Garrison Central R. R. anyone heard of it?
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, August 3, 2014 11:20 AM

I recently found a HO scale wood snowplow in a used train store in New England.  It is lettered for the Garrison Central Railroad.  I was wandering if anyone had heard of this model railroad?

Since I couldn't find any Garrison Central Railroad on line other then your question I highly suspect its a freelance model railroad.

If you are an NMRA member you might ask their library for help.  At one time guys with freelance model railroads could register their name with the NMRA (they might still do this for all I know).  Also there was a pass exchange for years - you rarely if ever hear of this any more -- and the NMRA might have records for that as well.  Failing that you might ask the nearest NMRA Division if anybody remembers the Garrison and who owned it.

I can remember when pretty much the first thing that would happen when you descended the stairs into a guy's basement was that you'd be handed a pass; if you had a pass for your layout you were expected to have one to swap.  Both layout name registers and pass exchanges seemed to fade from view with the increased emphasis on prototype modeling.  But some of those old passes could have very funny rules and conditions printed on the back.
