72 and sunny.

Great Memorial Day ceremony. Got a little long and I was hurting. Made my way to car as soon as it was over. That helped. Wifey wanted to go two counties over to a hosta sale. I volunteered to go. She couldn't believe I volunteered. I remember the owner has FREE hotdogs. Then by Sam's Club for gas [$2.62 every where else in the $2.90's ]. Went to visit close friends who are grandparents to groomer who had the three bandits. Picked up the kids and came home. Then left to ACE for Wifey to get potting soil for the hostas she bought. Now resting after some text from some guy in AZ. So busy day with Wifey driving.

Note: oxy and Tylenol make you where you can't focus on keyboard.

Nap time.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY

Thanks to those who gave their all.

Nice job Kev

Today is Grandaughters 14th birthday. Celebrating with a picnic at their place this evening.

Beautiful day today after a couple of  cool and much needed rainy days here. Bought 3/8" beadboard plywood and electrical stuff to finally finish the new mud/laundry room. Not much happening other than that. Watched grandaughter play soccer,  did some yard work  and feuding with Insurance Co because they dropped one of my meds after I bought the plan. Generic is approved and I'm OK with that but no pharmacies can get it.

Best get on with the day

Prayers for those in need

64 degrees and sunny. Wifey and I took doggies to groomer 3 miles away. She does them in her house. Granddaughter to one of our family like friends.

Slept good. Did woke up several times. Tylenol with all the other made it work. My Pharmacist lady told me OK to mix.  Her Sister [oncologist] came by with her yesterday.  She is "secretly" watching what has been recommended and planned.  Making sure all is done right.  Nice to have a Dr. who is a close friend watching.

Memorial Day ceremony at 11. Then rest for the day.

Thanks guys for the prayers.

Enjoy and be safe.

Mornin' boys and girls. And happy Memorial Day. Cookout at Fifedom at 3, burgers and dogs. If you're in the neighborhood...

Nice train yesterday, but chilly. Even with gloves on, my fingers were cold. Came home, ate, then watched last 100 of Charlotte. Also saw that old guys rule, go Helio.

85 degrees yesterday.  62 guessed high today.  Back to 80 tomorrow.  What a difference a day makes.  TV Church today.  Wifey doesn't want to get out.  I can drive but don't want to due to meds I'm taking.   Cloudy and misty.  Have a great week ahead.

Mornin' boys and girls. Cloudy and a cool 51 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Feels more like football weather, than pic-a-nic weather... Will be on the noon train today, down in Romney, WV.

Yesterday, was volunteering at the NRHS Chapter musuem, when my former ride went by Canal Place (Cumberland, MD). It was nice to see the open-air car (my creation) go by. Hope the riders enjoy it, especially when the steam engine is on the point. I spent many an hour last summer fabricating the metal sides on 803.

For yuz guyz in the NorthEast, N&W 611 J-Class steam engine is back in Strasburg, PA for another visit. If I was close, I'd check it out.

I will catch the end of the 600 tonight, as well as all the highlights from the 500.

71 and cloudy. Going to 80 today and then 62 high tomorrow.  Back to 78 Memorial Day [some folks don't know what the real meaning of Memorial Day is].

I did find out one surprising thing. Chest x-rays are not good for finding lung cancer. Every Dr. says that now. I had one on Feb. 28th. Showed nothing. Dr.s say, if chest x-rays show something, you got it bad. I have one every year just for that reason. I've been led down the wrong road.

Will reclinerize all day today. Wifey out and bringing me a BoJ's biscuit.

Have a great day.

Here it is:

I have small cell lung cancer in my lower back side of right lung. Small. Trying to spread to the bones. Fooled all the Dr.s as didn't have "signature" of cancer. Why I have been in lots of pain. Not in any organs. Spent most of the day in Oncology at Duke Raleigh [they partner with my hospital WakeMed]. Lots done. Had my mask done for next weeks radiation. Got Sharpie marks on my body with stickers over them. Lines me up for zapping. Will do a few over several days instead of all at one time. First one is neck where I have the most pain. Dr. Kim [pretty Asian descent lady] says the zapping will kill the bone ones and bones regrow. She is good. Great personality. Not so bubbly but suppose to be outstanding in her field is Dr. Stevenson. She will administer chemo. That will be three weeks from now. 2 week delay as sent to a special lab to get the gene makeup of the tumor. This is to insure the right chemo. When finished, will continue some type of antibody treatments as cancer will hide and try to fool the body's antibodies. This prevents it from reoccurring.

