Good evening from beautiful 65°F Southern Ohio,

It was really nice out today.  Started removing the wall oven and some of the kitchen cabinets for the kitchen redo.  We’re going to repurpose several of the cabinets into the utility room so I was extra careful to avoid damage.  I also worked on the power supply for the parade float.  I took a 7 pin trailer plug and tapped onto the 12v Aux power and the ground terminals, and fed that to a 1100 watt inverter, and out comes 120 vac.  It ran a drill and circular saw so it will power several strands of Christmas lights with no problem.

Saturday we’re going to get a 8 week old puppy.  The whole family is looking forward to the new member.

Chief – Nice work

Roy – nice goatee

May God bless you and you families

Prayers for those in LA and where the storm hit.

Raining and 66. Radar shows it stopping soon. Will be an off and on rainy day. That's OK. No Wifey projects [think most are now done].

4 to 1 fight in Walmart in Rocky Mount NC. Guy tried to run away and got shot. Yes, inside the Walmart. 4 guys on the run [they know who they are]. Stupid. Guy is recovering in hospital.

Have a good one.

Afternoon team!

Ah - happy Saturday - sunny and to get quite warm in the 90's today!

The El Cam held vacuum all night :D . So today I decided to attack the 'stuck' high pressure service port Schrader valve - which I knew in advance could go horribly wrong...but I was victorious! The valve would unscrew but would not come out - I suspected either the sealing gasket (kind of a o-ring but not an "o" - more of a cone) or the lower movable valve body was hanging up. Some on-line stuff said either get a special tool - expensive - or drill it out. I decided to mimic the tool's function and used a spare 0.014" music wire (electric guitar) string. Threaded the string twice though the upper body of the Schrader, twisted the loop, and then carefully spun it while muscling it out with a short rod stuck through the two wire loops (kinda like twisting a tourniquet) - when it finally, violently, let loose I thought - un ohhh - gonna be drilling this out/removing the line from the truck - but it popped out and I could see the hardened "o" ring was badly distorted and was hanging in the threads. Pulling a new vacuum and will try some dry nitrogen for pressure later this evening assuming it holds.

As this is a train forum and  have been horribly off-topic - here is a train pic (with an El Camino Choo Choo Customs body).

OK ? Smile, Wink & Grin

Kev - gotta love A-Z Prime - adapters will be here this evening, The one I modified on the lathe is working under vacuum - will see if it holds under pressure. The A-Z ones will be on the ready!

Regards, Roy

Good evening from beautiful 65°F Southern Ohio,

We got our new puppy and he is really nice.  The breeder has been working with the puppies and he is almost house broke at 8 weeks.  The kids are nuts over the new puppy and our schnauzer seems to like him too.

Tore out more cabinets this evening.  I may start tearing out the soffits Sunday or Monday.

Roy – Good work on the AC Schrader and love the El Camino.  Isn’t that the SS front on it?

May God bless you and you families

Good Evening,

Jim, Congrats on the puppy!  You didn't mention what the breed it is, male or female?

Roy, Sure like the paint job you had done, it looks like it is brand new!  No way would I be able to do 10% of what your having to do.  I'm really impressed!

Been over at MIL's house the past couplee of days, wow is there ever a LOT of stuff there!!!  It will be a couple of quite a while before we are done for sure!  Can't believe how much we accumulate!

Watched todays Nascar race at Charolette, it was a "road course" IN the rain.  Now Nascar isn't usually asked to do much more than turn left.  But, put them on a road course, in the rain, with rain tires??  Heck they couldnt even keep the windshield wipers working!  Took awhile to watch, but it was enjoyable.

Take care all, hope those in the area of the hurricanes and storms do ok.

Good evening all,

Grandson's team came back to win 5-3 today.  Sadly, no such luck with "my" soccer girls.  Down 5-0 after 15 minutes, went on to lose 9-0.  Still most post-season wins ever and one of the best records in quite a while.  Weather was cloudy but dry and mild.  Grandson's last match is tomorrow.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Mornin' boys.  Overcast and 59 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Will head over to preggo princess castle later on, to paint some more.  Then I'll watch the Nascar race.  I agree with Don, racing in the rain (and it was a monsoon) made for interesting viewing.

