rideon Mar train

I found a big ride on train called the Pioneer Express. Has rubber wheels, metal handle on top to turn the 2 front wheels, its black with red/gold label on both sides that has the train name. stamped on back with MAR in a circle with an X through it, says made in usa above circle and toys or toy below circle. does anyone have any idea of value or where i could find out its age and value? i rescued it from trash.

I don't know a thing about your item, but I may know somewhere you can call and discuss the item with them. In Wheeling, WV there is a toy museum, Kruger Street Station. They have this type of toy on display

The "MAR" over the "X" is the Marx trademark.

Hi Karen,

[#welcome]

Go to E-Bay and type in "Marx ride on train". I found three there today. Running about $40-45 with several days to go.

Thank You all sooo much, I dont know much about trains other than my grandmother had my uncles Lionels from when he was a kid ( Very Old), ha ha.I Couldn't believe someone threw this out. It's in great shape I have a pic but dont know how to put it on here. When I first saw it by the side of the road I thought they were throwing out some kind of weird looking mailbox, I asked my daughter to get out and pick it up, and I still wasn't sure what it was until I got home and my neighbor said Oh my God I used to have one of those when I was a kid in the '40's. I was shocked. THX ALL.[;)]
