Good Evening All!

Mitch, Congrats!  On the BABY!!!!!

Leaving Superior Wis, in the am.  Heading toward Green Bay, going to another lost in the woods place, Crivitz Wi..  My Paternal ancestors all came from here.  Both my grandfather's .and grandmother's families lived their in the 1890's.  We are going to be taking them a couple of trophies, a 7 pt Buck, (name "Buck"), and a white sheep head from Alaska (named "Billy") from Kay's family in Superior.  The last time I was in Crivitz I believe I was 10 yrs old.  So that will be interesting.

Then we will go into Green Bay, and visit the Packers house.  Then down to Milwaukee area.  After a couple of days there, onto Branson, then home.  Have been having a great time and helping Kay's elderly Aunt

I imagine the York show is going on strong, (I hope).  Definetly would enjoy going again, but doubt it will happen, the last thing I need is to buy more trains.  Would sure like to see everyone again though!  Hope everyone finds the bargins they are hoping for!!!!

Chris and the NEW truck are doing great!  We had the truck's oil changed, and put new belts on it, before starting back to So. Cal to THAW out!!  He asked me when he has to go to a job site, IF he could leave the truck at our house, since he has to use either use a state vehicle or a rental.  So I JUST had to agree!  (It is my responsibility to help him when I can, right?

While we were in Superior we filled the truck up with all kinds of "boy toys", tools, grinders, compressors, harware, skiis, snow shoes, and much more to take home.  (Again, helping Kay's Aunt by getting rid of some of the "Junk" she didn't want around.

About all I have for now, COLD and Tired so going to call it a day.

Best of luck to all the Yorkees!

Life is great. We have our first grandchild, Charlie Jack who was  born February 1st. Our Son and Daugter-in-Law live just outside of Milwaukee. We visited when he was a week old and will be visiting again soon. I can see some trips to Trainfest in my future. Wink

Good Morning Train Fans,

I haven't dropped in a long while. Once again it's time for Spring York. Hope to see some of you there.

Looking forward to meeting up with Kirk from USA Track LLC to pick up new standard gauge track to make a 5 rail loop combining Standard Gauge and O Gauge on a layout rebuild.

Hello,

A fine replacement for yesterday's high 30s to 40s and rain is today's mid 50s and sun. Yes

Doug, I also was fortunate to have Don stop by for a short visit and a lunch when he did his coast to coast trip a few years back. He is a great guy.

Doubt I see much from that meger we are close to a BNSF main line and the old Rock Island main line from Joliet to Rock Island runs right through downtown Marseilles. Now it is CSX.

The new pup is two weeks post op today and now free to start playing ball again. Hope it will help he burn up some of the engery she has. Got to take it slow.

Bout it from a sunny Deadwood Acers on the North Bluff above Marseilles. Wink

cnw1995 - Kindly keep that snohizo in those northern territories, thank you. I prefer CP solid red livery over the KCS heritage scheme.

Aloha and Happy Tuesday. Sunny today after yesterday's below-freezing cold. We got a couple of inches of snow too but that should be gone after today's 50 degrees.

I am glad Don and Northwoods got together - I was fortunate to meet Don in person a number of years ago too. I am glad Chris got such a fine truck.

Fife, I think that CSX unit (911) is headed out here. I expect to see more KCS power now that the CP merger is going through.

Mornin' guys and gals. Mostly sunny & 49 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Already made myself breakfast, vacuumed the den, and ironed a half dozen shirts. Nothing else on tap.

Yesterday, was done mowing by noon, and checked the Heritage Unit page to see what was nearby. CSX 5327 (Western Maryland logo) was readying to head east, so I chased it all the way to Pawpaw, WV. Been trying to shoot this unit for four years. Still no luck catching CSX 911, as it scooted thru town overnight heading west.

Fife, Thanks for the generous compliment!  Don't know if I can live up to that!  Any way I am finding Duluth comfortable, I'm wearing 3 T-Shirts, 2 Sweatshirts, an electric vest, and jacket I purchase in Alaska, and staying inside!

But we are making progress helping Kays 86 yr old Aunt, probably be here till Thursday.  BTW Duluth snowfall this year.....195"

Later Don

Mornin' guys and gals. Went from pleasant 80's to pleasant 50's overnight. Speaking of overnight, line of thunderstorms upset FifeMax, causing one of us to sleep on the downstairs couch and hold his little paw...

Spent yesterday trackside up in Cumberland, first railfanning (trying to track down CSX 911), then at the Chapter caboose. Came home to BBQ dinner, then watched the race.

Today, must give Caesar what is Caesar's...then cut the lawn.

If ever our forum had a Good Will Ambassador, it is Don Baker. Nice story on the truck. Wish I could join you in Duluth. No wait, wish I could join you in Duluth, in July.

WOW Don, 972 miles, what a great deal. He will love that truck. Is it a Z71 with a 5.3. If so sounds just like the one I had. I loved that truck for everything but the rust issues that you will not have with it out west. Chris will love it.

Serviced the Gator 590i this week. Hard to think it is pushing 7 years old and has over 900+ hours with 9,400+ miles.

80s from yesterday are 40s today and rain with 1.5 of the white stuff on the way. Better next week but what do you want for April?

Best get.

(Edit  When I posted this Don's posting was blank so I thought I would fill you in. By the time I got it written and posted he had posted.)

