I've been studying Civil War history (as an amateur historian) for some years, with a particular focus on rail transportation during that conflict and also the role of battlefield artists and photographers during the Civil War.

I'm a transplanted Yankee, but the folks at the Civil War Center here have graciously accepted me as a kind of de facto POW-in-residence.

I also enjoy studying military history in general, and serve as the public affairs officer and media liaison for the Corps of Cadets at Virginia Tech.
