can't believe no one started thread yet

Well, my first set was a 63 country sedan and my 2nd set was a '67 Malibu with mag wheels, air shocks, etc.

THis is my first homemade set of train wheels, made completely from nuts, screws and washers all held together with JB Weld. Each wheel contains 3 washers for the tire and one for the flange.

The beginnings of a frame are apparent here, with copper tubing from a gas line filling the hole for the bearing or bushing. I'll fabricate a journal box and cover. Also making my own link and pin couplers.

In fact, the entire piece will be fabricated. Working a bit slow, however, as I've got lots of bridge work outside to do, but since the temps outside are dipping down into the 20s, thought I'd finish up a wheel set and post.

I very much enjoy this weekly thread, so thanks for keeping it going.  My simple offering comes from my recent business trip to Owatonna, Minnesota where I saw their power plant that reminded me too much of Lionel's Power Stations that I had too share it.  All they need to do is change the Owatonna Power Plant to Lionel and its a pretty good match.

No swings as there may not be room for them. I thought I'd get some birds & pigeons maybe for there & some people feeding them !! Just a place to relax on a nice summer day, take the dogs for a walk !!

Thanks, John

A beautiful day here so why did I spend an hour in the basement?  It's just fun shooting the layout and trying some new angles.  Today ended up being trolley day!

Buckeye,

I like the Polar Bear handcar set but is it an original or did you modify it?

Will try to post photos soon of my layout or motive power, don't hold me to a date, still learning Confused [%-)]about computers.

Lee, that is just how we purchased it.  Did not modify it one bit.  We have another one that is different, but we do not have a photo of it.  They are used at Christmas to run around a small tree in the hallway of the house.

Buckeye,

I have not seen the Polar Bear set that way before.  Another thing that I noticed is the numbers on the Coca-Cola cars are differant, yours has 1 & 2, my set has 3 & 4.  My set has the Polar Bear(first car) on one end & a baby Polar Bear and Seal on the other end, second car has a Polar Bear standing up with a Coke bottle leaning against a large Coke bottle.  I have added another trailer # 2  from another set to the Polar Bear set using the trailer bar that came with the handcar trailer set, a set of three trailers for the Kennicott Copper Company.

@jabaat, may I make a small suggestion? Move the huge big black transformer on a seperate platform at the height of the underside of the layout, that way that big thing doens't take a prior position on your layout. It's so beautifull made and when I see that overall view, there is a huge big ugly black thing drawing all attention towards itself. If it is a bit lower in front of the layout, your landscape will show much better I think.