Spent yesterday with Mom, whom was having a good day.  Also, got a phonecall from a childhood friend, and the three of us chatted on speaker.

After dinner, dragged my butt out to the shed and spraypainted some O-scale fencing white.  Then got a call from an old cop-shop buddy, and he informed me how bad it was with the agency these days.  I haven't missed it in 5 years.  He bought a farm nearby, that he will retire to next year, so we'll probably hang out a bit.

Wifey and I finished watching Ripper Street.  Good viewing, but not for the easily squeemish.  She watched through her fingers half the time...Laugh

Cheery oh, mates!

Slept till 9 as raining off and on.  Church on computer as raining [was to be outside].  Then caught sermon of Hayes Barton Baptist in Raleigh on TV.  Now to get going to do nothing.  Maybe Train Box tinkering.

Farms tomorrow.  Clean out stands and camper.  Finish filling feeders with corn.  Tax hearings Tuesday.

Have a great week ahead.

Mornin' All !

Fife, I have the deepest regard for the "Boys in Blue". In this day and age it is absolutely crazy, it's gone upside down.

It appears that some of the restrictions at the museum have relaxed a little bit, I emphasize the term "little". Personally I still don't see me going in for quite awhile yet. Final approval would have to come from "she who must be obeyed", after all it has been a great 55 year partnership and definitely won't risk it now.

Roy, Really sweet ride. Just makes one wonder about the electric vehicle "mandate" for the future. A friend has a Tesla and on a trip they made it sounded like a real PITA. Everything had to be planned around being able to stop at Tesla charging stations. Our Gov. Neusollini mandated that all new vehicles as of 2035 be electric only, he said internal combustion can continue on the used car market but who will be refining any fuel for them. ???

Enuff for this morning, chow time !

Good morning gang!

Well it hit 95 here yesterday - but there were cold breezes in the El Camino! And the static pressure is holding! On to the carburetor!

Dougsnotta - no worries - there will be plenty of gas and gas powered vehicles in Texess!

And a note - Dougsnotta - there was a news bite that a man in CA was so despondent over current events in CA and elswhere that he went into his garage, closed the doors and windows, and sealed the openings with duct tape. Got in his car and started it. Forgot that a friend was supposed to drop by. Well the friend shows up, no response at the front door, knows his buddy is expecting him. Walking around the house he sees his friend in the car in the garage! Calls 911, Police, Fire, and EMS show up, bust him out of the garage/car - good news! - he is fine and no ill effects! But the battery on his Tesla is dead....

Morning all.

Running on fumes today.  Daughter and family came home late last night in full noise mode.  Woke me up at 1am and never did get back to a good sleep.  I'll be dumping out of here at exactly the 9 hour mark.

Hope everyone stays safe.

Morning all

SJ don't know if you still watch hogan's Hero's but if you get the sundance channel on Saturday they run like a marathon of them.

Cloudy and calling for rain.

Train wise ran them for a while last night and I have been rearranging the trains that are on the shelves. I have two more sets on the wall that has the exit door and I want to put them on the other side of the room so I can have al my Southern trains in one place. Next will be getting all the B&M in one place together. I'm on the fence about keeping or getting rid of my A-B-A GP-9 B&M set as I probably wouldn't get what I paid for it, and it is basically brand new. It has seen shelf life and I think I ran them on a 3' when I got them home from York ( my one and only purchase when I was at york. ) just to test them.

I'm going to be selling like 10 NW2's by Lionel and 2 MP-15 by K-Line I think. Just keeping a couple.

Nothing planned for today really. Moving some trains around and I still have work to do in the shed but it's supposed to rain today. And to cut the material I need to be outside. Not enough room to do that in the shed.

