72 and sunny.

Great Memorial Day ceremony. Got a little long and I was hurting. Made my way to car as soon as it was over. That helped. Wifey wanted to go two counties over to a hosta sale. I volunteered to go. She couldn't believe I volunteered. I remember the owner has FREE hotdogs. Then by Sam's Club for gas [$2.62 every where else in the $2.90's ]. Went to visit close friends who are grandparents to groomer who had the three bandits. Picked up the kids and came home. Then left to ACE for Wifey to get potting soil for the hostas she bought. Now resting after some text from some guy in AZ. So busy day with Wifey driving.

Note: oxy and Tylenol make you where you can't focus on keyboard.

Nap time.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY

Thanks to those who gave their all.

Nice job Kev

Today is Grandaughters 14th birthday. Celebrating with a picnic at their place this evening.

Beautiful day today after a couple of  cool and much needed rainy days here. Bought 3/8" beadboard plywood and electrical stuff to finally finish the new mud/laundry room. Not much happening other than that. Watched grandaughter play soccer,  did some yard work  and feuding with Insurance Co because they dropped one of my meds after I bought the plan. Generic is approved and I'm OK with that but no pharmacies can get it.

Best get on with the day

Prayers for those in need

64 degrees and sunny. Wifey and I took doggies to groomer 3 miles away. She does them in her house. Granddaughter to one of our family like friends.

Slept good. Did woke up several times. Tylenol with all the other made it work. My Pharmacist lady told me OK to mix.  Her Sister [oncologist] came by with her yesterday.  She is "secretly" watching what has been recommended and planned.  Making sure all is done right.  Nice to have a Dr. who is a close friend watching.

Memorial Day ceremony at 11. Then rest for the day.

Thanks guys for the prayers.

Enjoy and be safe.

Mornin' boys and girls. And happy Memorial Day. Cookout at Fifedom at 3, burgers and dogs. If you're in the neighborhood...

Nice train yesterday, but chilly. Even with gloves on, my fingers were cold. Came home, ate, then watched last 100 of Charlotte. Also saw that old guys rule, go Helio.

85 degrees yesterday.  62 guessed high today.  Back to 80 tomorrow.  What a difference a day makes.  TV Church today.  Wifey doesn't want to get out.  I can drive but don't want to due to meds I'm taking.   Cloudy and misty.  Have a great week ahead.

Mornin' boys and girls. Cloudy and a cool 51 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Feels more like football weather, than pic-a-nic weather... Will be on the noon train today, down in Romney, WV.

Yesterday, was volunteering at the NRHS Chapter musuem, when my former ride went by Canal Place (Cumberland, MD). It was nice to see the open-air car (my creation) go by. Hope the riders enjoy it, especially when the steam engine is on the point. I spent many an hour last summer fabricating the metal sides on 803.

For yuz guyz in the NorthEast, N&W 611 J-Class steam engine is back in Strasburg, PA for another visit. If I was close, I'd check it out.

I will catch the end of the 600 tonight, as well as all the highlights from the 500.

71 and cloudy. Going to 80 today and then 62 high tomorrow.  Back to 78 Memorial Day [some folks don't know what the real meaning of Memorial Day is].

I did find out one surprising thing. Chest x-rays are not good for finding lung cancer. Every Dr. says that now. I had one on Feb. 28th. Showed nothing. Dr.s say, if chest x-rays show something, you got it bad. I have one every year just for that reason. I've been led down the wrong road.

Will reclinerize all day today. Wifey out and bringing me a BoJ's biscuit.

Have a great day.

Here it is:

I have small cell lung cancer in my lower back side of right lung. Small. Trying to spread to the bones. Fooled all the Dr.s as didn't have "signature" of cancer. Why I have been in lots of pain. Not in any organs. Spent most of the day in Oncology at Duke Raleigh [they partner with my hospital WakeMed]. Lots done. Had my mask done for next weeks radiation. Got Sharpie marks on my body with stickers over them. Lines me up for zapping. Will do a few over several days instead of all at one time. First one is neck where I have the most pain. Dr. Kim [pretty Asian descent lady] says the zapping will kill the bone ones and bones regrow. She is good. Great personality. Not so bubbly but suppose to be outstanding in her field is Dr. Stevenson. She will administer chemo. That will be three weeks from now. 2 week delay as sent to a special lab to get the gene makeup of the tumor. This is to insure the right chemo. When finished, will continue some type of antibody treatments as cancer will hide and try to fool the body's antibodies. This prevents it from reoccurring.

Dr. Kim was very concerned that no one had addressed my severe pain and not sleeping. I am now on Oxy and have a sleep aid. Trying the Oxy regiment first. If still can't sleep, add the sleep. It is safe to mix with Oxy. Oxy makes me real drowsy but I'm still in some pain. I'm one that does not like that type of meds so "treading" lightly on the Oxy.

The other night got a text from a buddy on the "rifle forum".  "Cancer will not kill you but riding with Fred will."  Humor at the right time.

Cleaned up the spaghetti wiring and then did the install.

Great job cleaning up that rat's nest of wiring K'!  Drives me crazy when I see a mess like that and trust me, I've seen plenty.

It was some kind of job but 10 hours later it is looking and working fine! Cleaned up the spaghetti wiring and then did the install. Just need a test run and put the box back on and done!!  Yes

TGIF!!!!!

Ran  out at lunch and bought a lawn mower, after work, cut the lawn - I got my work out in per my phone and the lawn looks great.  No more jungle.  Repair shop will be picking up the rider and the other push mower for service next week.  I may just do the push mower the rest of the summer.

Relocated the snow blower from the garage to the shed, tossed a few things in the trash and recycle.  Bike starts and runs, just need to get gas.

Jenni got a big tent for Sunday - now going into the 60s for our picnic.  Shop tonight, clean up Mom's house in the AM then to Jenni's to set up.

