Evenin' fellas

Yes it sure was good to hear from Fife a couple nights ago. I've been told by my boss to skip going into the office next Thursday, wasn't going to be able to any way since Matthew has a Pack Meeting that night and I have to pay his dues and get things setup for the camping trip next weekend. Probably won't be able to make it in during November either, but will definitely have to get there in December as we'll be prepping for a major project that kicks off in January - and will require weeklong trips to all plants (and since one of our bigger plants is near Fife it will give me a chance to visit with him).

Been taking it easy and the kids are making it easy for me to do that too. I'm now down 15lbs since 9/11 and starting to feel like I have more energy. Now to start exercising more regularly. Down to 215lbs and hope to get down to 200 by Christmas. TheQ wants to go to Nemacolin for New Years and it would really be nice to ring in 2023 with some positivity.

Hi gang, thought I would get in before next month.

WOW Brent, that could of been a lot worse. Glad you caught it.

There in no excape from mother nature, Water, wind, and fire,,,she controls. Paradise can end up He!!.

The cold is lapping at the door here on The North Bluff. Kinda of early for the temps we are having, but the sky is blue and the winds are low and the crops are coming out. Got my wood cut, split and stacked. As ready as I can be. Got my flu, newest COVID and second Shingles shots this week, arms are sore. Ick! I think I should be good for awhile? Wife and I are planing a drive to see the colors to celebrate 40 years of each other next month. Yes

Nice to see Doug. Smile

Huh? Oh. Is it safe? Are we back ON? No more error? Ya know the feeling you get when you're called to the Principal's office over the PA, and you try to remember all the reasons you are being summonsed, only to find out that Mom dropped off your lunch that you forgot...?

Anywho, mornin' guys and gals. Sunny & 43 along the Paterson Creek cut-off. Heading to the chapter caboose afterwhile. Still living the bachelor life, as Wifey is still in NC. Took one of the guys to dinner yesterday afternoon. He's 80, and doesn't get out much. Went to local sports pub, then went trackside in South Cumberland, where we caught a couple west-bounders.

Finished Middle Princess's throne room. Took 4 days due to some drywall patching. Only thing left is puttking the door back on the frame.

Chatted with Brent a couple nights ago. He's doing remarkably well, and behavin' hisself. Looking forward to a visit in the not-so-distant future.

That is why I left. You might say I went thru one hurricane to many.

Understandable.  My sister and her family moved to Florida from Colorado because of one forest fire too many.   Yeah, they knew about hurricanes but they'd rather risk one of those than a forest fire.

I was blocked out for a couple of days. Told me to log in, I clicked that and got a black page over current page then saying something like not working.

Yeah, the system was broke!  Crying

I checked with Mom and Dad, they live in a retiree apartment complex in Estero FL.  I wasn't TOO worried since they nearly ten miles in from the Gulf but I worried just the same.  Dad says they're fine, the complex didn't lose power and in fact they were just getting ready to go downstairs for dinner.  The streets are flooded from rain but it's draining away slowly but surely.

My sister lives in Fort Meyers but no-where near the Gulf either.  She's lost power but the home generator's doing it's thing.  They're fine too.  Whew!

If you want to live in Florida you've got to expect these things.

That is why I left. You might say I went thru one hurricane to many. I have had a cousin and a brother of my best friend growing up that is in FL ( Fort Myers ) he went to a friends on the east coast of FL. I told him if he decides enough let me know and will look for Jobs up this way for him.

Oh well, we are expecting to ge winds upto 60 mph tomorrow from Ian and I'm about 150 or so miles from the coast, and 2 - 3 inches of rain also.

We will be fine, Put the T-Bird in the garage and have the truck as far as I can in the carport ( basically the very front hangs out. )

Prayers for those down in FL and along the carolinas coast

Mornin' guys and gals. Sunny and 42 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Feels like autumn, but leaves won't change for a couple of weeks.

Ms Kelly calls me every day, telling me she misses me and is bored. Outer Banks ain't for everyone, I guess.

Keeping in touch with FifePup, who lives down in Citrus County, FL. He was busy prepping the company boats for Ian, but he's now off until Saturday. They are inland enough, and the DIL folks have a storm shelter if things get sideways.

Making good progress on bathroom job at Middle Princess mansion. Not quite a remod, but pretty dang close. I'm not a drywall guy, and neither was the sap who installed the walls in her house. Woof.

Brent, yes you were very lucky, Strokes happen at any age, even children, so age has nothing to do with it.

DJSPANKY got banned from here, so asked if someone would tell you he very sorry to hear of it, and to do what you can to prevent nother.