Dr. Kim was very concerned that no one had addressed my severe pain and not sleeping. I am now on Oxy and have a sleep aid. Trying the Oxy regiment first. If still can't sleep, add the sleep. It is safe to mix with Oxy. Oxy makes me real drowsy but I'm still in some pain. I'm one that does not like that type of meds so "treading" lightly on the Oxy.

The other night got a text from a buddy on the "rifle forum".  "Cancer will not kill you but riding with Fred will."  Humor at the right time.

Cleaned up the spaghetti wiring and then did the install.

Great job cleaning up that rat's nest of wiring K'!  Drives me crazy when I see a mess like that and trust me, I've seen plenty.

It was some kind of job but 10 hours later it is looking and working fine! Cleaned up the spaghetti wiring and then did the install. Just need a test run and put the box back on and done!!  Yes

TGIF!!!!!

Ran  out at lunch and bought a lawn mower, after work, cut the lawn - I got my work out in per my phone and the lawn looks great.  No more jungle.  Repair shop will be picking up the rider and the other push mower for service next week.  I may just do the push mower the rest of the summer.

Relocated the snow blower from the garage to the shed, tossed a few things in the trash and recycle.  Bike starts and runs, just need to get gas.

Jenni got a big tent for Sunday - now going into the 60s for our picnic.  Shop tonight, clean up Mom's house in the AM then to Jenni's to set up.

Looks like 10 will make an appearance.  Hope to be in bed earlier on Sunday 0630 wake up call for me - Firehouse at 0800 then color guard for cemetery, Armed Forces monument and the Civil War Monuments.  Then hopefully - nothing but relaxing the rest of the day.

Chief - Glad you made it back!!

Good Luck on your project, Kev.....

Sunny now and breezy - getting cooler and darker with 2+" of rain expected.

Off to work - check in later.............

HOME ALIVE!!!! Can tell you how many rivets in the back of an 18 wheeler trailer at 75 mph.   Fred tailgated everyone on 4 lane highway and suddenly jumps over to other lane.   Loved to get up and personal on two lanes.

He did all the work.

Rest. 8:30 AM appointment at Duke Raleigh.

Yeah, it is over leave it there! No one cares about anyone's opinions any more than anyone cares about theirs. Laugh

WOW, I ordered this cab heater for the 590i XUV Tuesday late afternoon and it came about an hour ago. Now I have to decide if I want to install it or pay someone else $300 to 350 to do it. Chances are I will do a better job because I have the time to take to do it to my standards. Wink  Besides after being an assembler on Cat tractors for over 23 years it don't look that bad, just the under the unit part will be a push routing the hoses. I have had the top apart already for other stuff. Looks worse than it is. Surprise

Have a safe Holiday weekend.

I feel super strong about the 2020 election but am scared to comment here.

In actual fact you shouldn't, none of us should, politics really don't belong here, so don't be embarassed by keeping silent, you're really doing the right thing.

Morning folks!

Long day yesterday. Right rear wheel on the '01 GMC P/U was dragging - brake rotor was cookin' Chef. Thought it was the parking brake - but it was the caliper sticking. Rotor is toasted from overheating. So off to the parts store to pick up new rotors, remanf calipers, pads, hanger bolts...got the right rear done and will do the left rear this morning. Not a bad job and after I turn in the old calipers the total will be about $300. Would have taken it to the shop but was afraid of further damage it was so locked up. Had to pry the caliper off. In the end it saved me about $700. Would have changed the hoses but they did not have them. Old ones look good - no cracking.

Gittin' too old for this stuff but it had to get done and I certainly had the time Confused

Becky - Laugh

Kev - that is some project - lookin' great!

Dennis - heard about the pellet gun shooter out there. Need to out him away for a long time.

Regards, Roy

Evenin' boys. Sunny and 88 in the Potomac Highlands, with approaching Lightning. Today was my first official day with the scenic railroad. But Fifey, that's nothing new. It is if your visiting the Potomac Eagle. Big Smile Had a train full of elementary school kids, and they were a pretty good bunch. I worked the open gondola, and pointed out the raptors as we rode along the South Branch. Kinda surreal working the same area that I model in the train room (complete with Eagles).

Came home to cold Coors Light and hot roast beef on the grill Dinner, prepared by my pretty wife. Life is good.
