You gents notice there was an actual piece of 3-rail track laying on top of one of those tables - gonna be a cold cold winter....

Pictures from yesterday's work and how the room is looking now.  In the pictures, yu can see the small holes in the wall.  That is the angle of the roof and the ceiling of the walkin attic the trains will be going into.   The holes closest to the door is the edge of the closet you walk through to get into the attic.  Now you see the tight restraints to get through the wall.

Just can't seem to get the "off the carpet" idea. Wink [;)]

Actually working on haw the curves and the lift will fit and tie into the two sections of benchwork.  The switch to the left of the screen goes to a siding next to the chimney and the switch on the right in the inner loop goes to the grain siding.

Evidently the secret to good benchwork is to let the lumber age in your front yard for several years before building. Who knew?!  Wink [;)]

Ihave you to know, my lumber was aged in a nice dry place.   Junk, just wait.  Got to move some junk out of the walkin attic and store it under the new benchwork so I can build in there.  It keeps multiplying.  Lots of rolling stock in boxes.

To all,

I agree with the title of the thread.  Man, we drove thru driving snow this morning.  Now the weather is nice.  Maybe the Chief stopped for awhile.  Seriously, tho, the bench work looks good.

Keep on training,

Someone PLEASE get Chief away from that room!  We're having near whiteout conditions here*.  Lots of Lake effect snow coming down.

It will be a long slow commute home tonight.  Can't wait.  *sigh*

*Here is between Cleveland and Akron.

Worked on bracing the corner at the liftout/walkthru.

The finished corner

Finished framing the knook at the chimney.

Very substantial looking benchwork but I'm wondering how hard you are really working.  We have yet to have even a flurry of snow, it's looking like a brown Christmas.

I really am enjoying your pics and seeing the progress, keep up the good work.  Now let's get really busy and make it snow in Iowa, c'mon---you can do itSmile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

CHIEF,

That one corner looks like a beaver was at it?  Going to have to grade you an F+ on that one.  Got to get better at the details?  That is what I tell my students.

Well LAZ,

If you will remember, Chief had some of the Beavers at gun point earlier this year, so now we know what he is doing with the hostages!

Geez - temps here dropped below freezing - Chief and those Beavers must be working away!

Was so cold today that the BEAVERS stayed in their huts.Sigh [sigh]  Did go to Lowes and get rubber cups for the legs.  The whole thing was sliding on the slick carpet.  Lowes has 1/3 inch blue foam.  SIL has a building supply place in Raleigh that has foam up to 4 inches thick.  Maybe build some tomorrow but have to go to "Miss Edna's" and wife wants to go see the movie The Nativity.  So, that may shoot the afternoon as she always wants to go to the afternoon shows.   Will be warm Sunday PM so might do some then as I went to Mom's down east this afernoon.  Monday is shot as going to Kerr Lake [suppose to be 62 degrees].  Wednesday and Thursday are shot as going to friend that was WWII, Air America and Forest Service pilot and do some shooting.  That leaves Tuesday and I have a 1 PM appointment with the famous young dermatologist who loves me. Wink [;)]  Do not want to break the momentum.

Got a sheet on the benchwork.  Actually two as I am cutting each section in two pieces.  Lot easier to carry upstairs.  Added another cross brace down the middle so I could screw the top to a complete board.  Back from moive.  Hope to do more tomorrow after Sunday School.  Picture later.

LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW!!!!!!Evil [}:)]Wink [;)]Big Smile [:D]

Did not get started until after 3 Pm.  Had to take wife to some stores.  Did get a Inoic Breeze air purifier for the trainroom.  Just finished in the dark.  Not screwed down but cut and ready.

From the walkthru closet:

From the main door:

Now this will be covered with 1" foam.  Once I get this screwed down, I will put the track down to see how it fits.  Then take it up in sections and put down the foam.  Before putting down foam, I'll cut holes in walls for tunnels and do the same framing and subflooring in the other room.