It was scary... I knew something wasn't right when i was trying to talk to Christina and all that came out was jibberish and I couldn't control my right arm or leg. As soon as TheQ saw and heard what was happening it was get cleaned up (i was cutting my and Matthew's hair), get dressed, get in the car, and get to the hospital faster than ASAP. I was very lucky.

I have been to so many doctor appointments the last 3 weeks and have more to go. I can laugh about it now, but I know it could have been a whole lot worse.

Dang '88 that's a scare nobody needs!  Glad you're doing well and losing some pounds will do you good.  I put myself on a diet starting in March and have lost 30 pounds so far and feel great, I've got much more energy.  The downside is if this keeps going I'm going to be shopping for new pants!  The belts are running out of notches.

You take good care!

Brent - I'm VERY happy to hear that you are ok - you gots lots to live for and a lot going on - take care of yourself!!!

Moving continues, many more boxes fill the living room, need to log them, hit the spread sheet and wait for the next opportunity, my ex is coming in for 2 weeks, I'll need to work around her schedule.

I have a tote full of box cars most out of the boxes, so that will take time.  I did find a 6464-725 New Haven Orange and Black, will need to check the variation.  Not attached, may sell if it's worth it.

Weather has been cooler and breezy.

That's all for now

Evening Fellas

Been a while since I posted last... life has been crazy busy with TheQ being on travel week on week off for the summer, had a few weeks break, now she's in Buckeyeland auditing tO$U, next week its Salt Lake City. Lots of minor projects around the house, and short day trips with the family. Back in August we did a short trip to Philly to see Independence Mall and the sites around there. Then we headed up to Lancaster for back-to-school shopping and some funning around. We missed The Doll Outlet for Christina, so the kids and I headed back up there on Tuesday before school on Wednesday. Matthew didn't like the doll store, so we headed down to Strasburgh Model Train Store where he got a pull-n-go Abrahms and I picked up a Lionel Persian Gulf War boxcar, nice conversation piece when I get the train room built.

Good to see Roy. I haven't seen him around much.

I had a bit of a scare on 9/11. I suffered a stroke and luckily TheQ was able to get me to the hospital. Spent 2 days there. I'm OK, no lingering effects. Diet has been modified, exercise daily, and feeling good. Down 13 lbs so far. BP is almost back to normal range.

Catch ya

Mornin' guys and gals. Overcast and 58 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Wifey is at the Outer Banks with Middle Princess's family, and Youngest Princess came home this weekend, so it's been Daddy-Daughter time. Waiting on her to arise to go get some breakfast at the local greasy spoon.

Had a nice three days volunteering at the NRHS Chapter caboose. Met lots of nice couples, some riding the tourist train, some just visiting Cumberland. Friday, 1309 had a mechanical issue, and "new" diesel 558 stood in. My sister and nephew stopped by the caboose, which was nice. Saturday, the steam engine was back, and there was a pretty good crowd.

I've been tasked with painting the Middle Princess's first floor "thrown room" this week, and taking care of the estate... Hope I get some taffy or caramel popcorn for my efforts... She did stock her fridge with BeerBeerBeer, so I best pace myself.

Saturday was a wild, crazy, and overal delightful day of volunteering at the big annual gala at the trolley museum. We had our fairmount speeder running and after a lot of trouble getting it to work reliably over the course of the year, we were all blown away by how fantastic it performed. Not once did it fail to start when asked, as far as I remember.
Another volunteer and friend of mine brought out his two home-made hand cars, and they were doing rides on those too- one is a one-man, 3-wheeled car, a velocipede, the other one seats around 4 on two benches and has 4 wheels. I've had the pleasure of operating both before but it was fantastic to see the public get to experience them.
There was a museum tag sale going on which I helped out a little with, we had some O gauge stuff for sale but almost none of it was my speed, either not my kind of thing or outta my price range. I ended up not buying any of the O gauge but we sold a 262E and tender in rough shape that hadn't sold last year, along with two other tinplate cars, to a woman who I think is going to take good care of them.

I got to see many familiar faces and the weather was nice- chilly in the morning and late afternoon, but sunny and not too windy. And there was LOTS of visitors.

I ended up buying some things I wasn't expecting to end up with, outside my usual scope. An assortment of OO-scale wagons and an 0-4-2T GWR tank engine to go with, mostly Hornby, and an HO scale craftsman kit for a freight motor. Not toy trains, but the price was right and they looked like fun.

