Hi, folks.
All I did today was go to a Valentine's Day Luncheon with some friends, and watched some videos on YouTube of the Illinois Central railroad during its "Death Star" era before being absorbed into Canadian National.
Mornin' guys and gals. Sunny & 50 already along the Patterson Creek cut-off. We went for a little hike on the C&O Canal yesterday, repaired the Spirit 2 grill jets, and had a nice steak dinner. Wifey received her usual box of milk chocolate caramels.
Today, probably hike again, and do a little yardwork, since it's supposed to get up to 77.
Winter is trying to hold on here on The North Bluff. Rain for us but Doug up north of here is getting the white stuff. Big changes in that 70 miles this time of year.
Tomorrow will be a year ago I snapped my right foot off my leg. Boy what a year it has been. Still not whole but better that it could of been.
No train news been dog training, she just about has me trained.

Mornin' guys and gals. Wet 51 outside. Mild this week, with more seasonal type temps returning, next Saturday. Some of the little trees are greening up already. Ms. Kelly is finally getting over her cold, and she's watching the toddler today. I'm enjoying my nights with NASCAR.
Hey guys!
Saw a lot of familiar names here! Thought I would drop in, I've been doing well, not a lot of news or things going on, which is good! Pretty much in good health, family doing well, so can't ask for much more than that!
Glad to see Kevin's leg is doing better, and to see Fife and others still posting. Still have my layout, go out there occassionally, spent a lot of time working on a family tree.
So take care and I will try and become more active posting.
Regards, Don
Don
Great to hear from you Don.
Mornin' guys and gals. Sunny, but it seems that February remembered it was, well, February. Cold and flurries at time. Had fun with youngest grandson, and he really loved the BIG dump truck I bought him yesterday. Might volunteer at the RR museum this weekend, as 1309 will be running. Currently, it's wearing Chesapeake & Ohio livery, which should garner some more interest. Also "locally", East Broad Top wheeled out #16, which is under steam after a long nap.
Don - 'Tis truly nice to hear from you.
Good Morning - still
Still cleaning and rearraigning stuff here at Mom's. Hope to get to a point where, if we leave, it's just stuff we can donate or sell. Furniture will be leaving and that is the most and bulkiest of things in the house. There is just too much "stuff".
Sat with Jenni as she did her latest portrait last night, off to an earlier bed time. 28F when I got out the door at 0630, 43F later, sun is out.
Not sure of plans for tonight other than cleaning the living room and moving stuff out or just hanging out. We will see. All this being done whie I work as a supervisor at work. I have a great group and just have to keep them moving along, which they do, otherwise.
Daytona tomorrow, I have to run south to the Columbus Flea Market for a bit but should be home in time for green flag.
More cleaning and sorting on Monday, I think.
Good to see you, Don!!!!
Back to work !!!
I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin
Good to hear from you Don.
Sunny today and warm if you cal 40s warm.
Evening, just got home from work...Not much else to say, other than I watched the NASCAR Truck Series "Race" last night (Not much racing went on)
Welcome back Don! It's always good to hear from long-time posters again!
Wayne
Thanks for the warm welcome!
Have been reworking a corner area of my layout, (moving buildings around), taking the day off for the Daytona 500.
Weather is good here, a little bit cool, but not bad. Definitely cooler than usual.
Chris (son) has had some good fortune! Kay's uncle passed in Jan this year, found out he left his 2011 Silverado to Chris! We just have to go get it! So he is trying to get it figured out when he can get the time off. Will certainly wait for Spring for the weather, have to go to Duluth, Wis..
Hope everyone has a great day!
Stay healthy and be safe!

Actually, Superior, Wis, didn't think too many people would be familiar with that, so threw in Duluth. That would be great! Will let you know when we get something planned.
Mornin' guys and gals. Cloudy & 51 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Ms. Kelly will be heading to Baltimore, to help attend to her sister who had a mini-stroke last week. I'll be holding down the fort here.
Daytona 500 - wish I had been there, as watching TV coverage and 25% commercial overload, was nauseating.
Did get up to the chapter caboose, and had three dozen or so folks visit CRR 1072, during the 90 minutes I opened her up. This also helped bump up our patronage at the museum. I like the C&O version of 1309, too.
Aloha and Happy Tuesday-that-feels-like-Monday! Whilst today is sunny, it looks like we may get the edge of this big storm coming in from the west tomorrow morning which is too bad for me because I have to drive into Chicago for work. I had a quiet but enjoyable day off yesterday - I spent some of it tinkering with my beloved Hornby clockwork engine. Fife, I sure don't like the way the 500 ended yesterday - it feels anticlimatic, especially since the last accident was at the back of the field.Don, that is good news about Kris' new-to-him truck. Superior is only 6 and 1/2 hours away.

