Too hot to work outside last weekend. 104 degrees. Cooler this weekend. Spiked down my new track.

Yeah, do you have a piece of dead track up there to serve as a safety?

I'm not sure, but may put a station at the end of track. Mostly, I just have to pay attention! There will be an additional power feed to the track at this point.

Yes, running the cog railway requires concentration, and no distractions.

I also have to make sure the " momentum " setting is turned off on the transformer.

No laughing here.  I think it looks great.  Can a locomotive accidentally run off the high end of the track?

The area in the center is a " duck under". I may actually have to pony up for rocks to cluster around the concrete footings.

Outstanding! Add "fence posts" to my list of "garden railway raw materials!"

Not too shabby for fence posts, and the parts bin!

Thanks, Eric!  All great ideas ! I have some open areas that I occasionally fill with buildings, I keep them inside. I plan to build more structures, especially of the Swiss architectural styles. The fence posts that I cut before look like I can " fake" a hotel, or historical structure. I see the tower from the " Grand Hotel" in Interlaken in the fence post ! Not exact, but could probably make something passable for a background. When I fill in the structures, I can see how much space remains for my fake landscape boulders, and possibly purchase more.

Paul,

Your murals are really helping to create an illusion of space.  Maybe you could consider a few more big boulders to continue to block the view planes and enhance the illusion?   It works in our aquariums and in the space-constrained Triple O.

Aloha,

Eric

I can also do portraits of Elvis on black velvet, and paintings of dogs playing poker...

When I first saw pictures of your railroad, I had no idea of your famous artistic background!

1. I like track cleaning ! Because, like a track walker, it gives me a chance to inspect every inch of the track work before sending a train out...

2. DRAMA...It was riveting! So, with the cog line, I feel DRAMA! It commands your attention, and you can't take your eyes off! DRAMA is good!

I am with you on your first point.  On your second point, just getting trains to run without stalling was sufficient drama for about the first four years!  Add in some toddlers and their not always well-behaved frieds, and I have had drama-a-plenty!  I'll live vicariously through you, for the moment!

Have a great week!

Thank you, it's been fun. I have a lot more ideas, but it may be getting too hot to work outside for a while. I'm just enjoying it as it is for now.

I check back every week or so, and your project looks better and better.  Thanks for the pictures.