With the rain we have had and there calling for, don't think it would be wise to try and cut any bushes today.

Hope all have a good day

Talk to you all later

Good Morning, guys!!  Happy Columbus Day!! I have my Italian Flag out with my American Flag!!!

I have no issue with cars and trains.......lol

Fife - I'm just glad you retired, especially now.....

People that don't know any better go for the electric cars, when, ecologically speaking, Hydrogen is much better for the enviroment - Where does the electricy come from?  Politicians are just stupid.......

So the week at my house is winding down, and, as expected, got NOTHING I wanted done, got done.  Well, maybe a little.

Friday was an early night, made Gnocchi for Jenni and Chicken strips with fries for me ( I did share).

Saturday, got up early to feed the ferals, vacuumed the house and cleaned out "my" side of the garage at Mom's.  Tossed a few boxes swept everything out and put everything off to the side.  I have 4 4 X 8 foam boards I got for free that need to make the trip to Jenni's for the proposed layout building,
I put her bike and my motorcycle out of the way.  There were some areas on the shelves that were refilled.  Much easier to get in and out of there now.  Next week, will probably get bins for dog and bird food and a bin for the peanuts (for the squirrels).  Also need to get the snow blower into thegarage and get that running.

Saturday night went out for Mom's birthday then cake after at the house.  Was in bed by 10ish.

Yesterday nothing but running around, did get some Halloween stuff and looked at the Christmas stuff (a couple of nice candidates at Lowes....)

After a Wawa dinner, I FINALLY got up to the attic, I bought some LED strips at Staples (10' for $10) multi-color with controller.  Installed on at Spooky Town and it really looks great ( a little too bright but...).  Cleaned off some of Christmas town - will need to clear off that section so I can wire up the street lights and make sidewalks.  I'm starting to consider taking a mental health day to make this happen.  I have 2+ days worth of sick time, maybe it's time to get sick....****COUGH COUGH****....

Raining now, wind and heavier rain later, thanks to our visitor from the gulf....should back off by tomorrow.

Philly Toy Run has been cancelled since the idiot mayor is concerned we'll be spread a disease - so all those needy kids don't get the toys the USMC gets through Toys for Tots......we'll figure out something else - we always make a toy donation or 2 to the Toys for Tots - my brother ran that program in north Jersey a few years back.

And the car show?  Rescheduled for next Sunday.....

Back later................

Home from the woods.  8,875 steps.  No rain.  30% guessed this AM after a night of rain.  On the way home [0% after noon guessed], poured around 4:30.  Misting here now.  They are not worth a d---.  All feeders topped off and stands ready.

WOW guys, just been looking in now and then,,,,,what the heck is going on here???????????????

Dennis,,,, “Our idiot Communist dictator in a state that has no electricity wants to force you to buy cars that run on electricity. Kind of hard for something that is years off?  Surprise

I'll be 92 by then.”   Or dead. Just move away and get over it! It is still a free country no matter what you think is right or wrong? Come on up here where it is cold, may just cool your blood down some.   Laugh

Rich, ever hear of TMI? Never see you say much about anyone else here, most likely your not interested in their stuff but wow.  Huh?   Sorry if I can’t keep up or GAS anymore than you do.

SnipWelcome welcome to the nut house, this can be a weird crowd at time. Smile, Wink & Grin

Roy, sounds like those fittings worked.  Yes

Morning all

Kevin years away? you make it sound like a decade or so when in reality it's only 4 years from now. It will be here quicker than we realize. And Dennis remark about having to switch to electric cars, I agree with his comment, CA. electric companies are a joke, If there not having a brownout, there catching the forest on fire, because they can't maintain their equipment.

I understand what the governor of CA. is trying to establish, but you have to look at the reality of doing such a thing. The cost to the public to do it. This is the same governor that wants to tax people from CA. that move out of state for ten years after there gone. The people of CA. really need to look at what this guy wants and decide if they really want to go that way, Of coarse your Liberals with $$$$$ won't care as they can afford to such a thing, but your common person it will put a strain on them, especially someone on a fixed income.