Looks like 10 will make an appearance.  Hope to be in bed earlier on Sunday 0630 wake up call for me - Firehouse at 0800 then color guard for cemetery, Armed Forces monument and the Civil War Monuments.  Then hopefully - nothing but relaxing the rest of the day.

Chief - Glad you made it back!!

Good Luck on your project, Kev.....

Sunny now and breezy - getting cooler and darker with 2+" of rain expected.

Off to work - check in later.............

HOME ALIVE!!!! Can tell you how many rivets in the back of an 18 wheeler trailer at 75 mph.   Fred tailgated everyone on 4 lane highway and suddenly jumps over to other lane.   Loved to get up and personal on two lanes.

He did all the work.

Yeah, it is over leave it there! No one cares about anyone's opinions any more than anyone cares about theirs. Laugh

WOW, I ordered this cab heater for the 590i XUV Tuesday late afternoon and it came about an hour ago. Now I have to decide if I want to install it or pay someone else $300 to 350 to do it. Chances are I will do a better job because I have the time to take to do it to my standards. Wink  Besides after being an assembler on Cat tractors for over 23 years it don't look that bad, just the under the unit part will be a push routing the hoses. I have had the top apart already for other stuff. Looks worse than it is. Surprise

Have a safe Holiday weekend.

Morning folks!

Long day yesterday. Right rear wheel on the '01 GMC P/U was dragging - brake rotor was cookin' Chef. Thought it was the parking brake - but it was the caliper sticking. Rotor is toasted from overheating. So off to the parts store to pick up new rotors, remanf calipers, pads, hanger bolts...got the right rear done and will do the left rear this morning. Not a bad job and after I turn in the old calipers the total will be about $300. Would have taken it to the shop but was afraid of further damage it was so locked up. Had to pry the caliper off. In the end it saved me about $700. Would have changed the hoses but they did not have them. Old ones look good - no cracking.

Gittin' too old for this stuff but it had to get done and I certainly had the time Confused

Becky - Laugh

Kev - that is some project - lookin' great!

Dennis - heard about the pellet gun shooter out there. Need to out him away for a long time.

Evenin' boys. Sunny and 88 in the Potomac Highlands, with approaching Lightning. Today was my first official day with the scenic railroad. But Fifey, that's nothing new. It is if your visiting the Potomac Eagle. Big Smile Had a train full of elementary school kids, and they were a pretty good bunch. I worked the open gondola, and pointed out the raptors as we rode along the South Branch. Kinda surreal working the same area that I model in the train room (complete with Eagles).

Came home to cold Coors Light and hot roast beef on the grill Dinner, prepared by my pretty wife. Life is good.

Man those people got to get over the election!!!!!!

lot of people refused to get over the one before too.

Not saying I'm for it or against it, but I'm just saying, you know?

If there's an election one side has to win and one side has to lose.  If you win, great.  If you lose, you learn from it and try to do better next time.   Tantrums prove nothing and help no-one.

That is what I mean Flintlock. Didn't want to go into detail you know. We had a guy who had a HUGE sign in his front yard for 3 years that said  "Trump won,,get over it". Now it is the other sides turn. I have never seen such vulgar signs as I saw up there. I never saw any signs the last time like I saw up there. What are we comming to? Tongue Tied

Nuff said.

Well I am home from the great white north.. Man those people got to get over the election!!!!!!

Chief, hope they figure it all out soon for you. The wait has to suck.

Here are some pictures of the working vacation to Mark's Cabin build up north. Lower level is closed up now. We got the doors on, front closed up, opener and locks sets in. Next is to start the log walls on the top. He is building this with true logs off of his property. He has his own saw mill to prepare the logs. A huge project for old guys like us. Most all the wall logs are cut and ready to set, two years dry. Setting them will be a chore most are 30 foot long. He has a plan and it worked on setting the three logs on the sides and should work for most the rest.

Found a guy who will install the heater kit into my John Deere XUV for only $300.00. So the next trip up I will have it installed for next winter!!  Yes

77 and cloudy right now. Suppose to heat up with a slight chance of showers.

Need to lightly weed middles in garden. Dr. says I can't today. Got to hang around and can drive short trips. Showered and all dressed. Had to take Band-Aid of back and Wifey had to put new one on before she went to the shop. Dr's orders. No blood on the one removed.

RIDING to the farms with Fred tomorrow. [that may prove dangerous as he can't drive worth a d--n   why I always drive] Sit and watch him work for a change. Don't want him there by himself. He refuses to call SonIL or other hunting partner.

No trips to WakeMed for a few [I hope].

Sunny and 90 today. Hooomid! Drops to 60's at night so pleasant Cool

Chief - prayers they figure out what is going on Angel

Helped a neighbor put a backup camera on their new Winnebago travel trailer. Supposedly prewired for power for a wireless camera to the receiver. Connector and recepticle under a cover at the top of the rear. However - cannot get 12 volts at the connector. No breaker/switch on the power panel. Not energized with backup lights or running lights. Buddy is gonna have to call the dealer.

Morning all!

Sunny and high 80's on tap. Got the Waverunners launched yesterday and we went for a nice ride. Spent some time troubleshooting the Waverunner trailer lights. No issue with the right turn signal and worked fine connected to the pickup. Did find the left light was filled with water (boat trailer lights are sealed for immersion) - and the light sockets are rusted out. Ordered new LED trailer lights from Bezos - $29 - will be here Tues.

Suffering terribly from high pollen counts. Taking Claritin D and Zyrtec. Helps while active/moving, but lie down and doomsday. Add the lack of sleep from the pollen and the affects from the surgery/radiation - I get little sleep = zombie state....Dead

Mornin' boys. Outside the sun is shining, the temps are rising, and Brood X is...brooding?Stick out tongue

Spent some time at the Allegany Railroad Museum with my chapter buddies, yesterday. A lot of speculating about what's going on with the Scenic RR. A lot of the visitors were hoping to catch a train ride this weekend, so we sent them a few miles south.

