Nice setup Marxalot!  You're lucky...There's no way my job would've let me setup something like that.  So 2 Loco's on my desk was as far as it went for me.

Take a Model Train to Work Day was a success! We had 2 HO, 1 - N, 1 - S, and 1 - 0/027 set ups. We had folks talking about trains, remembering their first set, their dads helping them, siblings not helping them and a few commented about maybe possible future layouts. We used the same format as in 2004: three of us set things up, and I took the day off as vacation and ran everyones stuff plus my own! A few photos of the day are below. I'm the one in red plaid.

As an added way to expand the hobby, I bring my CTT/OGRs to work and leave them on the counter in between the heart rooms.  I often come in to find the nurses, anesthesia, surgeons looking through them.  It has started many conversations and I know of several folks that want to bring their old trains over once I get the layout up and running.  To my knowledge, I may have the only O gauge layout for better than 90 miles, so we may be starting something.

Greg, you just reminded me of something heading my way.  My wife's teacher's party is going to be at our house this year, which means that everyone will want to run the trains.  Then they will want to have a field trip for their class to my house to run the trains.  Pretty soon all the elementary schools in Columbus will be making field trips to my house to run the trains.

Hey BUCKEYE can I schedule a field trip with my students for next year?

Since my office is closed on Friday, I'm going to take a train to dinner and a movie. Where it goes from there is no one's business. Wink [;)]

It's very unusual in Holland, but since I know that friday is the day to do so, I'll take a locomotive to sit on my desk at work. Not one too expensive, probably my K-line MP15. It looks great, but isn't such an expensive machine. (everyone is going to touch it, hold it etc.. ) Thanks for the notice!

Hi folks,

Myself and a buddy will be bringing the portable parts of our layouts to work on Friday.  I've just finished a small (1m x 1.2m) layout that I'll be taking along.

We're also planning on bringing scenery material to show everyone how things get put together (how to lay grass etc) together will some rolling stock.  We have a lot of railroad image (prototype and otherwise) that will be displayed on the overhead projector.  I've also ripped all the music from my Railroad Tycoon 2 and 3 games:  so there'll be lots of railroad blues blasting out over the speakers.

My friend recently programmed sound into one of his locos, so he'll be demonstrating that.

The aim is to share your hobby with everyone else.

On another note.  Not everyone in the world celebrates "Veteran's Day", whatever that is.

I think that the band hall at Cuero High is getting a train layout in its quarters for the third time.

Doug - Thanks for the reminder I already have a loop of track set up on a table with a freight station, two houses, some crossing gates, and  a wind - up Marx Freight train.  On a shelf I have a wind-up Marx passenger train sitting on a length of old track.  I also have a Cat's Meow Lionel set on the top of a book case.  I may try to take some photos tomorrow.

Take care,

Mitch

Doug, I'm surprised you had to ask the question.  The answer is obvious; THE DUMP or if he has more time for refinements, THE WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT.

How did you guys know I was modelling Ohio?  That is why I have not posted the photos yet, I was trying to suprise y'all.  Anyway, we have a lot of extras at the end of a case.  Such things as pulse pump motors, varied lengths of sternal wires ( wires used to hold the sternum together after heart surgery), electro cautery lines with wires in them, all kinds of containers, basically a lot of stuff that I need to make such things as industries along the rails.  Sorry, no bed pans, so I guess I can model somewhere other than Ohio.Wink [;)]

I have all the nurses and scrup techs saving different items for my layout.  I figure I will bring a train, but I know that they are expecting a big party at our house once the layout is done so that they can see the results of all this saving.

Buckeye,

I agree, a cab ride would be a fantastic way to get to work on Friday.

I think about bringing a train to work each year and then decide not to because I am fairly certain that it would be frowned upon.  A few people here know I have trains but rarely does the subject come up.  There is one person that I talk with about trains every now and then but don't spend too much time doing it.
