Don, Blizzard you already are planning it,,,stay home it will melt out there. Sounds like that truck may be a real nice thing to have. Is it a Z71 4x4?
Doug all we got out of the storm was about an inch of rain and dog mud prints all over the inside of the house. Things are drying out today.
Mark Martin was my guy but today it is Kevin Harvick and he is pretty much washed up.
Not much else going on around here.

Aloha and TGIF. I am glad to see the sun this morning and whilst it is only in the 20s, the ice has melted. We got our internet back last night and never lost power unlike the other side of our town which may see the power back by Sunday. There are a lot of trees and branches down here. The city is arranging a pickup for Monday. i found a guy who will cut down and chip the fallen branches for less than $200 which I think is a good deal. I will spend the weekend cleaning everything else up. We're supposed to get a warm up that will help.
My favorite NASCAR drivers have retired or left. I would like to pick someone new to follow but the options are pretty colorless and the 'playoffs' are impossible for me to follow. Hope everyone has a great day!

Afternoon,
Nothing much going on here.
I did order a Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis shirt from Ringaboy and it arrived today, so there's that.
Good Morning,
So far all is good at our place, winds blew the obvious around a bit, (patio umbrella, empty trash can, cant believe I didn't take the umbrella down). Still dark out, can't see the rain gauge, according to news we got over 4.5" of rain. The river channel behind our house looks like it is 3/4 full. Water is really flowing by FAST!
Had some really good medical news this week! I've been diagnosed with 2 heart conditions, an aerotic annuism, and a valve condition. LB VA, sent me to the LA VA cardiac clinic this week. The annurism is smaller than thought, and does not require immediate attention, just bi-annual monitoring. Same with the valve, its functioning but at 85%, so just need to be monitored. Great News! (LA facility has Cardiologists from USC & UCLA med schools on staff so thats really comforting). Then had to have an eye injection for Macular Degeneration, (have been treated with monthly eye injections for 5 years or so). Do to a NEW medicine being available, treatments been extended to 6 week intervals, instead of 4 weeks! Great!!! (Injections are NOT painful, as you would think, but great to know condition is responding so well to new meds!) So that was really great!
The "Blizzard" condition is still in place, and isolated snow is appearing in isolated areas within LA basin, but record setting accumulation in local mtns. (Snow level down to elevations of 1,100 feet) We are at about 50 feet. Still setting rainfall records all over, both for volume (upto 2"/hr, and volume 4-7 inches).
Doug/Kevin, glad you guys aren't getting the brunt of the storm! From what I'm hearing here, is that OUR current storm band is over 1,000 miles wide. And the storm track looks like its going to be heading towards the Mid-West. Then we have another one of the coast expected to be here Mon/Tues, and more behind that! Hopefully it all will have a positive impact on the drought, one would think so.
Nascar, I so much look forward to the racing season, I'm a dedicated fan. Many of the changes I didn't like but have grown to understand them and they arn't too bad. The majority have all been for safety, largely due to Dale Earnhardt Sr's death. The "Stage" concept was introduced to break up the mononety of the longer super speedway races. And it is good, as is the "Choose Diamond" on restarts. The scoring for the season championship, is very similiar to the "Final 16" method used in Basketball. Then of course there is the "Political Correctness Issues", not much to be said there. And, of course NASCAR recognizes the the demographics of the fans are changing. Lots of us older guys, (esp "Red Necks") are dieing off. And they are trying to attract more younger people. Im really curious whats going to happen in 2025 forward, what will happen regarding electric vehicles! It didn't last very long when Indy cars tried it, but that was a long time ago!
As far as favorite driver, I change 3 or 4 times a year, usually favoring the older drivers, and underdogs. However, seing the young guys come up like Ty Gibbs is very interesting. Would like to see a significant female make a impact.
Thanks for all the Blizzard Prep advice,
Smokey1, Its a bit wet outside, so think will delay the grill for a week or two. Concentrate on "comfort food".
Fifedog, Chains? Could you imagine the impact in the pits? LOL
Anjdevil 2, Great advice! Definetly staying home1
Kevin, Unfortunately, don't have hardly ANY information on the truck, she is 88/89, and pretty much homebound. Wouldn't want her to try and go out to the garage to get information. I doubt its a Z71! probably a 1500, an have basic features. We will see what he gets in a month or two.
Pennytrains, There is some good news, some of the older tracks are being brought back, including Martinsville Apr 16, Wilksboro NC May 21, then Chicago Street Race on July 2. And Bristol is still on the schedule Sep 16.
However, the race this weekend is one of the boringest of the season, Ive been to Fontana a number of times, and always wonder why I went. Oh Well !
Sorry to make this so long, going to go and check windows for leaks.
Take care ALL and be Safe!
Don
Afternoon FellasNice seeing Don posting again. Now that he is snowed in the stories should be entertaining. I survived wrestling season... yes Matthew joined a wrestling club in November and really liked it. He improved during every tournament and earned a bronze medal at his last tourney.Didn't make it to Fife's during New Years... the kids were just too tempermental to risk a stop-in.Still no movement on my train room for now.Hope to stop by more often.