Spent the remainder of the evening catching up with family, and acquaintances, on the phone, while watching the Xfinity race from Austin.

Today, traveling with my retired engineer buddy, a few miles south.

Wifey and SisterIL off to Daughter's new pool for a swim.

Hello there,

got a text from my friend earlier. Surgery went well. Now a couple of days in the hospital to make sure everything functions as it should. Thanks for all the Prayers.

Spent the last couple of days farming. Tried to bale hay today but It wasn't quite dry. Tomorrow's another day, what was cut for Saturday will probably wait till Monday .

Best get to sleep.

Prayers for those in need and the end of this pandemic .

TGIF and Good afternoon -

Nice visit Fife - can you put your feet up this weekend?

Been very busy, save for last night, I stayed home after fire drill (which was a joke, again, but I digress) and hit the sack early after a BK for dinner run.

This weekend will include getting my road runner out of hibernation, working on a friends '69 Super Bee 440 4 Speed car and the usual house work which needs to get done.  I might some train time, but that MIGHT be Sunday - I have to prep the yard at Jenni's for the car club picnic next Sunday.

I also need to attempt to go shopping for supplies for this Sunday and Next Sunday for the Princess's engagement party on the 5th.  Woo boy we is gonna be busy.....

ok off to finish up work - then I can start the housework....for now

Stopped by the train show site this morning and lo and behold the long-lost HO and N guage test track unit surfaced from somewhere.  The thing's put together in such a half-a$$ed manner I told 'em I take it home and re-do it so it looks professional.  Painted the base board and after it dries the track will go back on and I'll redo the wiring and switching.

Once this is over I'll redo the thing completely, since this is a rush job I can only make it look better, but not as good as I'd like.

Nice to feel needed though!

70 degrees and sunny. Quick snack [no carbs and no sugar]. Water and more water. Slept good again.  Off after awhile to the other end of the county. Lots of tests. One or two everyday.  All to prove first Dr. didn't know what he was talking about. Excellent service out of WakeMed.

Good Morning Folks

Going to be in the upper 80s today so I gave my permission to the renters ( my daughter) to turn on the fan.  LOL!  Seriously the AC went on last evening.  Seems a bit early.

Never did the pool open, maybe tonight or tomorrow.  No one was a round to helps so there's that.

Everyone have a great weekend.  Stay safe!

Morning folks!

A beautiful start to the day! 80's for a high. Cool

Spent the afternoon yesterday tracking down why my '01 GMC Sierra 1500 would not operate the right turn signal on a trailer. After some time found a bad wire crimp back where UHaul did the install (2008) and a blown fuse for the trailer right turn signal in the electrical control center box under the hood. Was not prepared for that. My older vehicles just tapped into the rear lights with taps into the wiring harness. Having separate fuses and wiring for trailer lights was a new one for me. Smart. A short on the trailer does not take out the tow vehicle lights.

I think the problem stems from my Waverunner trailer. Lawn guy hit the right tailight on it 3 years ago and I never thought much of it. I need to check it for shorts. Could also be I sometimes forget to unplug the trailer lights before launching Whistling

Kev - nice score on the washer/dryer.

Fife - nice visit from the kiddos! Some rest now?

Banks - prayers for your friend Angel

I wonder if he works at an auto glass place and business is slow?

Full sun and mid 70s today and going up from there. Need to do some Trimec on the front lawn, more weeds than grass? Hard to do with all of wifey's flower beds. Trimec thinks they are all weeds! Surprise  Saturday will be a good day to do it, no wind and high 80s. Yes

Fife, like Banks said, depends on what you're powering, but I used a lot of 22 gauge without issue on building, switches and lights. 28 is awful small, not sure I would go there??

***Question. Is it okay to use 28 gauge wire for power feeds?

I'd recommend #18 at least. Depends on what you're powering.

Mornin' boys. Sunny and 62 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Sent one grandson home, and woke up with the youngest grandson ringing the doorbell. Wifey's sisters coming to Fifedom today, so the household was on Defcon 5 last night. Woof.

All in all, was a nice visit with the Curly Top. He enjoys the trains, being outdoors, the BIG tub, the bears, and apparently taking out the trash bags to the garbage truck.

Morning All

Pool deck is sealed so this evening I'll pull the cover and start the 3.5 month pool party.  Looks like another year with shortages on some pool supplies.  Was told not to need a new liner this year as they are hard to come by.  Chlorine pool pucks as well.  Hopefully I'll be crystal clear again for the unvieling.

Nothing else going on here.

Everyone stay out of trouble and have a great day!

Mornin' boys. Sunny and 50 along the Allegany front range. Supposed to be dry and 80's all week. Our final day with the Curly Top, and boy did he wake up, shall we say...unagreeable. Five night stay is a new record for him, and we'll hand him off after noon. Yesterday, we hit the hike/bike trail, to nearby Brush tunnel. It was my first foray to WM tracks since I resigned from the Scenic RR...

Hey, how you doing? Been raining for over two days and we have only got .3” of rain, just a PITA rain.
Over the weekend Dan and Jordan came over and we installed the new to us washer and dryer that he and Katie gave us that was in their new house. It is a 11 year up-grade for us. Very nice to! Not bad for free.
Going to get into the 80s soon, way too early for that Crap!

Other than that nothing to report.

Afternoon all!

Cloudy but warm. 90's this weekend - a bit early for that!

Slow couple of days. Low energy. Got the oil/filter and fuel primary filter in the boat changed. There is a secondary filter I just learned about and of course I need a special thread sealer for the change. The sealer is in an auto parts store across town, so have to plan a trip. The secondary filter has never been changed - 2008 boat - but only 400hrs on it - and it runs fine so not worrying about it. PITA to change it. Checked Amazon and it is unclear if anyone has it - and delivery out more than a week.

