It has been a while since I visited the forum and even longer since I have posted. Anyway, the heat has finally driven me inside for a while. I have been busy working and expanding the RR. Here are a few pics of progress.

Mark, get out more mate, the hobby is getting to you too much, it's wonderful but you've got to watch it!
Saying that I've spent the last three weekends in the shed!

First, a ground level of phase two coming together

Second is an overhead from my roof top of the beginnings of phase two of my front yard layout.

Third is a before of the kitchen.

Fourth, an after.

Fifth, the location of my next venture in my backyard.

I also have an overhead in my mudroom as well.

Hi Chompers,

It's an Aristo/Delton C16 in Colorado Southern guise and scaled to 1:24. It's a very reasonabley priced engine and comes with a bright led lamp, running lights and a flickering fire box. It runs very well but rocks side to side a bit and is responsive to the train engineer control unit. There is a jumper wire between loco and tender with all wheel pick up but it still stalls a bit on my switch if the track is a bit dirty. The knuckle coupler is the old Delton type that mates very easily with Bachmann/USA. I have also fitted an old sound unit that I have had for years, can't afford these modern ones!
Cheers,
Kim

The sprig of grass in the foreground is called fiber optic grass. Gets to about 6" tall, grows in tufts like the one here. Great stuff - seems very hardy - takes stepping on.

Ahh, the morning sun.

Yep, but thats the rub! I enjoy the modeling part of it far more than the layout part of the hobby. The layout is what killed all my previous attempts in the hobby, namely getting frustrated with the scenery process. thats why I'm taking my bloddy sweet time with this one, so I dont burn out, and doing all the scratch stuff keeps my fire lit! Its also why I so dang many locomotives for such a tiny tiny layout, I dig modeling loco's.

PS theres a very good chance I might have to dismantle the Borracho Springs RR, again.....this time for a new garage/studio we've been talking about for years. The bad news is that my layout will be mothballed (or temp set up on the patio) but the good news is that when finished it will be housed in a drywall clad, air conditioned new home !!!!

Vic, Besure to post some pics of the RR's new home during constuction and moving in the Saga Thread!

Hi guys,
It's cattle drive time again on the Colorado and Southern with a bit of a mixed consist and a few mixed roads. There's a picture, that I hope comes out alright, of the new range of Bachmann self weathering range, the hand rail on the tank is going nicely rusty.

Nice pics. We always remember the early days of construction. Not enough hours in the day. Eager to get the trains running.

Capt
I have some Aristo track and I notice it is still very bright but the LGB track seems to weather very quickly.

Nice job. Keep the pics coming. Looks like you have a lot of room to roam around the rails.

Mark, You've been BUSY! Looks great! I'm amazed at the amount of track and the construction of hills mountains.

How many feet of track are down?

How many sick days at work did you use?[:p][:D]

Boy is this fun.

As soon as the weather broke, I started construction on my first Garden Railroad. After 18 days of construction, over about 5 weeks, I have trains running. I'm probably about 1/2 completed with the plans for the first year. No buildings yet. Landscaping is taking up a lot of time. See the before and after pictures at the following link.

CAPT.,
I bought most of my track, LGB, used and was pretty well weathered then - that was 6-7 years ago. It's been outside since then so it's seen alot of weather.

Is that LGB track? If so it is well weathered, does aristocraft track eventually get that effect.

I like the action shot at the bottom!!!!
