If that's the case, and it's understandable, the best advice I can give (and most likely you've thought of it anyway) is find a museum to donate the collection to (assuming they can use it) or auction it off and divide the proceeds with your museum membership.
It's sad to see a rail museum go.

Doc appointment went good. No bad news....this time.
Tomorrow is a full day of fire training, should be fun and interesting.
Off to Strasberg tomorrow night, to give the Queen of Steam one last look and ride on Sunday. Should be a grand time. We're going to try to make time for the PA railroad museum across the street, the Casy Jones Restaurant at the Red Caboose Motel and see if we can find our departed friend Banks brick at the toy train museum. Sunday will be a Waffle House Breakfast. We'll raise a glass of Orange Juice in Memory of Mom (she loved going there).
We may make a short detour to Atglen to see if Stoltzfus Structures has a garage we can look at. They will be closed, but we want to take a peek.
Weekend in PA shows to be 76F and partly Sunny.
Planning for our garage/toy box/train depot continues......

Glad to be back, This past Monday evening while cutting grass on my rider, I felt some tightness in my chest a sharp pain and momentary short of breath, ( no I didn't have a heart attack ) But I did go to the V.A. wednesday morning ( I know I should of gone Monday, I'm thick headed ) Anyway I got a couple free night stay at the V.A. They did a chemical stress test and a echocardigram yesterday, and they still want me back for a heart cath. Feeling good at present, but more to come in the future.
Evenin' guys and gals. Breezy and sunny in the Potomac Highlands. If you have seasonal allergies, woof. Spent day at Middle Princess castle, painting trim and leveling some landscape. Whooped. One of my chapter brethern wants me to look at his PW Lionel collection this weekend. He is downsizing.

Evenin' guys and gals. Sunny & 70's in the Potomac Highlands. Spent morning at the RR museum and Chapter caboose. Then picked up middle princess to buy paint for the new nursery. Also picked up some color swatches to try and match the sea foam green inside the caboose.
Well, my chapter buddy handed over a half dozen boxes of HO and Lionel trains, tracks, buildings, etc. The HO stuff was all tyco. But highlights of the Big L stuff was:
2344 NYC F3 A-B-A (TCA C4 condition)
624 C & O NW2 (C6)
RW 110 transformer (good shape, but throttle stripped)
6457 Brown caboose (great shape)
6456 LV hopper, 6468 B&O boxcar, 6656 livestock car, 6462 NYC gon, 3461 log car, and a 3472 milk car + platform
Was happy to receive this collection, especially the switcher and caboose.

60* going to 76* todayNo real news for today. I bought 3 prewar standard gauge passenger cars with 6 wheel trucks, all where missing some wheels and axles, I ordered and got 11 axles and 22 wheels from Jeff, ( now in his defense he has no control over what he gets and can not check every item. ) I got my wheels and axles in yesterday ( all 22 wheels) 7 the hole in the wheels seem just a hair or two to small, So need to take a drill to them. But do have 2 1/2 of the cars with new wheels and axles back together out of 3 lol. I'm going to go see friend Jeffery tomorrow so will bring the car and the wheels down to him. He does repairs for a hobby shop in West Columbia, S.C., he is the one which has been repainting passenger cars and the engine. Time to take my meds and make some breakfast.

A nice laid back day I had today....
Mornin' guys and gals. Sunny and 56 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Yesterday walked around and picked up the mess that a bear made. Trail cam caught him at 0238 hrs taking down the bird feeder. He is very mangy and gaunt, and will have a problem getting a prom date. The cool thing is, he showed up on the same day a year ago. Been slowly taking apart and cleaning the 2193W set. I'm trying to find a good way to restore the luster and finish on the NYC F units.
Morning all, presently 66* going to 78* today.
Fife that lack of luster has been a problem on all of them, not sure how other than trying small spots with maybe some type of wax, maybe a car wax. Some have a rubbing compound built into the wax that might help or might hurt not sure. Suggestion thou contact Harry Henning at Henningstrains.com he might be able to help, when asked which say the 3rd. He does restorations and repaints.

If the paint's deteriorated to a point where it's lost its luster you could try a good paste wax. Waxes usually don't have any abrasive in them but a polish might so I'd stay away from polishes. I definately wouldn't put any kind of oil on the surface, long term it'll just make things worse.

Try upping the voltage to between 20 and 24. My super motor won't go at all with less than 20 volts

Weekend is looming - It will be a typical weekend for us - Sunday/Monday off and then regular week.
In Laws will be up on Sunday, so that will kill any car related things I wanted to do.
Monday will be early - Memorial Service at the cemetary, then Parade #1 in town at 9 and Parade #2 in Cranbury (next town north) at noon. I do color guard
Purchased a 2035 from NY Electric Trains live sale last night while doing "things", like getting my fire certs together and getting to the Chief of the department.
Last weekend visited the 611 at Strasberg, PA, as she heads back to VA in June. It was a nice day away, took in the Toy Train Museum and dinner at the Casey Jones restaurant at the Red Caboose Motel. REALLY GREAT FOOD there!!
Got pictures of John Fullerton and (RIP) Bank's bricks (both posters here) at the Toy Train Museum - damned if I know how to post them here....
Still planning for our 2 story garage and train room - we saw what it looked like in person on our way home from Strasberg - it's gonna be sweet.....