Daughter and SIL finish the move to their new house tomorrow - they are tired but excited!

Mornin' boys. A little foggy and 50 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. CT is pounding on some kinda Frogger game Grandmom bought, and it sound like a team of carpenters descended in the house. Thanks, Dear....

Bear cubs were here last night and scattered the trashcans for me. Thought they had moved on two weeks ago.

Did get the Williams 10-wheeler repaired, after sodering the frail wire back on its post. Also performed a quick traction tire replacement on Doralee. Really need to do some better wiring on the mainline, and add another power feed or two. I get things up and running, and sometimes my "good enough" ain't a-gettin' it.

Morning all

Looks like a progressively warmer week in store.  Got a lot done this weekend including the pool deck cleaned, bed washed, grass cut, the pool pump / filter / heater hooked up, and a whole other bunch of spring projects.  Hoping to get out of work a little earlier today and get the deck sealed so I can open the pool by Wednesday or Thursday.

Even had time to work on the trains a bit and then run the NKP 765 on an excursion trip...

Stay safe everyone!

Mornin' girls and boys. Wet, overcast and 55 in the Potomac Highlands. Stuck inside kinda day. We all got a decent night's sleep, so nobody should be on edge. Except fifeMax, whom got a little on edge towards CT, which got his fuzzy butt on his lead. Grand mom has some inside projects for them to do today (If she can stay within the 10 minute window of attention...). Place yer bets...

Speaking of, Derby winner got dusted on the last stretch. The silver hair dude was noticeably absent. Hmmmm...

Would've been nice to be at Dover today. Overcast days are easier in those aluminum stands. Haven't been to a race in a while.

In and out of the train room, and my Williams 4-6-0 had a wire break off on one of the tender pick-up rollers. Tiny wire will be a headache to re-attach...

Youngest Princess wanted me to go with her and her boyfriend to help him pick out some nice threads for an upcoming family function. Kohl's is the only thing nearby, and we were able to suit him up (sports coat, slacks, shirt, shiny shoes, suspenders and even a bow tie), all for a little over two bills. Now she has her "arm candy" for her cousin's wedding.

Chief, I hate to say it but the NRA has been going down the wrong path since Mr. LaPierre came along and started driving the bus down the dark crazy far right road and leaving the hunters and sportsman behind to push fear and lies to soak money out of the membership. JMHO. We will see how it goes. He is just another crook.

Cool with plenty of drizzle today. Will be good for the grass seed we have planted by the creek. That area is coming along even with the lack of rain the last two months. Rain seems to be in every day for the next ten or so. That should help things along.
We took a ride to a small town called Sublett yesterday to visit a friend of ours from Plainfield who just moved back from ten years in SC, just to find out he had gone fishing with another friend of ours from Plainfield in Wisconsin. That was okay it was a great day for a drive. I knew his address but not his phone number but we had a nice chat with his wife. She said that the people in SC just plain hate Yankees and they were sick of snakes and scorpions and all the rest of the stuff where nothing dies in winter. Sandra and I then went and had lunch in a small bar and grill in town. The only bar and grill in town. Ha ha ha.
The Tom turkeys are busy chasing the hens and the creek is looking better every day.

Not much on agenda.

Garden planted yesterday looks good as was watered good after planting.

Wifey gone to get fresh matters at Farmers' market in Raleigh.

Night 1 is in the books, and it went smoothly. However, our "radar" was on, so every little sound...Zzz CT up at 0630, ready to go. We've already spent a half-hour running trains on the carpet. He's gonna help Fifepops dig in the garden, water the posies, and feed the birdies, after breakfast.

Marty - That video was just a tease. Please, sir, may I have some more...?Dinner

Last night's meeting was interesting - the president had a medical emergency at the FD and I had to sub as President - 2 hour meeting.  WOO HOO!!!
I took no crap and kept everybody quiet.  Not bad for a last minute substitution.  I gotta tell ya, running th county meeting is a breeze compared to last night....lol

Penny - Glad you are doing the best possible - Not sure I could do it....
Fife - Good luck on the visit - still should be a blast!

DJ - I'll trade you a 1970 Hemi Cuda Convertible for your gas ---

So tomorrow is work on my friends '69 440 Super Bee (was postponed from last year), Sunday is move beds around day.  3 houses 4 beds - ***joy*** - at least my future SIL will help me....

75 today and a little breeze - so far it's nice.

No motorcycle rides - STILL no glasses - 1 week+ - I can't believe I have to wait this long, it's like I'm back in the 70s....

I SLEPT good last night. Fred reminded me of something. Benadryl. At first, lots of energy and then bang. Took two.

Jumped from 42 to 70 degrees. Sunny.

Out to set out garden. Hope the chest holds out. This constant burping is a mess.

Wifey is going to help.

Bear destroyed feeder again.  We have a plan.  Big pine tree next to it.  Going to mount it to the tree 8' off the ground.  Bolt top on as bears can climb trees.  If she pushes over pine tree, we have a problem.

Morning all.

Currently 57 in Western PA.  Going to the mid 60s so they say with sunny weather all weekend.  I guess it's time to clean the pool deck and then seal it.  Way over due.

Green tea in the mug and a full day at the office.

A little something from the layout last evening.  That guy sleeping by the tracks better be careful...at least I hope he's sleeping.

Mornin' boys and girls. Sunny and 41 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. It is the calm, before the storm. We will be picking up the Curly-Top (CT) this afternoon, for a five night stay. This will be his longest sojourn without his Mommy (OP), so hang onto your hats. He asked if he could "touch Pop's trains" on the phone last night. Grandmom is stoked. Alexis is in hibernation. Even fifeMax seems to be getting extra R&R in preparation.

Penny - Sounds like you've made the best of the situation. And the canoe too? Oh well, you weren't headed to Christmas Island anyway.

