I keep tryin' to tell you Bumbles Bounce!

Susan took my Bimmer to Delaware today... her Solara needs new tires and her Bimmer doesn't go in the snow... so I get the Solara and she gets the great snow car! I don't mind because I would like for her to come back in one piece.

Spent the morning looking for the cathedral... found one on EBay... go figure (that's where Fife told me to look)... also ordered the rest of the track for the Christmas layout... now just have to wait for everything to come in.  Also ordered a present for Susan (Gore-tex gloves)... wondering if I should order her a pair of skiing pants, she got really cold during the game on Monday and we've got two more coming up with potentially cold weather.  Any recommendations from the group on what type of cold weather pants to get her?  She can't wear anything with down because she is allergic to that, and wool makes her break out too... that's why I went Gore-tex gloves, couldn't find Gore-tex pants...

GOOD MORNING ALL,     21 deg. and lite snow, high of 30. I have not planned my day yet but I don't think it will be going out today. Not much snow but local news reports a lot of accidents. Snow doesn't bother me either but I can plan around it so why not. It look's like a toy train day.               Stay Safe...........Sir James

Frosty morning at 36 degrees here in Jacksonville, FL (or maybe South Georgia). Two exams given, one to go. One set graded. Funeral today for Joe Miller who was a charter member of the North Florida Chapter of the NRHS. Retired conductor for SCL and Amtrak. Spearheaded the Operation Lifesaver program in Jacksonville, for may years. Orange juice and bills coming from the (self serve) diner shortly. Probably no trains today.

Good morning all,

Doug M, we got your snow.  You can have it back.  Took twenty extra minutes to get to work.  Stayed up too late last night and feel lousy again.  Tonight I do not have to go anywhere and so I will go to bed early.  I did get the Christmas letter done.  Maybe get the tree up tonight and leave the decorations for later.  Bran muffins were on the dining car again this morning.  May switch to something else tomorrow.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Roy - Just stay near the innerharbor/Fells Point areas for the eat-em-ups.  We can definitely get together for some rail.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a snowy 26 degrees. Ground almost covered. Going up to only 30 today, with more light snow on the way.

Today I am staying home. Moved grocery shopping to tomorrow. By that time they might have the roads clean. Have a few things to do around the house and then I will spend some time in the train room. Good day for it.

Dining Car is here and breakfast is served. Later.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

HI GIZ,

Cold here again this morning at 28 to get to 37?  Ran trains last nite for an hour all good NO PILE UPs.

CHIEF, at your meeting with the SCHOOLs see if they need any wood shop teachers?  Part time of course, I'll be hanging it up here in 4 years and might come down and raid the southWink [;)].

DOUGDAGRUMP. That RI 4-8-4 is nice to bad about the electronic issues with the engine.  I've seen it down at YORK, same guy for about 4 years now trying to sell it for $500.

All have a good one,

Morning!

Well excitement for the day....I just heard some crunching...thought I heard it last night too, but wrote it off as the dog chewing on a bone...Dog at opposite end of the house...Moved child's play seat, and wallah!  Field mouse.  Trapped him with a towel, and bopped him.  He was looking for the ductwork under the floor...now I need to find the hole outside.  Ashamed [*^_^*]

Doug, glad the switches work!  Sir James thanks for the save...I only buy used 022's, for budgetary reasons, and always open everything up and go thru them.

Sister called last nigh to inform me of the TV movie event of the season, and she will bring her nephew 3, out for our 3-yo's birthday party, and to run some trains.  I have buttons installed to unload packages, and to toot the whistle shack.  I hope everything works.

Really hard to pass up the Lionel lines passenger set at Target...$169 til Saturday...The engine and one car is displayed in a clear window on the front of the box, and they made a front endcap!  Good for Target!  I have to go back today to shop for a birthday present for a friend...will I resist a second time?

Herbie wants to be Dentist!

Cold 29F, windy and snowing lightly here at 4,000' in the N.C. mountains this morning. Light rain and snow expected throughout the day. As our Mayor/Chief/NS Engineer would say---Ohizo weather!

Gonna ship my undecorated Atlas 0-6-0 out today for painting/lettering, etc, as Southern Railway Passenger Yard Switcher #1689 which served the Greensboro/Asheville/Goldsboro and Eastern Lines passenger trains.

Great looking little engine by Atlas.

Howdy All !

Finished sulking over getting outbid on a Lionmaster Challenger. Sad [:(]

Still trying to figure out how to come up with a mainline steamer in Rock Island colors. I like the looks of the Lionel 4-8-4, 18001, but don't like the less than stellar mechanical history. Unfortunately that is THE only RI steamer produced. Wonder what it would cost for a repaint of an older model FEF ?

Have any of you guys, or gals, changed a pick-up roller on an Atlas diesel loco ? Was it a pain or relatively painless ?

