Just checked, no dice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm surprised you got an answer as it is the middle of the night there. I checked again using Google translator this time, and it translated  as having two in stock on the computer. Where's Sir Madog when we need him.Laugh

Just checked Modeltrainstuff.com and there is a lot of code 83 turnouts and such that list there out of stock.  Heck, they don't even show code 83 flex at all.

At the risk of beating a dead horse or bumping an old post (or is that bumping an old horse?), I just got an email from JMD Plastics about this coming weekend's train show in Madison WI.  They reported that they had received a shipment of Atlas Code 100 flex - but that all of it had been spoken for already.  They said Code 83 was promised "soon" meaning later in February and that they would believe it when they see it.

Wow, if that's a 40 foot container full of flex track, that's a heck of a lot of track.  Maybe Atlas should have some sort of contest like they used to do with gumballs in a jar..........guess the number of feet of flex track in the container and win a prize.

Well that settles that -- and photos never lie, thank heavens (especially undated ones).

So your implication is that Atlas is lying on their FB page? That is simply odd. Why would anyone bother doing that? Do you generally believe in other conspiracy theories?

Good thought about a undated photo. They've lied for the last 8 to 9 months about track "Coming in at the end of the month" why come clean now?

I have been trying to get my hands on Atlas code 100 #4 and #6 turnouts, almost impossible to find, also I need a few code 100 rerailers, also hard to get. Just had 50pcs of code 100 flex track delivered to my door yesterday, so hopefully things are starting to look up.

Just got an email from Wholesaletrains.com that stated they shipped my order of flex that I ordered in October of 2012.  Sounds like the pipeline is back open.  Of course I thought I cancelled the order when they came back after that and said it was out of stock.  Not that I won't be able to use it though, I have plenty of spurs and such that still need to be laid.

Modeltrainstuff (MB Klein) has cases of Atlas code 83 flex in stock right now according to their website.

Now that the code 83 flex is back, maybe they can concentrate on getting switches and other items made. I'd like to know what's comming in next then what etc, etc. I'm sure someone at Atlas knows when and what items are comming next. When companies switch manufacturers, there's also a chance certain items wont be kept in the line. I guess we'll see......

I know that this is an old post but I thought I would let you know that here in So Cal there hasn't been a shipment of Atlas products come in as of 15 AUG 2013. I am just starting a HO layout coming over from O and I am not impressed so far with the manufacturers. I thought for sure a basic mandatory component like track would be available without issue.  I don't believe that there is a conspiracy over there at Atlas but maybe it's a case of the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

According to this page, many Atlas products have already been delivered since the manufacturing interruption. Some that have possibly sold out once at local shops are waiting for restock, others are still coming.

A couple of things to note: Atlas isn't the only supplier of HO track: Walthers, PECO, and others offer fine products. Also, you may need to look outside your local area to find stock on items that have not yet been re-run, as folks have suggested on your other thread.

Of any Atlas products? Since what date? That's just not correct, or it's a problem with the local hobby shop.

Many newly-stocked Atlas products are on sale now at on-line and local shops.

I guess the shops in in So Cal are last on the delivery list becuase the shelves are almost bare. Yes some on-line reatilers have a few things but just not a complete line of Atlas product which you would have thought would be available if they all shipped. I probably could buy pieces from here and there but shipping costs are way high at almost every online retailer and as of 15 minutes ago it would take no less than four to get about 90% of what I need. The are others but it would be the same so I am just going to have to hold out to see if anyone on or offline gets a reasonable amount of stock. I have time but I just want to have everything ready to go when it's times and not have to worry about hunting things down.

Stock may have come in and sold out already. That's not the same as saying that they have never received anything.

I didn't pay attention to this thread when it was current, but I would be surprised if anyone suggested in it that all backlogged atlas track products had shipped. See the link I posted earlier.

This seems to be a situation that is slowly improving, based on what my HO clients have been able to purchase over the last few months. So if you don't need the parts for another few months, patience might be a virtue.

The shelves seem to have been replenished up here on the West Coast of the Great White North. Maybe the containers got off the ship in Prince Rupert or Vancouver, so we got ours already, being closer.

I don't know about Atlas, but with a lot of retailing, products often go right from manufacturing plant to retailer as that saves shipping cost. This is happening more and more.

I just don't understand the reluctance of changing track brands considering all the complaining going on. They are all pretty good quality are they not? When I am visiting layouts, track brand used is not at the top of my list of things to check out. Am I missing something?

I went to the two local hobby shops this past weekend and both said that Atlas has not shipped product to them as of yet, they promosed soon but didn't give the shops a firm date.  I will wait as I have no choice out here.

I am curious, is there a list/chart/table somewhere that lists track compatibility across the various codes and manufacturers? For example, Atlas code 100 is compatible with brand(s) XYZ etc etc. I only ask as it may help those waiting for and wanting to eventually use Atlas to at least make some progress on their layouts by being able to purchase another brand that will be compatible with Atlas when/if they ever get their issues sorted out.

Happy modeling all!

Don.

Actually, all HO gauge track is compatible.  It's just a matter of how much effort you want to put into getting the joints level at the top of the railhead, and even on the inside face of the railhead.

This usually means some form of shimming for height where the railhead is lower than that of the joining piece.

The inside corner may not be an exact match - from Atlas to Micro-Engineering seems to be the biggest gauge difference.  In this case, dressing the inside corner of the rails at the joint with a file to get a smooth inside rail face is sufficient.

I use a variety of flex track and handlaid track in different rail codes - matching is no big deal to me.

just my thoughts and experiences, your choices