Becky I guess your selling your trains?

Well...not ALL of them.  Wink  I'm keeping my favorite stuff in O gauge and 95% of my Standard gauge which boils down to about a half a dozen O gauge locos and the only working Std. Ga. loco I had.  Plus freight cars, passenger cars, vintage and reproduction accessories, Plasticville buildings and more.

Since downsizing was forced upon me, and because I had already decided a few years ago to start specializing a bit more, it wasn't too hard to give a lot of it up.  When I built Disneyland that put my G-scale out of work at Christmas time.  My HO, N and On30 were collecting dust in boxes and there were WAAAAYYYY too many "half of this" and "half of that" items in junk boxes around here.

The only tough decision really was to leave S-gauge behind.  That decision got a bit easier when I couldn't get the track off the board without completely destroying it.  My locos were so finicky that I had to have my track as close to perfect as possible to keep the locos on the rails.  And I decided that mounted trackwork probably wasn't going to be an option in an apartment even if I had some sort of rudimentary train board.  So, the S-gauge had to go.

I got a thousand bucks today and he's coming back next tuesday to buy my canoe for another 500.

PLUS!

He's going to try to sell my "THEME PARK" models at a train show in September for 50% of the proceeds!  If they don't sell, he will dispose of them which is what I was expecting to have to do anyways.  So, it's a chance for (don't say the name, nobody ever heard of any park in California by that name Wink) to survive on someone else's layout.

Chief, I use a fractionated oil mix on my cervical arthritis and it has been SUPER in minimizing to eliminating the pain. After I had my "adventure" with some pain killers I swore off them completely regardless of the pain. Being the world's #1 skeptic I tried it to make the better half happy and she almost fainted when I praised the results.

Well my search for a unicorn, a MTH Pullman coach, is being duplicated in a search for a Railking E/F/P series passnger diesel in L&N livery. Apparently they only exist, along with the Pullman coach, in a parallel universe not accessable by mere mortals. Sigh

Good morning folks! A nice sunny day! 70's - aren't cool fronts great?

A couple of 6 hrs sleep per night has me on reduced capacity today.

Not much planned as a result.

Becky - oh a sorta sad day - I need to get back to my list for a similar action with a local train buyer. Intend to have that done by summer?

41 degrees.  Fair. Overdosing on Tylenol Authritus.

Off to the farms.

Strange. Dr.'s are scared to give you pain meds and sleep meds. Woke up at 3. Had Tylenol Authritus out waiting. Up at 5 as couldn't go back to sleep.

Later.

Hey all!

Missed a couple of days - busy and bushed at the same time.

Not much to add....

Chief and others - if you "PASTE" text into this forum for some reason it cannot resolve fonts/etc. I am successful by right-clicking and selecting "PASTE AS PLAIN TEXT". The forum still has trouble with line spacing as this forum auto-spaces new paragraghs at 1.5 lines. Or you can type all your posts in something like MS NOTES, copy and paste - but you will still have the 1.5 line paragragh spacing issue hosing up line and paragragh spacing.

Doc visit was Okay. Gained 12 lb this year, now 212. Most ever for me. I blame the COVID-19 thing and not being able to do anything but eat. All the same BS from him about all the same things for me. But he said see ya next year so that works for me. Did get one new med to replace one I quit taking, go figure! We will see how this one works out. Called pravastatin?

Plenty of gas here and sitting at $3.19 How long, who knows. At least we got plenty of TP. Laugh

Same here Chief, never below 1/2 tank is the rule.

Good news on John, boy that is a long surgery. Surprise

Mornin' boys. Sunny and 62 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Already been to PT for foot, and had breakfast with nurse princess. She had to leave her Hyundai at the garage for work.

First and foremost, thanks for the Angel. John's four hour surgery went well.

I finished planting the flox (17 of them) on the hill next to the drive. That was after digging out the juniper that was there. Job will take a few more Spring plantings to finish. Wifey needs to be patient.

Gas. Seems the narrative goes to the favorite boogiemen, the Rooskies. Believe that, if you must...LaughLaughLaugh

50 and rainy. Slept till 8:30 [off and on]. Nothing till 1:30. Dermatologist and then Cardiologist. Lunch with ladies about Saria Leone is now a zoom this evening. Mom dislocated her shoulder in a fall and so we are doing zoom.

Gas shortage due to topping off and filling gas containers [no joke]. You don't normally see this volume of gas customers. I have a full tank of gas in pickup so going east tomorrow. Caddy has plenty and Wifey's car too. I grew up done east where everything was miles away. Parents taught me to keep at least a half of a tank of gas at all times. Wifey, I have to watch. She is a city girl and never understands. Hers filled last Sat. Caddy gets filled each time I am in Wake Forest as easy to go by Sam's Club. Didn't since lines have formed. Wifey was suppose to go to Gail's in Athens GA. this weekend. Canceled [to Wifey's pleasure].

Prayers for John and great recovery.

Have a good one.

Still feeling a bit tired from my second jab, at least that's my excuse.

Hope everyone is staying safe.

Mornin' boys. Sunny and 51 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. KRM, please keep your frost.

When gas jumps in price, collected state and fed taxes jump as well. Hmmmm...

Had nice chat with Fifepup last night.  He's doin swell, and he and his gal went to Siesta Beach this weekend. Unfortunately, the gulf coast in FL is experiencing red tide conditions once again. Know before you go.

Need Angel for my neighbor, John, whom is undergoing cancer surgery today. Talked with him last night, and he was pretty upbeat.

Nurse Princess hasn't been back to work 2 weeks, and one of the surgical practice team has scooped her up to be their lead nurse. Bump in pay, and no more being on-call.

58 and partly cloudy. It can't figure out what it wants to do. Rain tonight and tomorrow?????

Lunch out and PT later.

