NYC, Lackawanna, Susquehanna, Southern, Wabash, Central of GA, N&W, Lionel, Georgia South Western.

I grew up with the first three, just like the next three, the N&W sent me a package full of pictures of their engines (steam, and modern), and my next door neighbor owns the last one.  I have engines/rolling stock for all the above, except the last which I hope to do a custome job on.

Santa Fe is what I grew up with and still my favorite along with the Rock Island and Katy.

UP goes right by my house now so I guess I like it some too.  I have to have a soft spot for the SP since the wife loves the GS4 ever since we saw it under steam in Texas many years ago.

All Lionel all the time.

Penn Central,  but  only  cause  I  worked  for  them from  1973  - 1975.  cool  and  good  job.  But  the  paint  scheme  wasn't  anything  to  get  excited  about.

Right there with you dgraham... Frisco, MKT, Rock Island (cousins from Oklahoma worked for them)  and then the Texas & Pacific... since it was that railroad that was responsible for establishing my hometown outside of Dallas.

Spending the war years in Sandwich, IL gave me an attachment to the CB&Q (Really enjoyed seeing the Burlington Zephyr speed thru on its daily run.)  Since I've been an Okie for the past 40 some years I also like the Frisco, MKT, Rock Island and Santa Fe.  My favorite old RR is the CO&G, (Choctaw, Oklahoma and Gulf) that existed in Indian territory from about l894 until it was acquired by the Rock Island in 1904.

Kurt, they've been issued before - in both 18" and these shorty versions. I love them and want to get them - but I've had to change the curves on my layout. I've been tempted  between these and the various Little Joes out there to try a CSS&SB-themed layout.

How could I forget Lionel Lines - my favorite road ever.

Growing up in NJ, my Great Grandfather worked for the PRR, out of Adams Station(North Brunswick, NJ - now a MOW station) and we lived 1/4 mile from the NorthEast Corridor.

I've come to admire the Central of New Jersey and the Camden & Amboy(which had tracks through my town and ran the John Bull oh so many years ago).

Having family in Northern indiana I've always been a big fan of the South Shore, and Union Pacific.

Doug, what do you think of the Lionel/K-Line South Shore Interurban?  This is one of the first I've seen.   Have you seen any other offerings?

Why Southern and N&W of course. But not the Norfolk Southern conglomeration which is too modern.

NYC, Santa Fe, Boston and Maine, New Haven. I like a lot of them.

And for some reason, which I have no good answer for, there are a few I would not buy on a toy train - Rock Island, Southern, Chessie, oh and Norfolk Southern Wink [;)].

I'm pretty much with you, just trade out Conrail for ICG and GM&O and maybe Mopac and Frisco, well ok and Santa Fe.  But Chessie comes first! Respect the Cat !Cowboy [C):-)]

ACL and then the NYC.

The ACL had interesting colors early on (Purple and Silver/Gray).  They were also prevalent in both GA (where we currently reside) and FL (where we vacation frequently).

NYC since they were always the underdog to PRR.  And of course, the Hudsons.
