Personally, I have a preference towards certain roadnames and equipment, and that interest tends to be in roads in the midwest. Because all 14 years of my life so far have been in Missouri, I especially like the Katy, Missouri Pacific, and other Midwestern roads like the Milwaukee road and the Chicago North Western. What are your guy's favorite roads and why do you tend to like it so much
Being from the South,
It's Southern (prior to Norfolk Southern). You know, gives a Green Light.... and all that, I remember seeing it when they first started painting the green light in the "O", thought that was sooo cool.
I also tend to like the Florida East Coast, they are still kicking today despite being a smaller railroad. I just think the old Yellow and Red Engines were cool.
I'm also going to try and paint a couple S-2's like the FJ&G, my wife is from there, and the paint scheme is pretty cool.

Since I like the "old days" I prefer most fallen flag railroads: PRR, NYC, IC, C&NW, CB&Q.

CP & LE....Cedar Point & Lake Erie, a two foot gauge live steam coal powered line at Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio. The first Real train I ever rode on. I also like Erie & Lakawanna, Erie, B&O, C&O, C&NW, DT&I (and any other road with Toledo in the name) Ann Arbor, Darjeeling, RhB.....and just about any other foreign narrow gauge road.

ACL and then the NYC.
The ACL had interesting colors early on (Purple and Silver/Gray). They were also prevalent in both GA (where we currently reside) and FL (where we vacation frequently).
NYC since they were always the underdog to PRR. And of course, the Hudsons.
Oh yeah....almost forgot... My Railroad!!!!!
I like Santa-Fe.They have a wide variety of diesel paint schemes.

I'm pretty much with you, just trade out Conrail for ICG and GM&O and maybe Mopac and Frisco, well ok and Santa Fe. But Chessie comes first! Respect the Cat !
NYC, PRR.

NYC, Santa Fe, Boston and Maine, New Haven. I like a lot of them.
And for some reason, which I have no good answer for, there are a few I would not buy on a toy train - Rock Island, Southern, Chessie, oh and Norfolk Southern .

I love the new Heritage Series paint job. Can't wait to pick one up.
Having family in Northern indiana I've always been a big fan of the South Shore, and Union Pacific.
Doug, what do you think of the Lionel/K-Line South Shore Interurban? This is one of the first I've seen. Have you seen any other offerings?
Kurt
Growing up in NJ, my Great Grandfather worked for the PRR, out of Adams Station(North Brunswick, NJ - now a MOW station) and we lived 1/4 mile from the NorthEast Corridor.
I've come to admire the Central of New Jersey and the Camden & Amboy(which had tracks through my town and ran the John Bull oh so many years ago).