Some folks are in panic mode over gas line shut down. Some are being cool headed. Price of gas at Sam's Club was same as last week. Some jumped 20 cents in an hour. Funny. NBC guy reporting from a terminal in VA. Tankers were rolling out behind him and others were filling. If no gas, no tankers moving.

Enjoy the day.

Good Morning - 60s and cloudy - very breezy.  Rain later today and tomorrow morning.

Thanks, Penny and Flint!!!  As long as I can run into the building, that's what I'll do.....lol

Kev - Landscaping looks very nice!!

Friday night's service went without a hitch - the weather was comfortable at least - afterwards went to Jenni's for dinner and she drew for a bit.

Saturday up early for breakfast in celebration of  my Princess's birthday.  Jenni was off work, so it was me, my Mom, my Princess and her fiancee, my sister and Jenni.

Afterwards, suited up for the ceremony and procession - Funeral Service - link provided for those that are interested - I was next to the American flag with NJ State flag in the color guard.

Rained shortly after we were done.

Met with my brother and SIL and my sister afterwards at Mom's - they left to eat - I vacuumed the house, took a quick nap during the Yankee game and set off for Jenni's.  We had dinner and were listening to Oldies on the Philco.  Early bed.

Sunday Breakfast with Sinatra, I made Jenni squash and scrambled eggs with sausage and tea.  Had some errands to run, then off to feed Smurf the Wonder Cat, then Mom's.  Sat with her for a few hours then back to Jenni's.  We went shopping and made chicken for dinner with garlic Mashed Potatoes.  I did some light housework while she finished drawing - Almost done with subject #3 of 5.  She'll finish up #3 tonight.  I will probably not make softball as my glasses are too scuffed up to see anything.  Especially a softball heading to my face -- lol.

I have to finish up my video and stills for the OGF on the traveling hopper car then send it off.  Between activities this week - it's been difficult.

Happy Belated Mother's Day to all the Moms.......

Off to work I go

Perhaps you can answer this question:

Just checking in, we are up to our necks in the kitchen remodel. Yesterday was spent painting. Friday the new cabinets were delivered. The Mrs. has been putting tags of blue painter tape on every defect she has found (photos too!) When the cabinet man arrives tomorrow to continue the install he's going to walk into a firestorm! It will be over 3 weeks before the counter tops arrive, and then we can finally get the new sink put in. In the meantime it is a lot of microwave foods and paper plates. The refrigerator (which started the whole fiasco) may not arrive until July? May your best half have a great Mother's Day!

Happy Mothers Day to all the forum related moms out there

Cloudy and Hooomid - it ended up hitting 90 yesterday - but temps drop tomorrow to about 10-15 degrees below norms again for the week. Possible storms tonight and tomorrow night - and more rain mid-week.

Almost complete with the sanding/priming/painting of the El Cam windshield channels in the pillars and roof top. Will be done today and will let this cure for a few weeks. Next will be to tackle the area between the dash and firewall when I get the dashboard out. Finally got the stripped 7mm x 1" dash screw out!

Fife - well we had a change of plans - the neighbors had last minute babysitting duty for their 9 mo old grandbaby so we ordered takeout Chinese and dined at their place. A nice evening.

Hey all!

Cloudy today and rain in forecast - unclear how much - depends on how the cool front moves. 80's...Cool

Went out to dinner last night with neighbors - nice patio and a wonderful breeze! Service was slow due to lack of servers but we did not care - just tooooo nice out! I had a nicely prepared flat iron steak.

Yesterday was spent doing things the Mrs wanted to do. Went to the mall for some shopping. I tired to find some new Hawaiian shirts - nothing but low quality store brand stuff. Normally they have a nice section of Tommy Bahama and Caribbean. Guess they are stuck in the Suez...Whistling

Today I cleaned the bathrooms and vacuumed the house. Kids are cooking dinner for Mom tomorrow night - more steak!

Watched our nephew's college graduation on line. Nice succinct ceremony - good speaker who addressed the kids vs blabbing about his own accomplishments or politics. It was an in-person ceremony - but limited attendance/distancing. Well done. The whole family was commenting on FB - including some in the UK. Small university in OK - so they got through the graduates pretty quick.

Tonight we have our eye on a S American/Cuban food restaurant with a nice big patio. Gotta enjoy the outdoors here as mich as possible before the temps hit the 90's!

Dennis - glad you are OK after the choking event!

Regards, Roy

A pair of lobby cards, from the 1973 classic Emperor of the North. Pristine portraits of Borgnine and Marvin, in glorious black and white.

You know, Ernie Borgnine's character "Shack" in that movie was so terrifying I watched the movie once and never wanted to watch it again.

Shows you what a good actor he was, all who knew him said he was the nicest and most generous man you'd ever want to meet.

Mornin' boys and girls. Overcast and 41 in the Potomac Highlands. My lovely wife wants to dine at Cracker Barrel, and shop at Lowe's today. I've already given her a matching pair of rocking chairs for Mother's Day. Not sure what she wants at Lowe's.

We all spent yesterday at baby's house. Both parents working at the hospital, so Wifey cleaned the inside, as FifePops mowed the lawn. I could have used one of Banksie's old tractors. Nurse Princess brought us dinner. In the mailbox, was the belated birthday present she bought me. A pair of lobby cards, from the 1973 classic Emperor of the North. Pristine portraits of Borgnine and Marvin, in glorious black and white. Can't wait to get them on the wall in the train room.

Afternoon all!

Sunny and low 80's again today Cool

Just back from subsidizing everyone else's haircuts.

Got the driver side windshield channel 2nd coat of primer and then a few coats of Duracolor rattlecan paint from O'Reilly. The repairs look great and a surprisingly good match of a modern Ford light metallic silver-gray to the 30+ year-old GM metallic silver-gray-green. I may just paint the entire roof with the rattlecan. Lays down nice. Also primed and painted about 2/3rds of the roofline windshield channel. Sanding off the 30+ yr old eroded/crazed paint is a real chore - even with 60 grit sandpaper...