Mornin' guys and gals. Freezing fog along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Get to watch NASCAR double-header today. We've been road warriors this past week, and I just want to stay in and relax. Youngest Princess is home this weekend, so that's nice too.
88 - Does Matt prefer cage, or ladder matches? What is his signature move?
Don - Pits? No-no-no-no. Drivers should have to find a open gas station for fuel, outside the track. And if they blow a tire, they have to call AAA... And instead of stage racing, periodically have State Highway trucks plow and salt the surface. That'll bunch'em up.
Think I'll have my first cup of now.
I haven't posted for a while, mostly because I have not been active with trains lately. Mentoring the high school robotics team and work on our 100 year old house has been taking most of my time
The robotics team is fielding an upper class robot and an under class robot this year. Doing this builds more experience for the freshman and sophomore students than just building one robot.
The robots are built and running. Programming development continues and small mechanical improvements are being made when something breaks. The team leaves Wednesday for our first competition in Arkansas. Setup and practice on Thursday, qualification matches on Friday, finals on Saturday.
Unfortunately, my wife and I have to cancel travelling with them. My wife was feeling poorly Friday afternoon. We got a Covid test kit Saturday, and she tested positive. That takes both of us out of action for at least a week. Fortunately, she seems to be having a mild case of the stuff, kind of like a heavy case of the flu, so far.
I suppose the good side of that is it leaves me more time to work on the rebuild of our front porch. I'm working on rebuilding the roof now. Got the ledger board mounted, one of the 6x6 corner posts up and tied into the house with a 2x12 beam that is about 10' long. Starting on the 6x6 corner post and beam on the other end of the house. If all goes well, I'll be hanging rafters later this week.
On the train front, I got a new Lionel catalog from Charles Ro. I'm going to bite on the Hogwarts passenger cars, the Wonder Woman flat car, and maybe the Texas Special passenger train set.
Aloha and Happy Monday! Had a quiet weekend highlighted by dinner with my inlaws on Saturday. I didn't feel so hot all weekend so rested and stayed away from church in case i got something. Everyone at Kelly's school in the admin has Covid. She has dodged it so far. We got a few inches of surprise snow on Saturday morning but it hit 50 degrees yesterday and all melted. Today it may not get that high in temps but it is supposed to rain all day.
I broke out the clock-work engine yesterday and ran it on the big layout. Lots of budget drama expected today at work along with lots of long meetings. I am looking forward to a meeting tonight with a organization that helps churches rethink their property - our church has 5 acres and multiple buildings in the middle of our town and maybe 60 members so i want to think creatively about it all.
Afternoon.
Well, I'm going to be able to go to the Piedmont Divison Model Train Show in Cartersville, GA this year! Looking forward to going!
Evenin' guys and gals. Soggy in the 40's at Fifedom. Before the rains came, was able to clear the flower beds, and spread grass seed out back. Made reservation for the Auto Train for an upcoming trip to FLA.
Good race yesterday. Wifey likes Samantha Busch, so she was happy.
Evening FellasFife - lol. After the tournament ended he asked if he could find a boxing club to join... yeah... noNot much going on right now, other than being very busy with odds and ends... a lot more odds than ends though.
Aloha. Happy Tuesday. Hope the sun comes out after yesterday's rain. Looks like 6 to 10 inches of snow coming this Friday. Dang it. Oh well, I'll take it over the ice but it looks cold for the first weeks of March. Looks like you dodged a few twisters, Kev. No action on the layout though I bought a few cans of foam to experiment with scenery.Brent, I survived a few seasons of wrestling with my middle boy. The best thing I learned was to bring a pad to sit on in the bleachers and a book for the intermiable time between bouts.
Hey Hi there!,
Nice today on The North Bluff above Marseilles, high 40s and sun. Hanging out with the pup. Doug looks like your snow will be rain for us, we shall see. Either way it will be gone within a day or two so I may just sit tight. Tomorrow they are calling fo 57 here. SIL is bringing the new grand-pup Nico out to mingle with Agnes so they can adjust and they will have a place to drop him off when they want.
Boy this month has been warm for us so I guess it will be time to pay for it next month. Never know what you will get around here.
I saw the Menards E-mail add for the blue bonnet ATSF engins and they were sold out as soon as I opened the e-mail. Oh well. Guess you need to be an inside insider.
Best get. Pension payday tomorrow so a trip to Krogers is on the to-do list.
Evening,
Nothing going on here today, just enjoyed a nice and warm sunny day.
Hopefully, this means that spring has decided to come early here in Georgia!
WOW,,,looking to start a new March Pot but I can't find the way in ????? is it just me or has CTT found a way to make their forum even worse?
I got it to work. Wasn't sure it would as it sat there thinking for about a minute before it took
