I finished the revised plan with 1 11' 6" loop.  I used some 20" rad curves on the passenger line in the tunnel to get it to fit.  The large station still fits, and I added a passenger platform to the other side of the tracks.  I'm about to upload it now.

S & S,

Hi, I am taking a lunch break and found your newly posted plan.  This just keeps getting better & better. I have only taken a quick look, will study it tonight, but what I see looks great.

I was also thinking I may be able to use the Cadrail viewer software on my work computer to get some other views.  Don't know but will check that out.  The only thing I am having trouble reading are the elevation numbers, and the track work around the stacked staging area.

Thank you again,

George

The staging layout is the same as the origional plan, just flipped.  It consists of two identical yards stacked one on top of the other.

Sorry about the resolution problems.  CADrail drawings can't be copied into another program, and I don't yet have a pdf maker, so a screenshot is the best I can do.  I can make it into an xps, but MR's photo gallery won't except that format.Sad

I'll see if I can make the view any larger - there won't be any notes, though.

S & S,

I have loaded the Cadrail demo to my work PC, but can not open the .png file with it.  Can you upload it in the CadRail native format?

CADrail only opens .cad files.  Personally, I love the full version of CADrail - very useful for planning layouts and designing sturctures.

Model Railroader's site only allows certain file types to be uploaded - jpg, gif, bpm, png - so I can't upload a CADrail file.  I can zoom in the screen and take another screenshot for you if you want...

S&S,

Hi, the new plan looks good, I am glad you were able to reverse the upper and lower loops and I am working to see  how to fit it all in.

I really like the Canyon & River  feature you added.

I will play with the CADrail demo tomorrow, and see if I can learn how to use it.  Can you email me the Cad file for this design? My email address is in my profile.

Thank you,

George

I'm sending you the files now, so you should get them shortly.  I added a notation to the revised plan that I forgot to put on the plan when I took the screenshot.

Correction: I FORGOT to add the notation.  The track inside the lower loops that dead-ends into a tunnel is supposed to have a note that says "Interchange" next to it.  That track could also be curved around to an additional industry, or perhaps around the back of your AF log loader if there's room.

S&S,

Hi, I got your email and was able to open the plans with the Demo CADRail program.

It's much easier to read the elevation numbers than it was on the posted screen shot. I sent you an email last night, I am studying the plan and trying to figure out if I might eliminate the stacked staging yard. Or at least leaving it out for the first phase of building.

Thank you,

Hello Guys,

Thank you all again for the comments and advice in this thread.  Many thanks to S & S, Texas Zepher,  Paulus Jas  for your assistance and efforts wih the plan design, and to everyone who commented and helped me with suggestions.

Below is a copy of what I think is the final track plan.

I have also attached a copy of my benchwork assembled, this is a kit from Mianne benchwork, which took me about 10 hours to assemble, and that is because I am slow and for some reason wanted to read the instructions.

I painted the room but that doesn't count, that was another 8 hour project on another day.

I will start a new thread about wiring and the Cookie Cutter decks, when I have made some more progress.

Thanks again to all,

Aflyer