I think that Don is trying to tell you that we had lunch together yesterday.  He is in the area on some family business and after many years we finally got to meet in person.  We had a great time talking about trains and remembering many of the past members of the coffee pot. Lots of talk about the good old days. Boy did we swap some great stories.

Unfortunately my photo hosting site won't let me post the photos that I took.  I sent him a copy of the photo and it looks like he can't post them either.  Just imagine two guys sitting at a table with big smiles on their faces.

Enjoying the World's Greatest Hobby and the Friends I've made along the way.

Northwoods Flyer

PS  Its snowing here again today with a prediction of 3-6 inches here in the Duluth area along with freezing rain.  I guess we are back to winter for a few days.  We might even break the all time snow record.

 Good Morning!

(Will try this again!)

We are in Duluth, and I had the great oppurtunity to meet up with the "Northwoods Flyer", yesterday!!  After 12 to 14 years on the forum, it is really great to meet him.  A really nice guy!  He even bought me lunch!

My wife has family here in Superor, Wi., her Aunt lives here with her Brother, (Kay's Uncle).  He passed 1 year ago, and they wanted to give Chris (my Son) their truck that she wanted to get rid of.  We just need to come and get it.  The truck is a 2011 Chevy Silverado, 4x4, Ext Cab.  So Chris was really excited about it!  Kay and I get here and of course it would not start.  (No Surprise)  So I try to jump it, then put a charger on it and still nothing, so decide just to replace the battery.  Bought the battery, and was still stymied because there was no power to anything!  Talked with a guy at O'Reillys and he ended up coming over to the house.  Between the two of us we found a fuse ON the "+" post of the battery.  Checking that out, found that there was not a continuity thru the fuse, replaced it ($5.29), and Wha-La, everything came to life.   And even started it!  Now the truck is pristine! It has been in the garage all its life, and NEVER driven in the snow or ice!  Tires are great, body, interior spotless.  Now this is the killer...... Getting power on, checked the Odometer,  THE TRUCK HAS A TOTAL OF 972 MILES ON IT!!!  I still can't believe it!  The guy from OReillys and I sat in the front seat and spoke nothing but explectives for 5 minutes as a result of shock.

Chris is flying in today, and with a few more days here, we will then be heading back out west.  Un Real.

Additionally, she also has a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am, she wanted us to sell for her while we are here.  The clerk from OReilly's wants to buy that, it only has 55900 miles on it, and also lived in the garage.

More to come in the nexte few days.

Just had to share!

Thanks so much Gregg for your hospitlality!!

Take care and Be Safe!

KRM
just wondering when we will pay for these last few days in the mid 80s?

Supposed to hit Cleveland on Sunday so I'm guessing Illinois will get the cold blast half a day ahead of us.

Looks like your right about that. Tongue Tied

Mornin' guys and gals. Damp and 64 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. We need the rain, and I just sat out the potted plants for watering. Had intended on attending the train show at Martinsburg Roundhouse, but just don't feel like going it alone. I'll have to wait for the Sharpsburg show at the end of the month. Cheerios with blueberries for breakfast.

We went hiking on the GAP yesterday, and Middle Princess and grandtoddler came along. Then we ruined our effort with ice cream right after... Ms Kelly wanted Cracker Barrell for dinner, but the food was uncharacteristicly lousy last night. Woof.

Been 60's and 70's here in mid Mo. the last few days.  Supposed to rain tomorrow and drop into the 50's.

This will kind of put a damper on progress on my front porch roofprogress.  Getting close.  A few more facia boards to go up, then I'll be ready to put the decking down and get the roofing contractor here to put the membrane material on.

Just LOOKING in,

not much new, just wondering when we will pay for these last few days in the mid 80s?

Sounds like soon enough. Been doing yard stuff and trying to keep Agnes mellow to heal up. She was doing very good,,,,,,,,,,,till 6 days in and she decided to pull off her wrap over the dewclaw removal and lick the stiches right out. AngryAngry

So that put a damper on things but other than that she is about herself again. Still no playing ball or running nuts alowed.

Wife is flower shopping with the daughter today so just me and mutly hanging out at Deadwood Acres on the North Bluff above Marsellies.

Be good!

Mornin' guys and gals. Sunny and pleasant in the Potomac Highlands. Spent yesterday gardening, and planting another row of flox on our steep hillside. Sprained my left thumb in the process.

Wifey wants to go clothes shopping today, as this her birthday "week."

Aloha. Happy Wednesday. Another gorgeous day in this part of Illinois. Sunny, warm - may hit 80! That is wonderful as next week looks like it won't get out of the 40s. Just a normal spring. Highlight of yesterday was taking the dogs out for a walk after work and helping find a puppy that got out of his house. Made a quick pasta with red sauce for dinner.  Hope to get a walk in today too!

Mornin' guys and gals. Sunny but chilly along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Grandmom watching toddler over at Middle Princess's castle. I will take her some breakfast after while, and then help with the lad.

Had a nice Easter meal, and egg hunt, at Fifedom yesterday. Toddler enjoyed playing with FifeMax, and wanted to see the Train Room for a little bit. Have to hold him, because he likes to grab and throw everything he gets his hands on. But did give a kiss to Fifepops before he went home. Got one from Youngest Princess too, before she drove back to campus. She only has two more weeks.

Happy Good Friday, peeps! Cloudy and 52 in the Potomac Highlands. Wifey is back in Fifedom, and all is in order again. The fam is headed out to see some kind of Dino exhibit, in Morgantown. I'm staying behind on dog duty, but I did clean, detail, and fuel the Durango for their journey...