Glad I don't have any ocean front or bluff property, weather service is predicting 20 foot breakers tomorrow as a result of the storms in the northwest. Just think, houses two blocks from the beach could be beach front property by friday. Whistling [:-^]

Almost forgot, Congrats to Mayor McChief

Good night all.  Jim SP, neat looking layout there.  Well arranged.  Just got through running trains.  Ran NS SD80's and Big Boy.  Then switched the Big Boy to the storage track and ran the MTH E6's.  They acted up at first and I had just run track cleaner so I knew it was not dirty track.  [BTW: that nickle silver Realtrax does not "dirty up" like others, first cleaning in two months]  Guess it needed breaking in.  Got better and better.  Did switch from MTH smoke to JT's.  MTH just stays in the air too long.  Cough Cough  Even with exhaust fan on.  JT's will smoke but its gone.  Put JT's in the E6's.  Had to cut back on smoke volume.  Well, bed time.

Good news Doug!  We expect some pics!  I guess I never heard of that magazine before? When I was in college, someone signed me up for a magazine (think of bunny ears) that I received for a few issues before they contacted me looking for money.  I told them to send me a copy of the invoice/order showing my signature, because I never signed it!  Never got another bill or another issue!

Sir James, we've got the cookie dough icecream, plus key-lime pie (in honor of Mayor Chief) or NY cheesecake (in honor of Doug's magazine subscription)!  Laugh [(-D]

Good evening everyone,

I started the Christmas layout yesterday. It is 10ft by 8ft, 072 on the outside, and 054 on the inside. I have to find all the ceramic buildings and figures, so that will take some time. I have one loop in operation as of now, but I need to change some things around.

Have a good night everyone.

Snowing here. Maybe a few inches on its way to cheapclassics in Indiana and points east.

Stubbs, good to hear from you. That C&NW FM is a great engine - glad it is no longer giving you fits.

Brutus, I got all the switches to work except for one. I don't have a substitute so I think I will rearrange them later this week so it would be almost within reach so I could work it manually.

I had a surprise when I came home today: someone signed me up for a subscription to Maxim - too racy for me in this season of life - so I'll call them tomorrow to cancel, and try to figure out how it started. The bride and children are much amused.Confused [%-)]

Stubbs!  Welcome back to the 'pot, it's been a while man!  Sounds like you are still getting time to play which is good!

Doug, hope those switches are coming along a little better now!?

Chewy just jumped up on me on the couch, burped and puked all over my t-shirt!  Guess it's "dog" for good chow!?  I think she made room for some icecream, Sir James?  You coming over?

Cold this morning but warmed up a bit by noon.  Found that Grand Central has the passenger set for my mth train so going to give them a little ringy-dingy tomorrow from work.

Evening fellas...

I'm about done... stick a fork in me!

Got home tonight and had to vacuum the leaves in the yard (yesterday before going to see the refs hand the Patriots their 12th win there was a pile about 20 ft long, 8 ft wide, and 3 feet deep infront of the chimney and my garage door - Susan's door was clear).  So I just pushed the pile out from infront of my door so I could get my car back in when we got home.  Was going to do some work on the Master Bath tonight, but we're supposed to get rain/snow tomorrow and I wanted the leaves removed... so it turned into vacuuming all the leaves from the side of the house and around the back of the house... 4 hours... YAWN!!!

Tomorrow Susan goes away for two nights... hope to get the Master Bath done and start on the Christmas layout on Thursday... have two nights to get it up and running as Saturday we set up for Christmas...

So I went to install the snow blade tonight... missing parts Banged Head [banghead] hope the guy still has them or I can get from John Deere... Angry [:(!]

... last thought for the night...

Silver and Gold, Silver and Gold, mean so much more when I see... Silver and Gold decorations on every Christmas tree.

Grayson, I am retired State Fleet Manger.  When I retired, I started working part time with with Professional Mariner going to Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops training [about on-board boat battery chargers] and working events.  Now that will taper as Mayor's job is almost full time.  Tomorrow, will go to office around 10:30, interview at 11:00.  Meeting in Raleigh with Wake County Public Schools at 1:30.  That wil get me back around 5 PM.  That goes on like this for every week.  Things scheduled about every week day and some on weekends.

Got my new OGR today.  Had seen Miss Edna's copy Sat.  Off to see TV.  Later.

YEA, I got the train up!!!! I never follow this topic or post much on the site for that matter. I got back from a Air Force trip to the UK and Germany yesterday and got sick somewhere along the line. Im sure I got it from someone on the jet, so feeling punk I put the train around the tree and the house as well. Im using the zw that I got late last year and seems to work well, I just like the more power that my Z has than the zw but oh well. I always wanted one since I was a kid. So now I get to ops check some of the frankenstein locos that I've built. Been running a FM CNW U-boat that gave me fits last year and wound up rebuliding both trucks from the ground up with all new bushings, gears, etc as it was chewing up drive gears. Does'nt run as fast as it did but boy is it alot smoother and quieter and still pulls good. God, I love trains!

Evening from the Mayor's office.  Getting this site set up in favorites.  I thought the software was slow and getting "stuck" at home was my problem.  Nope. does it through this site too.  It is the NC state Government site.  Lousy software I guess.  Other sites just fly.  OH well.  Time to go feed the deer and go home.
