I think that 2055 was 1953 to 55 only.

Here you go on the 2055.

Was a reasonably warm day today, but I spent most of it indoors.
Made some progress with a couple projects, including getting another Marx HO F3 back in good runnin' order again. It can get stuck easily from loosing contact, the wheels and track are clean so my plan is to add some weight to the chassis and see how that goes- it will increase the pullin' power if nothing else.

Tonight was a celebration of my grandfather's 80th. We went out to eat at a favorite Japanese restraunt, the food was fantastic as usual! I think he had a good time.
We'll see what the rest of the week has in store for me.

Take care all.

Trying to keep you on your toes?

Reminds me of when a friend from NJ came to visit.  I took him to a local supermarket on the day he was going home so he could pick up a sandwich for the trip.  He went in the store by himself and was in there quite a while.  When he came out he said "It's not like Shop-Rite!  Nothin's where it's supposed to be!"

Yeah that is to make you walk around all over looking for what you want and be picking up thiongs you did not want. Has nothing to do with cleaning just profit. Laugh

Well I took the drive and picked up the stuff. No rime or reason to the consist but some nice stuff for $200.00. I am working on what is what and will post pictures as soon as I can. Those 2500 passenger cars are nice for 65 to 70 years old and I will rewire them with SuperFlex wire when I get a chance. The ZW (R) looks good but I had to do adjustments on the handle but it puts out 20.6 volts on all four posts. Yes The other stuff is fine just looks it's age.

Flintlock, I had seen that about the 2055. It works but will need a good lube and the tender works well but also needs lube. I think I will need to clean out the smoke chamber because it does not pump smoke. Must be pluged. All in al looks like a good buy.

Kev, ya done good!

There's probably nothing I can tell you about servicing the 2055, but it's no surprise it needs a good lubing, old oils did tend to gum up after a time. It shouldn't take too much to bring it back to life, those things were built like tanks.

Mornin' guys and gals. Sunny & 63 in the Potomac Highlands. Nurse Princess hosting a little cookout today. Girls made cake-pops last night. Good Nascar race at ROA/Wisconsin. Reddick will be around awhile.

Happy 4th of July. Don't run with sparklers.

Fife - did you lose some weight?

I'm back up to 230 and need to get down to 200. Not sure what I will do to get there because I honestly have been eating much healthier the last few months and not going anywhere. I know I need to exercise... gotta start somewhere. lol

Not looking forward to TheQ heading back to South Africa this Sunday. I know it is for her work and all, but it is just a super long flight and this time she connects through Newark (sp). Well not a whole lot going on these days. Just a hangin in. Got some good news from work today, but can't share till it is official. Wink

Been there, done that, and I'll admit it wasn't easy, it took five months.  I'm at 200 now and want to get into the 190's so I'm still working on it.

Still, 200 is only 25 pounds heavier than I was as a senior in high school 50 years ago so I guess that's not too bad.

Thanks Flintlock, I am happy with it.

Been raining all day so I re-wired all the passenger cars with SuperFlex. Nice working fine. Yes

Still need to tackle that Husdon and tender but that will be another day.

Grandson has a golden birthday tomorrow, 9 years old already, that should be fun. He will have all of his baseball team there so we will be able to fade away early. Wink

I had better clean up my mess and get going.

Good Morning

Cloudy, damp and drizzle here in Central NJ.

Not much going on - had pizza and shot off fireworks last night at my sister's.  My Princess was there as well.  Got all done before the rains swept in.

Nice haul, Kev!! Worth every penny of of the $200 + gas.

Still making plans on the movement of my collection.  October will be here before you know it.

Not much else, work today. I get 1 day off and back at it on Monday.

We leave for Chryslers at Carlisle Thursday night, taking the Hemi Wagon.  With the heat and after Jenni being sick, she will appreciate the cold A/C on that trip.  PA can be very hot in July.  Yep, no A/C in our 50+ year old cars.  It's even too hot to put the top down on the road runner.

That's all from here - back to work.

Mornin' guys and gals. Drizzle and 68 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Will be travelin' today, and bringing grandsons back to Fifedom for the week. Should be raucous at times. These two love to donnybrook, and FifePops allows for it (not in the trainroom however).

Nice out today, we had a fine time at Grandson's golden birthday party yesterday.

I just finished servicing, that 2055 and I must say I am pleased. It has no pick-up roller wear at all and when I pulled it out of the boiller housing it looks like new. A little lub and cleaned out the smoke unit air hole and it runs like a new one. I washed the boiler housing and touches up the few nicks it had with a dry marker. The unit still even has the lable afixed to underside of the cab roof. Can't beat that. I still need to service and re-wire the tender but the shell cleaned up nice for it.

To nice out there to be inside messing with thrains so I best Get.

Update, 8:37PM,

Here she is running as a new one would. 66 to 69 years od. Damn this is fun!

