Nice buses!  I recognize them all, except the dark blue(?) one in the 5th pic down. What is that thing? It almost looks European.

(Notice I didn't comment on the "distractions" crossing in front of the buses?  I'm cool that way! Big Smile [:D])

I KNOW why they're partying!!  They just got off of a bus that took them OUT OF CLEVELAND! Wink [;)]Laugh [(-D].  Hey, as a Pittsburgher I HAVE to say that, right!? Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

In a dream last night the voice of the Ghost of Christmases past told me to look back and smile, so I did:

Walt,

Speak of partying, I was sipping my tawny Porto wine and when I was finished, I discovered that the cork was missing.

So, I went out that night to the train shed in the dark, thinking I left it there:

But no luck. So then I waited for daybreak to check the right of way. But the only thing I saw was a hotshot piggyback train zooming thru.

Just as I was about to give up, this 50 foot tall hound (I kid you not), came walking down the tracks and deposited my chewed up cork in front of her paws by the rail. What a day it has been. I'm thinking about switching brands of wine.

Trains of Colorado and New Mexico

Remember to Click to Enlarge Smile [:)]

This great restored F7 heads up the train from Cannon City through Royal Gorge.

At Charma, NM a restored caboose.

In the cab of Locomotive 42, Rio Grande Southern

The famous station at Durango, CO

The Durango and Silverton arrives at the yard to take on coal and water.   The night watchman for the railroad took this photo after I told him I knew THE CHIEF.

How it was and how it still is on the route north from Durango.

Note the box car behind the tender.  We were told that every train carries firefighting equipment in the box car.

Don't wear white on this train ride.

Stopping for water as the train heads to Silverton, CO

In Southwest Colorado,  remains of the abandoned (1953) Rio Grande Southern can be found in the National Forest.

Livestock pens on the Rio Grande Southern.

The only trestle left on the Rio Grande Southern.

We would all be running DC trains if this hadn't happened.  Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]   This is where Edison's proposal for using DC current died when they successfully generated AC current and transmitted it two miles over the mountains to a mine.

If there is a particular photo here that you would like a copy of for your train room, bedroom, bathroom and in the Chief's case, the outhouse, just sent me an email and I'll send you the photo.  Most of the photos are greater than one meg.

See ya down the tracks,  maybe narrow gauge the next time.

Somehow in the process of posting the pictures, the text disappeared so I'll add a little here.  The photos are my first attempt with a Canon Rebel XT and I'm pretty pleased with the results.  The layout is on the living room floor (for now) and lets me experiment with landscaping, weathering, etc.

A great bunch of pictures again this week.

dgraham, Must have an understanding wife.  Nice floor layout and nice pics.

Buckeye, When we rode the D&S they had a bunch of rafts in the box car which they unloaded about 2/3 of the way to Silverton along with a group of rafters.

Boy Oh Boy !! What a great posting of pictures again !! Now I need some buses, along with a lot of scenery !! Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

Yesterday I was able to get a set of MTH trestles at Train City in Erie & down the road a couple more Die cast cars. When Buckeye was here, he suggested a track above the road & now I am working on that idea with the bridge & trestles !! Everything is just sort of balancing up there right now !!  I'm heading around the chimney & hot water tank now !! Big Smile [:D] Big Smile [:D]

Thanks, John

Hey Highrail Jon,

I have stick built me a barn and am lookin for something to use for shingles.  I would prefer wood shingles.  I have found some shingles tdhat are made of wood in our local Hobby Lobby Store but they arent the proper size for O gauge.  Any suggestions?  An old farm house is my next project

                                  Thanks Greg

Dave, given the 50 foot dog, and the size of the cork, I guess that bottle of port to be about 4 feet tall.  If you had to finish it due to absence of said cork, I would not be surprised with anything you may have seen.  Loved the story, and I am a Port man myself, now if I can work on the wife and have a sitter for the kids, I could actually have some.

Everyone, great pictures and inspirations.  Keep up the great work!

Dennis

Hi Folks,

Nice pics as usual.

Here is a link to a BIG FILE (20 MB) that is an end-to-end video I took of the Lionel Christmas layout that was in Grand Central Terminal at the MTA museum annex last Christmas season and set up recently at the LCCA convention in Denver July 27th-29th. I'll post some more videos in the future, but this one used all my available web space.

Sincere apologies - This link NOT FOR LOW SPEED users.

Eleven trains running at once. This video does not catch the subway trains that run under Grand Central on the layout.

Regards, Roy
