Just got in from deck building and there is mine. My only "complaint" would be, why in September and the month of October hasn't even gotten here??? Love it and if it were 12 issues in a year, it would be OK. I'm afraid I'm going to have a long dry spell in there and I will have CTT magazine withdrawl. [;)][xx(]

Well, CTT did not arrive, but I got some new catalogs from MTH ! These are about Gauge 1 & Tinplate Traditions. Some nice stuff in there, I must say ! Maybe Monday for the CTT. Thanks, John

I saw them on the counter at Memory Station when I stopped in Thursday but still no sign of mine. Now that I think about it we haven't had any mail yesterday or today, at least no bills and junkmail. Maybe a new government fuel saving ploy, only deliver mail to rural areas three days a week.

Got mine today, as well. The first thing I noticed was the grand prize in this year's sweepstakes: an entire train made out of metal! Now THAT'S a classic toy train! [:D]

I picked one up Sunday morning at a hobby shop in Intervale, NH. I've already read it cover to cover and think it's a great issue. A couple of excellent layouts featured this month. I really enjoyed the whole issue. Can't wait until the next one. I'm thinking of becoming a subscriber, but then again, I had already read the issue before many subscribers even received theirs. At least I'd save some money by doing so.

Yes, you would save some $ by subscribing--always a good thing! I've often wondered why folks get so caught-up in the "got mine first" thing. I mean, what difference does it make whether you receive your copy of a magazine a week or more after somone else got his? It's still new to you, and if it weren't for forums like this, most people wouldn't even know if they received their copy earlier or later than most.

That said, I buy most of my magazines--train subjects and others--at the local B&N or Books-a-Million. But I do this because it provides me the motivation to drive over to these establishments and spend time browsing the other offerings while I'm there. I obviously costs me more money, no question about that, but it also means that a lot more money from my pocket goes to support the magazine and book publishing industry in general because I rarely walk out of these place with just one magazine.

If I was not an avid bookstore browser, I certainly would subscribe, as I do for a few magazines that aren't available in the bookstores, such as "Narrow Gauge and Short Line Gazette", "ZTrack", and a couple of others. Those titles are available in some hobby shops, but that's something of a moot point for me because I don't have a local hobby shop.

That's a good question....Allan
I guess that the kid in most of us, still lives. And as we get older, we try to
keep a part of that. I can remember being the first kid in my neighborhood to get
a Lionel train. That was a thrill. Kind of like going to an amusement park to
thrill to the roller coaster. I, for one, have a lot of kid left in me and I will until
the day I die. Some older folks aren't that lucky. They are just old.

Mine came today but I was almost sidetracked right at the mailbox by my wife's copy of the Fall Victoria's Secret Catalogue[:I]. However I was saved when I noticed that it was all outerwear and boots. [;)]

If I didn't subscribe I would most certainly miss issues and that would be silly. Every issue has at least several points of interest that I read twice. Better yet, when I'm really bored I can go downstairs and pick up an issue from a few years ago and it's like a newly revitalized read! I would bet that buying it off the shelf cost's you at least 2-3 times the cost when you figure driving and wear and tear, and of course, the missed issues are priceless!