Mornin' guys and gals. Sunny and 65 in the Potomac Highlands. Pops Camp in full swing at Fifedom. Nice quiet ride back from Baltimore. After unpacking, visited nurse princess home, so all three grandsons could play. Newewst grandson was very excited to see his cousins. Came home, and boys immediately wanted to see the trains. Then after spaghetti dinner, Curly top wanted to set up his Toy Story Lionel set on the floor. Day 1 a success.

KRM - Great grab on the 2055 and passenger set. Your layout is looking sharp, and thanks for sharing the video.

KRM,

Nice to see the trains running again, especially the recent haul.  Even better to see that you are down in the basement playing with trains again,

fife,

The first thing our 3.5 year old grandson does when he gets here is to drag out the wooden trains and we start to design a new layout.  The trip down to the train office is a time of wonder - so far just some track down on the floor and he is fascinated for a good long time,

Love the video Kev!  That 2055 looks great and those passenger cars shine like new dimes!  That set's found one of the best homes on the planet!

You said it, 66 to 69 years old and that 2055 runs like a deer! I'm in the same age bracket and I wish I could say the same about myself!  Man, they built 'em good back then, maybe even better than they realized.

Kev  - Looking great!!

Fife - Good luck FifePop's camp :)

New headlights are in the Magnum and looks great next are the tires

Chryslers at Carlisle has asked us to bring out Mopar/Dodge related train sets to be on display during the event.  So the 3 sets and the Kasey Kahne NASCAR add on set are going to Carlisle on Thursday.

Up to 83F today and not so humid.  Tomorrow 89 and humid with storms.

Northwoods - After breakfast, we set up the Little Lionel set I picked up at the Hagerstown show, including the three packs of LL track I secured from Mario's. if I didn't have company coming next week, we'd throw another big loop of tubular track down on the carpet.

Hi gang,

We had a quick rain so I went downstairs and finished the re-wire and lube on the 6026 Tender. It works like a new one! Yes

Wayne, I am in the age group as well, big 7O next month. Surprise

Fife, have fun with those guys, they grow up so fast you will wonder where the time went. My little guy is 9 now and moving on to bigger and better things (baseball) than Grandpa and his trains. At least we have a new girl on the move through life. So I get another run at it. Smile

Guess it will hit 90 today and with that bit of rain, it will be humid.

Brushes came today for Wife's #41 switcher. It is back in action and on the layout. Yes

Bout it.

Mornin' guys and gals. Sunny and pleasant along the Allegheny front range. Day 2 in the books, and still smiling. We took the boys up to Helmstetters to hike and bike on the GAP. They enjoyed going through Brush Tunnel, although FifePops wound up carrying the younger's bike... After BBQ chicken dinner, campfire out back by the creek, and s'mores. Even FifeMax got some roasted marshmallows.

Mornin' guys and gals. Sunny and 79 at Pops Camp. Day 3 in the books. Painting project for oldest boy, and trash duty for youngest. Thought I heard him mumble something about child labor laws under his 4-yr-old breath... Got da boys together over middle princess's house for dinner. Wifey made stuffed shells. Discovered that oldest boy has a calming effect on FifeMax during Lightning.

It's my FRIDAY!!!!

Tires are on, car is washed.

I'll most likely get another car wash today if I can get there before 6.  Vacuumed everything inside.  I'll will do a wipe down of the engine compartment when I get to Carlisle.
The 2 sets from Jenni's are in the car and the other will be loaded up before we head out.  I have to load up Jenni's scooter as well.  During lunch, I'll make a run to ShopRite for water and PowerAde for the trip and Ice at the FD.  Should leave by 6 (that'll never happen) and plan to arrive by 9.

Had dinner at Jenni's and watched NY Electric Trains sale with the Yankee game on.  I did make a purchase - 2 flats and a gondola for $20.  Bed late, Yanks win in 10 7-6.

Mid 80s all weekend with rain Sunday afternoon.  We plan to skeedaddle out before that happens.

Will check back when I can

Mornin' guys and gals. Sunny & 62 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Fishing today (maybe).

Yesterday, oldest grandson finished the birdhouse "remod", and it really looks good. He also spraypainted Wifey's wagon chassis (table piece). Youngest was a bit highspirited and cheeky, but still got an ice cream cone...(Grandmom)... Had a big doe visit at dusk,

Morning all.

Fife your comment about the deer made me think of last night. I was trying to get a sheet of 3/4" plywood from garage to house for layout, well I had it on furniture movers to move it easier, but all of a sudden I notice our deer we have here, ( about 9 of them counting the 2 fawns) were there watching me like it was a comedy show. Cocking their head this way and that way trying to figure out what I was doing.

The build has begun

And yes that is G scale, my plan is an outside loop in G and a layout of O in the center area with an elevated double reverse loop.

Hope all have a good day.