Just a thought, but have you tried adding some weight to those single motor engines? Sometimes that extra weight which gives them a bit more traction can make the difference. It's worked on my post-war O Gauge engines that needed it.
Adding weight to some of my REA cars that I run on the head ends of my passenger trains has helped with tracking problems as well.

Mornin' guys and gals. Cloudy and 55 along the Allegheny front-range. It's my take it easy day, before a busy week. My buddy Tom is arriving this afternoon, and FifeMax will be happy. He loves the big guy. Steaks on the grill, for sure.Accomplished my Daddy-doos for Middle Princess, and she loves the colors in the new nursery. Hoping she goes full-term this time, with Leo. Spent time at the chapter caboose yesterday. Had a nice sit-down with our Prez, and we discussed painting the interior of CRR 1072, prior to moving some of the museum collection within, among other things...

Sure is difficult for me to get a post here, I intend to more days than not, but as soon as I open the page my mind goes blank trying to think of something interesting or pertinent to post. So just some random thoughts;First and foremost don't forget to think about all our fallen service members who have given so much for the country we enjoy.Since we have been back from our trip to Wisconsin, things have been a whirlwind.- I ended up having to have the catalytic converter replaced in the El Camino in order to pass SMOG test. ($800), but not too bad I guess it was last replaced in 2006. - Then ended up having to replace the battery as well, which was kinda funny. The battery had a 24 mth warranty, and it was 21 mths old. I bought it from Pep Boys (local auto parts store). They have discontinued all parts sales, but maintain a service center. When I confronted them it wouldn't maintain a charge, they didn't have the equivalent battery I needed. Instead they offered me an upgraded battery for $100, BUT it would only be covered for 3 months, (existing warranty life). I insisted that wasn't an acceptable option. So finally they told to go by a battery else where, and show them my receipt, then they would refund my original purchase price ($145). So I checked out Costco, and they had a equivalent 36 mth battery for $85, bought it and got the $145 refund. I was shocked!With the truck Chris got in Wis, he only had 1 key Fob for it. So his birthday was yesterday, got him a new Fob. Now what was interesting is the locksmith showed me how easy it is to take the tailgate off, and said it is a more popular item stolen from pick-ups than the catalytic converter. Our neighbors was stolen from the driveway a couple of years ago. Simply have to remove two bolts that hold the cables in place, and lift the tailgate up on one side and slide it off! (To accommodate loading needs). He showed me a lock that fits over the hinge pins and prevents the tailgate from being removed. The lock is a "C" type lock with a key to open, and is cheap $30, so got him that also. Those of you with pick-ups may want to look tail gate locks on the Internet.Then Kay found some termite evidence in the house, so now we are having the exterminators out this next week. Not going to tent the house, but they will inject treatmens to the areas of concern, and all open/exposed wood framing. Bad news is I have to get ALL the train boxes out of the attic! Oh Well.Good news is the family is doing really well, nobody sick or having any issues!Today going to be a low-key day, Watch the Indy 500, and Charlotte 600, a full day of racing! 63* going to 77* today. Glad to see the sun this a.m., we have gotten much needed rain over the past two days. Wife want to go shopping for more clothes, who knows why, has closet full, LOL. I might go twice a year and that's for a couple more pair of dungarees and a few T-Shirts. LOLNo new train news. Need to rearange the standard gauge trains on the shelves. Hope all have a good week
63* going to 74* today. Partly cloudy days.Didn't go yesterday so wife wants to go shopping today.Otherwise no plans for today. My green passenger cars suppose to be here tomorrow, so are my wheels for my green engine. :) I need to drill out the stud holding the broken coupler on the engine and fix the coupler. Also have a coupler on one of the cars I got in, and need to install the 5 couplers on the passenger cars that were repainted. So I have some work ahead of me. That's it for train news. Jenni is recovering from her cortisone shot in her right wrist, not as painfull as yesterday but still bad. Did local Pizza Hut for something different.
Took the bike to meet her at her house, did dinner, left the bike at her house.
We had the Magnum in for service so we picked that up on the way home.
Just recieved my 2035 with 6466W whistling tender from NY Electric Trains - and just pulled the trigger on a 1615 switcher w/1615T slope back tender and 3 cars for $180 shipped. I have a project 2035 and a project 1615 so both can go up for sale.
Next train show is Greenburgs in August, so I'm assembling items and may do that sale so I can lessen the load.
Progress on the garage/toy box, pretty sure we know the placement and orientation of the structure. I'll need to clear the area of the structure so I can get the foundation eyeballed.
Softball tonight and fire drill tomorrow night, so I'll be occupied.
Did my duty on Memorial day - early morning color guard service at the cemetary and 2 miles in full dress with a flag for our local parade. Did a ride along in the 2nd parade in Cranbury, NJ - I was beat.

look at it this way- you've got a room full of trains at least, why do you need more? There's always something nice out there that would look lovely in your collection.
As someone who enjoys clothes and trains, I can comfortably say the same rules roughly apply to both! Of course, trains come first for me :)

Uh-huh. After putting myself on a diet and losing 35 pounds I've got to go shopping for new pants, the 40" waist on the old ones isn't working anymore! Money I can't spend on trains!
On the other hand I look and feel SO much better!
