Flint,  That's really tough!  Its never easy, but sometimes passing does provide releif.  My mother had the same issue.  But, fortunately the memories last forever!!

WOW mixed bag on here, happiness and sadness.

Fife congratulations on you daughter getting her BS.  Yes

Flint, sorry on your father’s passing but it sounds like he had a long haul. You may be in pain but you have also been blessed. I lost my father when I was 39 and my mother when I was 6 so you have done well. Life has no paved roads.  Tongue Tied

We got a very much needed 2.4” of rain overnight from a storm that was full of lighting and thunder. I took the pup out on the front porch and we sat through a lot of it in hopes I could get her to be brave and not freak out. It worked, she just sat there with me and watched everything going on cool and collected. There were a couple claps of thunder that got her attention. Smile, Wink & Grin

Mornin' guys and gals. Rain and 60, and very green along the Patterson Creek cut-off. May visit our local floral farm, since the frost is behind us.

Yesterday was a beehive of activity at Fifedom. We had a tree service cut down and clean up a dead maple, that was close to the house. Wifey and youngest princess swabbed the deck. PirateRrr... I cleaned the patio furniture, and otherwise made myself look busy.Cool

Hey, good afternooon

Flint - My condolences - Angel

Fife - Congrats!!!!

Got a lot done on the household front - The lawn tractor we bought had a blown motor, Fortunatly, they are both Craftman, so I did a motor swap on Sunday and we now have a riding mower again.  I'll probably rebuild the blown 15.5 HP Briggs.

Applied for a HELOC to fund the garage/toy box, so we're waiting on that.

Took the battery out of Jenni's Vespa to get that charged up, once I get to a point, probably Friday, I'll get the Vespa running again.

Line/Exec meeting tonight and then regular meeting on Thursday.  Heading to Strasburg in 2 weeks.

That's all from here - for now

Much condolences to Wayne
And congrats to Fife

Weather out here has been lovely lately- can’t get outside enough! That said... we're still at the height of tick season. The cats aren’t allowed outside, but some have still wound up hitching a ride inside. I try to be thorough- hopefully soon enough the local bird population gets things in check.

It looks like I finally have some work again! A friend has more or less inherrited his grandfather's Lionel O gauge (some pre, mostly postwar) and needs some help getting things moving (smoothly) again. It's looking likely that I'll be working on some, but not all of his stuff- I'll probably be tackling the tougher jobs, and helping him with getting the hang of doing the easier stuff himself. Very excited! Will update when there's more to report.

PS: Still chipping away at rehabilitating a particularly crusty 6466W tender that goes with the 2026 (50s version) I just worked on. It'll probably be taking a backseat while I take on my new 'revenue' work.

Morning to all. Haven't posted since York. Condolences to Flint, never easy losing a parent. Congratulations to Fife and family

We arrived at our son and daughter-in-law's house on Saturday to visit our 3 month old grandson. He's so sweet. Last night his Mom and Dad went to the Brewers game and we stayed with him. Quite an adventure.

At York I found what I thought was a good deal on an MTH Flying Yankee set. https://share.icloud.com/photos/0e4eYpUJ2rwavsqGLkXdGjdnwI love streamline trains.  Brought it home and tried to run it and it was DOA. Found a local repair person through a buddy that only works on MTH trains. The man is a Miracle Worker! He had it cleaned up and running returned to me in 3 days. So impressed.

Upon our return I have many projects to tackle including installation of a new camshaft in a Briggs engine on my lawn tractor, repair of a string trimmer, and a layout rebuild. Hope to get the lawn equipment done first and then tackle the track replacement/reconfiguration.

Beautiful weather here in Wauwatosa, WI. Hope to tackle some projects for my son today.

Take Care,

Mitch

Evening,

Went to a minor league baseball game today, and actually got a fly ball. (It flew into the suite I was in with a group, so I ran over and picked it up after it landed.)

Not much else to report here, though I did talk with my friend who is going to help me build my layout today before I went to the game.

Mornin' guys and gals. Sunny & 48 along the Patterson Creek cut-off, but getting up to 82 today. I put all that learnin' the youngest princess got to good use, mulching the backyard flower beds. Looks great. Meanwhile, I mowed the whole property and edged and weedy-whacked. Worn out. Steaks on the grill.

Bought to me a new truck yesterday. A 2018 chevy silverado 1500 Z71.