All set here for Mothers Day! Are you? Whistling

Kev - looks nice!

Chief - too bad about the Caddy Sigh

Worked yesterday.  Had more in person appeals than ever before.  Usually don't show up.  First day of hearings.

54 and breezy. Cloudy and some off and on rain. Truck at Team Xtreme getting new starter. Dragging when hot. [I put the last one on 12yrs ago but not me this time] Wifey wants me to trade in Caddy and get new pickup. Sell the 97. We'll see. She doesn't drive Caddy. It let her down at 25 miles [new]. Haven't liked it since.

V8 - Perhaps it's time to have your layout "contort" to you current wants and needs, instead of vice-versa. Although my former layout was very nice, I don't miss the crawling under, bumping my head, bruising my knees aspect of model railroading.

Our camping area we started on by the creek last November is starting to look like something we had hoped for, even without the normal rains. I think it will be just fine by this time next year.  We are very happy!  Yes

A Train question, the INS guy sent me this on coverage for the trains and layout. "We checked on some options for the trains…..Todd spoke to underwriting for us, and it looks like 15k coverage with no deductible on our Personal Article Policy is the way to go, and would run like 113.00 annually."

What do you guys think???? Would you do it or roll the dice?

Good morning team!

Another sunny day - 60's this am so warming - low 80's this afternoon!

Got the passenger side windshield channel done/primed. Sanded the drivers side and some light application of Bondo in one spot (where it was originally Bondo-ed at the factory). You can also see where they leaded or brazed the top of the windshield pillars during the original build - they used Bondo to smooth it. Now for the top. Goal is to be state inspection ready for August. Started to pull screws for the dash removal/replacement. One screw (7 mm) is stuck - spins - grabbed it with pliers to pull and try and catch a thread - no dice. Put side pressure on it to try and catch a thread - no dice. Will try a few other tricks - this would be impossible with the windshield in.

Anj - that is a great pic! Ya look sharp!

Regards, Roy

Good Morning - barely -

Mom and Jenni attended the Memorial Service and it was as good as can be.  I rang the bell in honor of those that have passed.  The service was about an hour.

Viewing tomorrow for another one of fire service family - At 70, still too young.  I'm begging to get out of here early so I can attend with the department - these f***ed up hours are horrible....

Fire Drill tonight, probably.  Dinner with Jenni after.

Thanks, Kev and Banks!

Windy and cooler in the 60s today.

That's all from here for now

Well filled all the tubes with blood yesterday and the jar. Been getting results back and so far so good. Don't have the big lab stuff but all the single tests look fine.

Nice picture Rich!

We got two drips and a drop of rain over night. Hope it don't screw up the Trimeck I put down yesterday on those yellow flowers in the grass. Bang Head

Sounds like we will have the grand-dog this weekend so the kids can go to a water park for Mother's day. Could be worse I guess.

Not a lot else.

Hello there,

Fife.....a gentle nudge and support for whatever they like.

Rich......great pic.....

Re insurance. I had State Farm all my life til a few years ago. Saved 48% by switching to better coverage on home and auto.

Busy weekend. Son got different days off, he's off  weekends, not sure how long. So , he decided to go racing Saturday nite. Did ok, top 4 in both classes. Sunday we went Hillclimbing. Not so hot there but we had a fun weekend.

Monday and Tuesday we got some much needed rain.

Yesterday the mini split arrived via freight. Surprised because it isn't very heavy. The new valve came the other day got that installed correctly this time. Giving the glue time to set so I'll fill it today. Then started to reassemble Grandson's quad engine. I managed to damage a new crankshaft bearing using to much force.  A new one is on the way

Not sure what today will bring other than Mrs and I both getting our hairs cut at 10

Best get on with the day.

Prayers for those in need and the end of this pandemic.

Good Morning - Happy Sinko de Mayo

Grey and dreary today - rain off and on 60s

Penny - as a father and fiancee to 2 artistic and amazing artists, I complement and support when needed.  Yes, you guys are different, but in a really good way.  You and my "girls" are gifted and we are the better for it.  Your work is outstanding.

Jenni wanted my picture - we paid extra for it - so since yesterday was International Firefighter's Day:

Memorial Service tonight, need to scram outta here a little early and run over to pick up Jenni, then to the outer most reaches of the county - then Friday night and Saturday more local for our fallen brother's services.  Busy week - again.

Still have not gone over to get those photos and videos of the traveling OGF car - hope to do that Thursday as I may skip fire drill, I need to get caught up on my personal stuff.  Then over to Jenni's for a bit.

OK, Back to work - I have a fire video in the background while I do report critiques - the training never stops - .....and so it goes....

Had a very good visit with Rick the Insurance guy. He learned things about us he did not know and I learned things I needed to know. Found out better ideas on train coverage and use of the John Deere Gator when I take it out of the property. He learned we had more than any program could consider. We were too much coverage on some and too little on other things. In person meetings with someone who is a "service provider" can never be replaced by a computer program and today proved that. But those 40 something’s like my kid and others think they know better about everything, but then in my 40s I knew much more than I do today. Laugh
Roy, our agent used to visit every now and then but when we moved 40 miles away, he tried to go virtual and today said that has been a mistake. All in all, I don’t see a big change in the bills but I know where I stand at least now I know why. I think a lot of what is wrong today is the we have given up the human touch. To those who like it otherwise,, go for it. Seems a shame, but goes to social media and hiding behind the keyboard.
Blood draw tomorrow for Dr apt next week. I am sure they will find something to give me a hard time for. Wink

We had plenty of rain and storms here today.  It has eased up now.

I am more than happy to have all my insurance needs/wants satisfied virtually and never have to do an in-person meeting.  I am happy we have the ability to buy cars this way too as I do not enjoy the car buying process and do not need a salesperson to tell me what I want/need.

