Best HOe - HOn30 track
Posted by Santa Fe all the way! on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 1:40 AM

I'd like to do something different and build a small HOe scale layout. What is the best all around track? Something that is readily available, reliable and won't break the bank.

PECO would probably be the easiest to find in the US and probably as good quality as you will find based on the quality of their HO and N track products,

PECO N gauge would be easier to find and probably be a little less expensive but would not have the correct tie spacing for HOn30.

There are ROCO track and BEMO but both more expensive than PECO

Tillig is also more expensive than PECO but they have HO/HOe dual gauge

I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.

I don't have a leg to stand on.

Thank you for the information, I've been using Bachmann N scale EZ track for testing my loco and it doesn't work to well.

I have built a number of smaller HOe layouts, using different types of track each time, from Bemo, Roco to Peco and Tillig.

The only track I can wholeheartedly recommend is Peco track and switches. Both Bemo and Roco are not as reliable as Peco, but more expensive. Tillig track is OK, but the switches are too fragile and bound to fail.

Thank you! Sir Maddog, where is a good place to purchase Peco track? Did you use their N scale track or HOe scale? I'm having trouble finding Peco HOe track.

I used Peco HOe track, which is readily available here in Germany.

If you do a Google search using "Peco HOn30 track" as the key words, you should be able to locate a convenient source.

I get my Peco track from Hatton's in the UK, came to Dover, Delaware in 4 days after ordering.
