Matt, Well I could put some trains in them but all I have is 5 cars and only one of those has trucks under it atm so it's hard to take pictures of trains.

Hi Troy,
It's a USA 38/2 mate and it runs like a dream. I'm sure that Ian (powlee) said that they are bringing out a class 66 but I do like the sound of the Deltic you are going to make for the lads. I'll have to use the pipes for an underground beer line to the shed!

The only time a large diesel should be sent out is when the footballers have run out of beer.

Here is a quote from T Jack. He helped me out with the photo insert when I first started on this forum.

put the cursor between the inner brackets and "paste" the url and it will look like this

when you "preview" your response you should see your photo as it will post. It took me a few tries to get it right, so don't be afraid to experiment. I found that if I want to add multiple photos it is easier to cut and paste all the urls from shutterfly to a word document, the cut and paste from the word doc to this forum. Like I said, it's a little bit of a pain.............

The mine owners appealed to the railroads to help out with their transport problems and the Rio Grande sold them this old oil burner that they found in a shop somewhere. This is actually the first loco I bought, an LGB passenger starter set, in 1986

Hi George, this is me just back from the pub, 7 hours drinking and pissed as a rat. Any way, I think the mine would look good in a smaller scale but it's staying at 45mm. I have already got the loco sorted out for the mine level anmd it's going to look good.

Kim,

you never know about neighbors. I read an article once where a guy didn't quite have the room he needed for his GRR. He discussed it with his neighbor and they agreed to have the RR run in a portion of the neighbors yard. The neighbor was just thrilled.

I have also read that some people are using a smaller scale track for the mining operations look. Not the whole GRR, just where they have a mine. Have you done any of that?

That's the mine George, should have included this pic with the others. I don't think Pete, my neighbour, would be impressed with a hole in our new fence. I have the idea of having 4 or 5 mines around the garden with them all connected by rail. The track will all be 1' higher than the main and will loop the garden.

Kim, i missed your pics the first time I read this. Sometimes the pics don't load. Your RR looks great. Is that a tunnel going through s fence? Or is that what T. Jack is referring to as the mine?

NO FAIR!!!!!! How come the sun is out in England and it's dark grey overcast, cold, raining cats and dogs in the "world largest resort city"?????????? TAKE THE CLOUDS BACK!!!!

The corner looks good, Kim. It has a finished look about it now. Didn't mean to criticise, but sometimes a second set of eyes can see things that were missed. I like the mine track, maybe I could steal that idea for my RR. I will be adding a tunnel ( a la BennysRR style) on the left side of the bridge and a mine track may be just the thing to justify it.

I'll post more pics, IF the sun comes out again.

Mark, this go round I dug a trench about two inches deep and put the ballast (crusher fines) in. I then laid the track and added more ballast. I say this go around because when I first laid it a couple of years ago I laid it enirely on concrete. Actually it worked quit well. The only thing is I used to much concrete and didn't leave enough room for the plants. I am already sepnding more time re-ballasting and leveling the track. Lot more wash outs now. But, I figure I like trains and gardening so its all part of being outside and enjoying both.

Good job on that crossing T Jack. I am getting your weather this morning. Oh well the new plants I put in yesterday will love it.

A nice timber trestle will look great here and the mine track will have to be extended to accomodate a loco with some more tippers.......................