As far as TMI Kevin your not one to talk, your known to do it also in my opinion, you will get on a long spout of what all you have done over the weekend also.

End of Rant

Heeeyyyyyy, HAPPY TUESDAY!!
Kev - I guess you don't pay attention, much....I have commented on V8Vegas posts as well as Mr. Phish, Flintlock, LionRoar88 and my buddy Fife.  I've commented on Roy's posts elsewhere, which is my prerogative.  I'm not retired like you are, I have no grandkids and that's fine.  My time is not my own and that's fine as well.  If I'm a bad person because I don't comment you YOUR posts, well, I'm guessing I haven't much so say about it/them.
If it is TMI for your tastes, then please, just jump right past it.  We used to say around here, before you came in this forum, ignore, ignore, ignore.  Feel Free, please, I promise you, I won't be offended.

We have had 2" of rain last night.  My modification of the tombstones out from have been working like a charm.  Wind has been whipping across the lawn and the only casualties have been the pumpkins and ghost I put up in the trees.  I may have defeated the weather of October - FINALLY!!

Got some shopping done for Mom, so she'll be good for another couple of weeks.  The kids come home from their mini-vacation in OK tomorrow, so I'll have to tidy the house up a bit.  Planning a sick day for working on the layout, Jenni want to do the same, nice to have a partner that will help and contribute!! Weather continues to be cooler and blustery.  Already miss summer......high in the 60s this week.  Cloudy now.

That's all from Central Jersey, back later!!

Afternoon gang!

Sunny and it cooled off here nicely. Spent yesterday diagnosing my security camera system. 4 of 12 cameras blacked out. I though the cameras failed but it was the wall wart power supplies. One big wart fed 4 cameras - 2 of which were off - it was strange and I started trading cameras, suspecting bad cables, power supplies, and then saw good camera would work sometimes. Long story short - all cameras OK. The supply that fed 4 would start working with two cameras? Loaded it with a power resistor and it was fine. Tested camera draw and all within spec and supply capability. Finally figured it out and started changing supplies and all is well.

Have lawn sprinkler head to change and then maybe some work on the El Cam carb.

Docs & hospital have juggled all my appts and now I go tomorrow for tests, inc COVID test, into a short surgery procedure Friday to make sure the DaVinci surgical robot will work for me, and then assuming all OK Fri, another COVID test Sat, then in Monday for the main surgery - 6 hours...wowzers!

Dougsnotta - wow - we have the same doc! He gets around!

On the train front - I converted a K-Line Plymouth switcher to run on DC only so it will operate on a simple "back-and-forth" track at the Trains at Northpark mall holiday exhibit. Switching polarity on a can motor, two diodes on the track, and a timer on DPDT relay makes 'er go. They will open early and assign times for attendance this year due to the C-19. Glad they are making it happen as it is the Dallas Ronald McDonald House annual fundraiser.

The little switcher is a nice conversion. I removed the smoke unit and electronic e-unit board. All the lights are incandescent and there is a small power distribution board in the loco that I was able to reuse. Bonus - the board already had the diodes on it that make the front and rear headlight operate in the proper direction!

If that's what I'm thinking it is I believe I've seen the display in a TM "Toy Trains at Christmas" video.  Very impressive, to say the least!  Jaw-dropping actually!

By any chance were you in the video?

Nope - I do not usually get invited to those events.

I did all the electrical design for the project and have helped set up and and tear it down in the past. Not so involved now - too much crawling around and getting too old for that.

Dougsnotta - ah! Yes! Bwa ha ha ha haaaaa....

Morning all.  Spent the evening cleaning the bicycle.  Spending a lot of weekends on it now.  Really enjoying the rides.  Not much going on.  Checked out Mars in opposition and a really cool Venus / Moon team up this morning.

Big wigs coming into the shop today.  Everybody is on their best behavior.

Stay safe everyone.
