Second meeting of The Northern Central High Railers Weds 9/14/05. (new pics)

Folks,

Me and my friend Ralph are starting a new train club the Northern Central High Railers. The club is for people with a home layout that live within a one hour drive of Timonium, Md. 21030.

The purpose of the club is to hold monthly meetings at each other's home layouts. These meeting will be fun casual affairs: running trains, showing off projects, swapping stories, making friends etc. A secondary goal is occasional group visits to local train museums and scenic ralroads.

We are looking for members.

Our first meeting will be at a restaurant in Timonium at 7PM Tuesday July 26th.

We have already attracted some members. We could use a few more. So local guys, if your interested give me a shout, we will limit the group to 10, and we are half way there now.

Well darn, and I just moved too. I don't have a layout anyways, but it would be cool to at least see the club at local museums.

Craig, in your picture website, there is a picture of a MARC F7. Any idea if that is still in use? I just moved to Boonsboro and am no more than a half an hour from the Brunswick CSX / MARC yard. I hope to see it, it is a very nice looking locomotive.

Thanks, I took that shot 3 years ago at Marc's Camden Station.

I hadnt seen it until then, and I havent seen it since. You might try a Google search, or contacting MDOT.

I wish i could join, but I have no O layout. I have HO though. Maybe I could build one. Is there a reguirement as to how big a persons layout has to be to join the club? If not I could build a nifty 4x8. And is Finksburg too far for the club?

We are looking for O gauge layouts, bigger than what you mentioned. Finksburg is close enough.

Folks,

Last night we had our first get together at my house. It was real fun especially after spending months planning the thing.[:)]

"I love it when a plan comes together"[:)]

We now have nine members,. (four coudnt make it due to Summer vacations, Business trips, and an illness)

The five of us had a blast. We started at 7Pm and ran through Midnight. Two members brought trains to run. We had both of my mainlines going, at one time running four trains at once. [8D]

We had some food and drinks and lots of conversation. We are off to a good start. Future monthly meeting were scheduled and are up on our website.

We are looking for a couple more members. If you live within an hour of Timonium, Md. and have a layout in your home, please look at our website and contact us.

I always enjoy have other forum member over for a day of running trains. I consider myself lucky to have so many forum members that live close by.

Our second monthly get-together was at Dave's home in Sparks, Md. on Wednesday 9/14/05 at 7PM.

We had a good turn out, 7 out of 9 members made it. We had some food and drinks, and then commenced to running trains and viewing the layout.

We were all very impressed with Dave's layout and collection of Lionel trains and accessories. I was particulary impressed with the lift bridge, elevated line, and the train washing machine. Some of us brought trains and we had a good time running them on Dave's three loops.

We are still looking for a few new members. If you have a O-Gauge layout and live within an hour's drive of Timonium, Md. please contact me.

We have started to meet on a more regular basses with the OTTS. As word is spreading about a club / get together meeting, more calls I get.

Yes, things seem to be going well with our group.

Its pretty amazing that with just a couple of forum announcements, and flyers left at train shows, we have assembled a group of nine since June of this year.

I think the key is no meetings, round robin weeknight get-togethers, no dues, no elections, keep it simple, fun, and run trains.[:)]

What does OTTS stand for? What does OTTS do differently?

Ohio Toy Train Summit

It started out with just CTT forum member here in NE Ohio. Several of them came over to see my layout. Then one time Buckeye was coming thru town and he stop. Then several others also stop to meet him.

Next Keith (1688torpedo) found out one of his co-workers was also into O gague. And so it has started.

So Far, we have had several meetings at my place and the last one at anothers member house. Just like yours, no dues, no club layout. Just Keep It Trains.

We may have to move to a local place becuase of room, but I pefer it to be simple.

Once you start with a club layout, then you need money, then it becomes a bussiness. Then it seems like you forget about trains, only worry about raising money.