What do you with a child that has artistic talent, but doesn't want to pursue it...?

Artists are a bit "different".  I know 'cause I'm one and I know I'm "different".  Wink  I stopped paying much attention in art class when a teacher gave me an F on a watercolor painting of Cinderella Castle I did because it was what I wanted to create with the supplies she gave me instead of what I was supposed to be doing.  Similarly, I always accepted last chair in the band because I refused to compete for my right to make music.  I just sat in the back row and played what the first chair was playing.  Whistling

Afternoon folks!

Storms last night with a little bit of actual rain at our house - other areas got a good soaking. Did not need it here. Back yard still a swamp. Did use the soft ground to pull some weeds - like it made any difference.

El Cam windshield is out. Now working on the remaining butyl rubber adhesive. Still somewhat soft but hard enough to make scraping it with a razor blade a challenge. Channel is not uniform so scraping is tedious. Very little rust!

Kev - I have never met my current State Farm agent of 20+ years - he actually declined to come out - I do have his cell - my previous agent before he passed came once a year. They make changing your agent a real pain.

Chief, I thought that was a NC politician. Laugh

Cooled way down after a sparce .2" of rain yesterday. Low 60s. It helped but we need more.

Ins man from State Farm coming over to do a review of our Ins needs. At my request. First time ever here. We have had the place 16 years.. What is wrong with this picture?

He said well we have good programs to help us know what you need. I said BS no way your program can know what we have. You just make sure you over charge to cover your a$$. Angry

Chief - You have "Sam". We have Ssssssid. And we leave Ssssssid be, as he munches on rodents, and fends off cottonmouths.

Wiped all the track down with mineral spirits yesterday.  The tube sock I used was totally black by the time I was done. Trains running good today.  However, one of the Generals threw a traction tire.

Morning.  78 and sunny.  Chance of thunderstorms later.  Got .14 inches of rain yesterday.  Mow today.  Go pickup conduit and etc. to repair deer feeder and hope make it bear proof.

Sam crossing the concrete from one of Wifey's garden to the house.  Finn walks right by him and he ignores Finn.  Finn ignores him.  Buddies.  Our only concern is all the bird houses and nests full of little ones.

Wifey off to work.

Slept till 8.  Cherry turnover for breakfast

Have a good one.

Marty - Looks like you picked a good day for the Curve. Have they finally opened up the incline, or are they still forcing folks ro hike that stairway?

Still hiking.  We would have had a couple more people with us if it was open but they can't do the stairs.

Slept till 8:30. Wifey slept later.   75 and partly cloudy. May or may not have a shower of rain this afternoon. Need rain [remember when we couldn't get it to stop raining]. Cooked red hot sausages and egg. Probably mow [growing grass and clover with it dry. Honey bees around  ].

Caddy back to dealer [yes again] for a reprograming of park assist. Probably 30 min wait.

May or may not go to Lowes and get conduit and etc. for deer feeder rebuild. Another bear[2] on Fred's camera and the one near the back road. That oneSleep did not touch feeder but was scrounging around on the ground. Could put electric fence charger on top with one of our big batteries [that is really what they are for] and screw insulators around outer bottom. Zap her if she touches the wire.

Enjoy the day.

Fife let the child pursue what they want. It's their life, but there is no problem having that child do artwork for you and hope that child sees the ability they have. Wouldn't hurt to have someone over there when that child is there and point out some work that child has done and get compliments on their work. Even if you happen to know somebody who would use their work and see if they would do it for that person. I wish I had someone around here that I could get to help from time to time.

Mornin' boys. Raining and 58 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Good day with the baby. Put together one of those floor mobiles with a keyboard thingie. I wonder if that's how church organ players got their start...?Hmm Daughter has Disney+, so I finally got to watch the Star Wars IX. Had some good moments, and some woke moments. Next...

Afternoon folks!

Nice sunny and warm today - 80's - nice after days of being 10-15 below normal.

Another slow start to my day - but gathered some energy and worked on reparing a cover to the control panel on the pool/spa heater. Plastic hinge and Texess summer heat = busted hinge. Went to ACE and got some small brass hinges and modified the cover and the control panel bezel for the hinges and SS screws. While at ACE also picked up a 4" shoulder bolt to replace the missing pivot bolt for the El Cam AIR pump. Then stopped at O'Reilly Auto and picked up some rattle can auto primer, some paint that pretty closely matches the El Cam roof, and the V-Belt for the AIR pump.

Tomorrow the auto glass guys come out to pull the windshield. Onward!....

DJ - around here the lumber stores carry garbage wood as compared to HD and Lowes - and charge more for it. To get good wood for furniture grade there are two woodworker hobbyist stores nearby (one is Rockler) - but both of these places require one to take out a loan to buy anything Stick out tongue

Hope this ain't an indication of things to come this summer. We have our first brushfire of the season already. They said someone was cutting a metal post with a grinder that started it  which just happened to be followed up overnite with 50+ mph winds. Last I heard, a couple hours ago, it was at about 3k acres and a few structures up in snoke.

70 and sunny. Mid to high 80's.

Wifey went to BoJ's for chicken biscuits this AM. Resting and doing TV Church. Could have slept later if I had known that. Last night, she said we were going to in person Church.

Award presentation was great.  Lady was in tears.

Train show was OK.  Bought small transformer for some lights at $5.  Some like it but needed cords was $25.  ??

Have a great week ahead.

Mornin' boys. Mornin' Becky. Rather balmy and sunny, temps in the 60's already. A slight breeze is wafting through the yellow-green trees. That's right, we're in hayfever Hades.

We have baby doody, or duty, today. Wifey already over nurse princess home, and she wants me to bring her breakfast afterwhile. May skip watching the Kansas race, as it's usually boring, at least to these eyes.

The Derby was pretty good, as there was a 4 horse neck-and-neck finish at the line.
