Tricky Logo Removal

I have an LGB Sclair covered hopper car which I would like to remove a portion of the logo or mask it.  The tricky part of this is that the logo ( Dupont Canada ) has paint under it which I do not want to mess up. I am looking for some suggestions on how I might attempt this. I plan on using this in a display at the plant as it is our 50th Anniversary. But we are no longer owned by Dupont so the logo must go. I will  be changing the reporting marks as well but, I don't see that being too much of a problem. Below is the link to my photo. I hope it works. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Try an automotive degreaser called "Super Clean." It works on Bachmann's heat-stamped lettering, without affecting the paint underneath. LGB also used a heat stamp process, though I don't know if the inks are similar. You might also try denatured alcohol.

Having said that, you'd be perfectly prototypical to simply mask out the logo and repaint it white. It's common to see this done on equipment after a sale or merger. It's far cheaper than repainting the entire car or locomotive.
