In the garage room. (An Ohio term for the room over the garage.) It is a great train room.

It's in the family room in the basement. Runs around the walls, through the stairs and over the bookshelves.

Had a 10x14 room added onto the back of my house. Than the kids needed more space and a smaller layout move to a smaller room.[:(]

Right in the middle of the basement. That way I can walk around all four sides.

in the garage. Started in the dining room then moved into the garage .It was supposed to go around the Christmas tree (was a present from "Santa") . I tried to talk my wife into parking her car outside but no luck so it was either my car or the train layout, my car now parks outside.Thankfully I'm in So.Cal so except for the fires, rains and earthquakes the car doesn't do too badly sitting outside all the time.

One layout in the livingroom where the Christmas tree use to be, but now its on a table. That is the Thomas the train layout for my 6 year old. The big layout is being built in the garage. I love North Carolina eye room, I mean Buckeye's room wish I had a room above the Garage.

Finished first benchwork last week, more to follow.

temp layout as only a 4 x 8 benchwork is finished. It will be 14 x 8 when done.

Good question snell.

We live in a condo built into a hillside with a walk-out basement. We split the basement into two rooms. The largest is the family room, with the computer, kids toys, and TV.

The smaller third is the train room, which is 17' X 15'. I have my 12' X 12' "L" shaped layout in there. The room has wall to wall and track lighting, so when it comes time to sell, it will make a perfect "home theatre" room for the buyer!

Basement. My dream layout would be in a old super market that went out of business.

On top of the raised crawlspace in the basement (an area of about 14 by 24 ft.) Since it is filled with rocks, I consider it to be the equivalent of pretty solid benchwork...

Mine is in the basement, sort of. We have a raised ranch built into a hill so the downstairs is really a walkout on the south side. Hard to explain.

I guess the "Ohio" term would be the "Barn Room" (2nd floor of my Barn). It is in the early stages, but is a "U" shape of three 4x8 boards, with two levels (031 on one and 027 on the elevated). I'll send pics once I get some more work done.

In the basement. Next to the ping-pong table, across from the basketball hoop, right near the drum set, adjacent to the work bench, and around the corner from the drawing tables.
Gee we have some fun down there.

The layout is in the "train cellar", our unique combination of a train room and wine cellar. The layout sits 40" off the floor, and has a series of wine racks underneath. The racks are not connected to the table, to ensure that vibrations from the trains don't disturb the aging wines.

Probably just a northern Califrornia thing...

All my trains are in the basement. I'm quite lucky that I have it, as years ago my parents were considering buying a house in town that didn't have a basement before they decided to build our house. If I didn't have a basement, I don't know what I'd do!