Afternoon,
Not much to say here. Been relaxing, been in contact with my friend, Adam to possibly work on a little layout project. (Getting very close towards working on that)
WOW Don and now Doug
Doug looks like we may be missed by that storm, that would work for me. It is that time of year the 70 miles between us can make a big change. I have to agree, NASCAR is just a SH*T Show these days. Race throught the wreck and get it done like when it was racing. I only watched the end and that was enough for me. I used to be such a fan, sad.
Don, I had a 2011 Silverado, I loved the truck, hated the rust. It was rusting through in just 6 years, and you will be getting your from the land of salt and sand. Hope there is something to pick up. They rust out at the bed wheel wells bad.
Had the grand kids yesterday for Presidents day
They wore the puppy out, and me. It was great on The North Bluff yesterday, hit 55 and full sun. Quiet today. Newest Grandaughter loves the trains and she will be 10 months old tomorrow, I will be one year post Op and the puppy will be 5 months. Life keeps rolling along.
Bout it for now.
Evenin' guys and gals. Very blustery at Fifedom. Had to go up on the roof to secure some flapping siding, only to have it work loose again. Had to put a couple LW's in my overalls so I wouldn't blow away.
KRM I have to agree, NASCAR is just a SH*T Show these days. Race throught the wreck and get it done like when it was racing. I only watched the end and that was enough for me. I used to be such a fan, sad.
I can understand. Lady Firestorm's brother-in-law was a BIG NASCAR fan and he got us hooked good and hard 25 years ago. A BIG Richard Petty fan we were his southern connection for collectibles of The King since he couldn't find any where he lives in Pennsylvania.
But the fire's gone out for us and for the B-I-L as well. The old crowd's gone and it's just not the same. But we're still on the lookout for #43 Petty collectibles, he still can't get enough of those!
I do like the NASCAR Truck Series these days.
I was a Jeff Gordon fan growing up (As far as Cup Series goes) and liked #24 for quite a long time. Now I just pick a random driver and cheer for them.
Good Evening,
Had a dental appointment today, AND I survived! Had work done on an partial, fits better, but was still a chore.
It is actually raining here a bit tonight, suppose to have some weather come thru the next couple of days. A couple of forecasters are even forecasting snow on the "Hollywood" sign. Its suppose to be cold and snow as low as 1,000 feet! (However LA is only about 285 feet.) So we will see.
I agreee Nascar isn't as good as it used to be, but it is what it is. I too have been a fan for many years, use to watch it on the Wild World of Sports, when they would do a segment on it. I still watch it most week-ends, and record it as well in case I miss it. Cup, Infinity, Trucks, and even ARCA when its available. This coming weekend they are out here racing at Fontana, about 30 miles away. But, I will not be going. Been there 3 or 4 times, but enjoy it more at home. I can't say I have a current "favorite" driver, but like for Martin Truex, or Kevin Harvick to win. Also, I enjoy Clint Boyer's comments in the booth, he's a real red-neck, with a sense of humor.
Kevin, I'm hoping the truck doesn't have too much rust, I know it has been in a garage, and he was 94, and hasn't driven for atleast 6 years. He also had a car, and I dont think he drove very much in the winter. We will see what we end up with. Unfortunately, his sister doesn't have a cell phone, so we cant get any current pictures.
Hope the weather heading thru the midwest and northeast doesn't cause to many problems for you all.
Take care and be safe!
Not much going on right now Train wise, enjoying a nice quiet afternoon.
Sun's out here in Georgia, it's warm and a nice day.
Good Afternoon - Ash Wednesday
Church at 7 - so I'll meet Jenni at the church then head home for a raviloi dinner.
More home sale drama - contractor needs an electrician so now we wait ans see what else needs to be fixed. I dropped off the initial check to him this afternoon.
Rain now, hail yesterday and a tornado local to us. We went out for a fire standby at another house. No injuries or fatalities. Lots o'property damage.
Finishing up moving furniture around, still consolodating train things and cleaning up the house.
I did pick up my CNJ F3 A B A set - it's a K Line with TMCC and my repaired 2-8-0 steamer - they removed the Locosounds board put in a smoke unit and an electronic E unit. I have a few other things to gather together then hopefully ship them off to storage.
DonB - That's pretty cool and a road trip to go with the new truck. Not bad. Sorry for your loss.
Daytona was a wreck fest - too bad they won't allow Dodge in and use the Hemi - all bets would be off, lol
That's all for now.
Good Afternoon,
I can't believe I'm going to post this! We are NOW under a "BLIZZARD" Weather warning for the next two days!! What we are being told....
- Snow level down to 1,000 ft L
- Local Mountains can expect 5 to 6 feet of Snow, including Big Bear.
- LA Basin can expect between 4 and 5 inches of rain !!
- Chance of snow on the "Hollywood" sign, (Elev 280 ft)
- LAX making arrangements for "De-icing" equipment at the airport.
- Interstate 15 between Vegas and LA is closed.
- Interstate 5 (North) is expected to be closed soon.
- Arrangements in process to accommodate 5500 homeless in LA, only 500 beds are currently available.
- And, Nascar is suppose to be racing here this weekend? Can't imagine the race being cancelled in So. Calif, due to Snow!
For sure were staying home! Hmmm....., any preparation suggestions for Blizzards?
Aloha and Happy Wednesday evening. Don, I can believe your forecast! It is sure ice-storming here in a way it hasn't in years and years, and as Kev said, up here we are on just the edge of the storm. The car and I seemed to skate home from work. Everything is covered in frozen water and our longtime front yard birch tree just shed two enormous branches. I moved our car from under the remaining branches. Another one is leaning against the roof. Hope it doesn't fall off. Rich, I am sure sorry about the continuing expenses for the sold house.
I quit watching regularly when the "competition caution" thing started and led to the hard to comprehend point system. Remember when Bristol and Martinsville were THE best races of the season? I don't remember a single car making it all the way to the finish with a full carbody intact!
Come over to open wheel!
Same me, different spelling!
Yes don, fire up the Generator ( outside of coarse) make sure you have enough fuel/charcole for the grill.

Anyway, as I said in an earlier post we don't pay attention anymore. It's not the same without pit crew fights anyway.
(We remember when Kasey Kahne's crew got into it with Tony Stewart's crew. That was classic!)
Mornin' guys and gals. Damp 38 along WV28, but s'posed to get warm by noon. Wifey returning tonight, so need to get this place looking less like a bachelor pad...
Don - milk, bread & tp...east coast thing. As far as the race, make'm run with snow tires and chains.
As for me, forever 43.
