooth pitches oposite the next tooth, like the regular saw blades you see.

The tape should help keep the cuts nice and clean, good idea!

Hopefull wiser and more experienced will chime in.