My old truck 1) ac went out in it, something needed down here. 2) the navigation system, which I rely on if I go anywhere not familiar with or not local, became obsolete as of 1 January 2023. So got thinking whats next.

Train wise not much going on here, I made a order for some wheels and axles for some standard gauge passenger cars. the wheels were a bit small and the axles where to thick.

Otherwise not much going on here. hope all have a good day.

rt - Nice wheels. YesCool

Yesterday, took my pretty little bride up to Deep Creek Lake, for her Mom's day treat. Did our ususal circuit of "stuff" shopping, and I picked up n AF 947 NP reefer, at Englanders. Had an enjoyable meal at Ace's.

In case you haven't heard CSX has just released a B&O HERITAGE unit, 1827. Word is more fallen flag liveries to follow.

NICE trusk Bill. Yes I use the navigation from the phone through the truck screen. Works great. I sure miss my Silverado. It was the best truck I have ever had for comfort. The Colorado is okay but no Silverado.

Wife got here first SS payment this week, maybe she will buy me a new one. Laugh

No solid plans for her speical day Sunday, guess we will just see who shows up. Both kids have Alpha families on their other half's sides, if you know what I am saying.

Nice 1/2" of rain today will perk up the lawn feed I put down yesterday on the southeast corner and around the house and shed.

Other than that just training with the pup.

Being 4 wheel drive it's a little bit stiffer than my old truck but still comfortable to ride in.

Mornin' guys and gals. Clearing and 58 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. My old neighbor (and great friend) called me last night, to inform me his wife, Shelly, is undergoing kidney cancer surgery today. Shook me up.

Otherwise, been quietly working outside, and painting Middle Princess's living room this week. Also been working on a Lionel 2224w tender (1941), which had been shorting out (axle) and got the whistle working as well. Still enjoying my PW May run.

Aloha. Happy Wednesday. A bit cooler today so I'll take the dogs out for a walk near the top of the day. My belated condolences to you, Flint, on your dad's passing. And congrats to your daughter, Fife. I hope your friend's surgery goes smoothly. Wauwatosa isn't that far from us in my part of Illinois. Looks like a quieter day at work today so I will be able to carve out some time to prep a brocolli casserole for dinner.

Good Morning,

Finally getting a little warmer here, only in the low 70's.  And no rain!

Did a deep cleaning in the garage last couple of days, cant remember it being so well organized!  Love it.  That time again for smog tests on both vehicles, Explorer passed yesterday, El Camino's turn today, keeping fingers crossed.  They do extra tests on it because of age. (36 yrs).  Fortunately, years ago had dual exhaust put on, and they only put a probe in one tail pipe.

Should be able to spend some time in Train room, its been awhile.  Need to clean track and do engine maintaince, looking forward to it.

Take care all and stay healthy!

Aloha and Happy Thursday. Looks like a beautiful day is on tap. Not too many meetings today for work. I finished a big report yesterday that is a relief. Highlight of the day was taking the dogs for a walk at the end of the day. Plan leftovers for dinner tonight.

DonB, it sure feels good to re-organize. I am looking forward to some train time too - layout needs dusting and track cleaning. Ivor has to get out to stretch his legs and I usually run a few clockwork engines just to keep their coils 'active' - I have a 23 year old Honda that I expect to have to tinker with to pass the emissions tests here.

I can't believe they do emissions/smog tests on vehicles that old considering they're definately in the minority of vehicles on the road, but what are you gonna do?  You'd think antique (Yes, it's hard for me to believe a 36 year old vehicle is considered an antique!) would have some kind of exemption.  Bang Head

Mornin' guys and gals. Sunny & 58 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Had to  bring in the flower pots and Ms Kelly's maters, as we had a late season frost warning overnight. The night before, we had a bear destroy our bird feeders. Unfortunately the trail cam only caught a fuzzy armpit.

Shelly's surgery went well, and she's resting in her hospital room.YesBig Smile

We got bad news at our NRHS chapter meeting last night. Canal Place is not renewing the museum's lease, and we have to be out by July 1...bummer!

Oh man, that sucks 'Fife!  Sorry to hear it.

I guess the only way to avoid things like this is to purchase a property outright but obviously that's something easier said than done.

Maybe you folks can try an alliance or amalgamation with another rail preservation organization not too far away?  Again, I know it's easier said than done.

Flint - Me thinks we're getting out of the museum biz alltogether. That's fine. Some of the collection will go in the caboose, but a lot has to be sorted out. Most chapters don't have such ventures, anyway...just sayin'...
