hey guys! Eric can I ask you a favor? Is there any chance you could build the smallest HO scale you can but still have a single track main line with a siding tuning into the oval. You don't have to make it real fancy. It's going to be for a preschool, or you could help me build one by giving me tips.

Greetings.

Bad news--no train under the tree this year.  No ornaments except for a few bulbs on the tree.  New house still not finished.  Our life is nuts.

Hope all are doing well.  Still no internet/cable at house.  This msg made at coffee house.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah!

Greetings, folks!

We're doing well in Ohio, but without internet in our new house--the subdivision is brand new and the cable hasn't been run yet.  Anyway, hoping all are doing well.  I send season's and Christmas greetings to all.  Happy hanukkah, mtl.

Lots of unpacking and moving still going on.  I only have a little over a week to get the Marx tinplate  set under the xmas tree.  Stress!

My time on here will be spotty at best for a while,  But had to say hi and say how much I miss you guys.

I hope you all have a successful and prosperous new year.

PS If I don't respond to a msg,  it's because I can't get internet time.

Dan

Greetings from Ohio. Staying in a hotel for a few days and then we move in our new house.

Ohio is NUTS with this OSU-Michigan game this weekend. Red everywhere.

I'll be exploring train stores in the area this next week.

That's all for now. If I don't talk to you all--HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!

Well thanks for the advice there, Dan. Most folks dont usually mess with me anymore about it, but everynow and then, I do run into the occassional butt that can't grow up and be mature.

Hey MTL, RRRedneck,

You young guys have more money to spend than us old guys! What gives? How's that happen?

Anyway, my wife is really cool about my trains. I buy a little here or there, but she buys me stuff for all of my holidays. I'd rather get train stuff than other gifts she'd buy me--and she's cool with it. Also, I don't smoke and have maybe a glass of wine with dinner a month so my vices are in check otherwise.

A pack of smokes is 3 bucks. That's a couple hundred dollars a month that could be spent on trains. The same for alcohol--it's expensive. So, you young guys remember to stay hooked on trains, and if someone gives you guff about it, simply say," trains are cheaper and healthier than other things people spend money on, and they stay with me forever--unlike smoke and alcohol that pollute your body and move on."

Getting ready for the move. We sell our old house on Monday and close on our new house next Friday, and have a move in between. So, I'll be signing off early next week for the last time for a while. You guys keep the board moving.

Tell me about it, my case has gone much further. I have gotten a job to support my habit. Back in June a went to a train show in Bastrop, Tx, about 3 hours up the road. I spent $783 on O scale items alone.

HEY GUYS !!!!! GESS WHAT? I HAVE NO MORE MONEY!!!

I spent it all at a train show saturday. I got deal after deal after deal on the stuff I got!

I got a turntable (manual) for $5, a MEC boxcar for $3, and MEC boxcar kit for $7.50, a PRR crearance car for $3 (oringal price was above $3. I got it out of a box the said that every thing inside was $3 end of story) red lights, a dumby F7 unite (which I nicked named F***U unite cause I thought it was a cheep engine that worked but hey I can crash it now with out have to worry about damaging the motor cause it does not have one!) a bumper (dead end pice)

now there is a funny story that goes with the bumper.

It was the end of the show there was hardly anyone left looking at the layout that was set up. I had a $1 left. it was $4.15, I stood there looked like I would really like it but doun't have enought money. I had been to that booth before to the clearance car and the lights so the lady who was running that booth knew that I only had change and no bills, so she gave it to me for my last $1.

I went there with.. are you ready? $18.81 I came out with .14 cents. talk about cutting it close or what? But hey most of it was ready to roll only my MEC kit needed to be put together which took oh about 5 to 10 min. the doors are held in place with white glue and the under frame and the container are held together with white glue. I was up untill 12:45 am using my new items.

I am one happy boy!

this is what happens what Model Railroad disease gets way out of hand!

Hey guys!

Our house has a huge basement and I have an area already picked out. It'll start out 8x8 and probably move to 8x12. I'll have something thrown together by Christmas and I'm psyched! It'll be a different type of plan: 1x6s and 2 inch thick 4x8 styro for the top. It'll be light and I'll see if I like it or want the 2x4s and plywood style.

Thanks for the support. Life is looking up for us.

Hey Dan,

Congrats! That is great news! So hopefully now you will have a little bit of time to get the house set up and throw together a quick holiday layout, perhaps.... So is there a room in the house that you already have picked for a layout, or is that secondary to everything else at the moment?

    Demon,

I'm a PITT alum, so I live and die with my Panthers.  I did a master's at Duquesne, but they're division II or III football and I don't follow them.  As a Pittsburgh native, I'm a Steelers fan as well, so this last weekend only got worse as it went on.  On balance, though, I guess I can't complain.  For a small major city, Pittsburgh has its share of titles--except baseball, which we've given up on long ago.  Though they have quite a few world series titles, but none since 1980.

Hello to all.

Hey Dan,

Who was your college team? I missed most of the games on Saturday because I went out of town to visit friends at Northern Illinois University....

The only games I was able to catch were the Texas Nebraska game, and portions of the ND game.

Can't wait for the Bears bye week to pass so I can get excited about an NFL game like I usually am....