I had to miss out this year on a show in Massena NY I went to last year, a friend was going and I was sad to miss out. He found a few Lionel HO cars for me which was really kind of him. Especially excited about one of them in particular, an 0819-275 C&O work caboose. Now I need to keep an eye out for an 0564 to match!

Take care all
-Ellie

Hi all, Well fall feel in this week 60s in the day and low 50s at night. So this week has been cool weather work, finished cutting and splitting that big oak I have had in waiting for a year and the wood shed is full again. We have also had the grandpup since Monday and she is slated to go home tomorrow. She is a job alone to keep up with. No train news but I do have a guy coming tomorrow from PA to pick up my 1964 Wards Riverside Moped. He is going to show it in his morotcycle musem. I am glad it weth to someone who can share it with others.

The acorns are starting to slow down and I should start the 6 weeks of leaves soon. The corn and beans should start to get harvested real soon looking at the fields. So life goes on here on the North Bluff above Marseilles.

Have a good one.

Good Saturday Morning

PRSL and Blue Comet cars are here with me, Lionel Train Day cars will most likely take the trip next.  I have to stop over and get my wheels and tires so the Super Bee project can roll on the flat bed and get transported to Jenni's on Monday.

62F now and will struggle to get to the projected high of 71F and it is cloudy.  I actually fired up the heater for 10 minutes to get the cold out da house.  I have to be diligent about the heat, fuel oil ain't cheap and I still owe the oil company $500 on the impromptu oil delivery in March (we weren't expecting it).  It was $1400 then.

Flint reminds me that I have to cut and whack the Princess' lawn this week, it's overdue.  Probably Monday and maybe the next bunch will be my Atlas O Golden Spike cars.  Mom's attic is getting full and my/Princess' attic is getting empty.

all I have for now

Nice n' cool here in the Richmond VA area today, so that means leaf raking, grass cutting, and weed whacking today.  No biggie, it's got to get done and SOMEBODY  has to do it, and that doesn't mean Lady Firestorm or Winston the Attack Basset.  That only leaves one person at the Fortress Flintlock. Guess who?  Hmm

Becky if I was on here more and realized you needed a 3462P I would have given you one, sorry I missed that.

Nice score on the HO 2-4-2, it does look a little strange.

Morning all.

Started the morning at 53* now 54* going to 77*

No real plans for today, May work in the garage some more today.

Fall weather has finally gotten here, tomorrow and Monday suppose to just touch the 80's, 80* tomorrow and 81* Monday, other wise high's in the 70's and low's as low as 49*. :)

Well, that's about all for now, hope all have a good weekend.

Nice scores, Becky. My last purchase wasn't such a steal but it was one of those things I just had to have- a Lionel 0642 switcher. Lionel made a million different O gauge 2-4-2s but only made 2 HO versions, and they look utterly ridiculous. Also I have decided that they have the worst designed drive of any Lionel HO I've seen so far. But c'mon... look at those gigantic drivers!

It seems to be the result of combining pieces of the 4-6-2 Pacific, the 0-6-0 switcher, and the 0-4-0 docksider. I also got a few cars with the loco, but nothing too exciting.

Tiny bit of train news.  I finally found a 3462P milk car platform to replace the one I squashed last October.  Of course shipping was almost twice what I paid for the unit, but what can you do.  6 bucks for the platform was too good to pass up.

And, I got a pair of 021 prewar turnouts for 4.21 each plus shipping.  Again, 8 bucks for a pair of manual switches was too good to pass up.  Besides cleaning, the wire insulation is crumbling, but otherwise they're in very good usable condition.

Good Morning

Packing continues, went over to see the Princess last night, brought her a box from the attic for her to pack.  She has other boxes here that will make the trip to her house for packing.

I gathered all my PRSL from Holly Beach Trains and my Blue Comet cars and will bring them over tonight.  I have a week before my Ex comes to help the Princess pack.  So I need to put some hustle in to get a lot more of the trains stuff here.

Tomorrow will be heading north to drop off my spare wheels and tires so we can get our friends Super Bee to Jenni's - I need to work on it and figure out the wiring so it will stay running.  I have all spare parts and tools here rather than trucking them around.

50s now, 60s and windy later.

Mornin' guys and gals. Partly cloudy and 60 in the Potomac Highlands. Shopping day, then NRHS Chapter meeting tonight. Did all the yard work yesterday, and Wifey was cheerleading to help me over the finish line. Local utility guys were at Fifedom to fix internet issues. Really bad service the last few weeks, and I hope they replaced (on the pole) what needed to be fixed. True test will be youngest princess coming home this weekend... No fios in region, yet.
