Wonder why,  MTH, as in the "G" gauge line, ship two pilots for the diesels.  One with the "gap" to swing with the trucks on tight track curves.  The other to be fixed, like the prototype, if you have wide curves.

Got the issue at the newstand on Friday.  Liked it all.  But I have a question on the Brute. I read the article 2-3x looking for the Answer.  It mentions that it was uncrated and deemed too Heavy by JCL.  Mentions several times about it and the smaller one being large and heavy.  NO WHERE does it state HOW HEAVY it is.  So my question is if your going to mention the weight as an issue please tell us how much it weighs.  I can't be the only one who was frustrated by this.  Thanks,  Dave

Finished reading the issue today. Thoroughly enjoyed it. What's with the badmouthing on other sites about number of pages. Quality over quantity... 'atsa nice.

That's just the "brand loyalists" doing their thing again--not unlike how they express their feelings for one brand of toy train over another.  A kind of defensive mechanism, I guess.

Personnally, I feel that if you're in this hobby and interested in learning everything you can about all aspects of toy trains, you would want to read everything you can get your hands on, and the more the better.

No complaints from me about any of the magazines.  I'm just glad they are there, and hope they will be around for a long time to come.

It may have been thin, but it was thick on content! Great layout spreads, helpful articles on Post War beauties, good reviews.

I did notice that the review of the MTH monster diesel did not mention the monster gap between frame and truck(Lionel suffers from this on several units as well!). I also would have liked to hear what kind of smoke fluid and how many drops were placed in the LionMaster AC-12. I know of several guys who report this as a great smoker, but require at least 40 drops to get her primed.

For future reviews, I'd like to see one of the Lionel 2-8-2 Mikado in the NYC Hotbox Set, and a comparison to the convnetional version.

Got mine on friday, the article on the postwar trains was great! It's always nice to read about the dinosaurs of toytrain industry, in that row also belongs the brute, which also was a nice article to read. Good issue again!

Actually we've had the Brute story scheduled several times, literally over a couple of years, but have had to drop it due to space changes.

I was surprised to see the ad myself, but there is no danger of my putting a bid in for it, so you guys can go right ahead....

A great issue as usual.  I enjoyed reading the article on the Brute, and was sharing tidbits of it with my wife.  Then, when I flipped back through the pages, I notice the ad on the previous page stating that the Brute was now available for sale.  That struck me as pretty tacky.  It can't be a case of the editors not knowing the two would be in the same issue.  I may be in the minority, but for me this cheapened the editorial content of the article.  Suddenly it looked to me like a big continuation of the ad.

There, I've said it.  This isn't nearly enough to cause me to unsubscribe or anything, but it just rubbed me the wrong way and I thought I should express it, since CTT staff operate and moderate the forum.  My apologies to anyone whom my opinion may offend.

Great!!  I'm glad you got it this time, so you didn't have to go out and pay news-stand prices.  Some good stuff in there, I'm trying to talk my wife into one of those bedroom layouts, but she just looks at me like she's trying to stab me with her eyes.

 Just picked up my copy today. Evidently the Chief's Grits are having a bad effect on the Crew at CTT As there is a typo in the article dealing with the postwar engines & there is a reference to a Screw on the bottom of the Motorized Truck of a Union Pacific Alco. That says to : "Remove this screw to expose the Gears". Wrongo!  This Particular screw is a Motor Mount Screw. If you want to see the Gears, remove the Screws that hold the Truck Sideframes on(two of them) The only gear that will be exposed will be the Worm Gear in the Motor Truck when removing said Screw. Take Care all.

I love the photo format for the reviews that highlights bits around the model. I missed that MTH Baldwin. Glad Bob showed it to us.

Do you guys ever look at the videos posted for the reviews? I wish they were a tad better lit but they now play in the browser rather than as a download - and they have one of those stationary roller things that makes that cab forward look really cool!

Thanks ATSJer, I hope you're right.  I subscribed online...but I read somewhere that mag subscriptions sometimes take 8-12 weeks to start.  It all depends on when you subscribe and what cycle it's in.  I haven't received anything yet...I'll wait until this weekend.

Ugh....I subscribed just about 3 weeks ago.  I guess I'm going to have to break down and pickup the mag on the newsstand to make sure I don't miss it.  I may not get my regular subscription until the June issue.
