Mornin' boys.  Cloudy and 73 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  I predict drywall duststorm in my immediate future, with a chance of Sherwin Williams.

Delivered Youngest Princess to her college dorm apt yesterday.  No tears this time.  We did stop off at Michael's, where I was able to pick up some floral spriggs at 70% off.  $21 for dinner for two at McD's...Ick! ouch.

Not sure on Buckeye's news, but I was hoping for word on #19.

I hope cheapclassics was able to survive the weekend.

Good Morning All!

Looks like going to be a good day, (considering Covis, the fires, and storms in the Gulf area).  The weather here is comfortable, we aren't having a lot of heat, thanks to the ocean marine layer.

Enjoyed watching the Indy 500 and Nascar races over the week-end.  The Indy race finish was really exciting!

Not a lot going on this week just small chores.

Take Care all and prayers for those in need.

Just trying to get back in the groove

Saturday, the 9/11 run came through, I was on top of the Ladder for about an hour - Smokey1 was watching on Facebook...LOL

Met up with some of my friends, had lunch with them and then they headed off to Linden.  Spoke to Jenni, we'll try to do the run next year.  Looks like I'll have to invest in a big tour pack for the bike....

Sunday was at Jenni's, al fresco dining at IHOP, washed Dad's car, got pet supplies for her Guinea Pigs, shopping for her food for the week, did some excavating  in the back yard, it looks like the foundation goes down a foot or so, found what looked like a fireplace damper door frame in 2 pieces and 2 red 8 x 12 red pavers or stones in front of where the broken damper is.  After an hour of digging - and I was soaked at that point - we called it an afternoon on that.  We went back to Mom's house and fed the ferals, then dinner and an episode of Man in the High Castle.  Heard footsteps upstairs - there was something or someone up there, but no trace of anything.

About midnight Jenni called and said her new fire alarm was going off for no reason.  Found out this morning, her clock in the dining room was going off all night (it's a Regulator wind up wall clock).  She has the local paranormal group investigating at some point.  Very odd considering what's going on in the back yard.

80's and humid again today.....I'm good with it, it'll be cold soon enough.

Not to sound cavalier or uncaring but...

Seriously though, how old is Jenni's house?  I'm wondering if there was a house there prior to hers lost due to fire or neglect (or something) and the ruins that couldn't be carted off by the builders of the new house were simply buried on site.  A search of town records might give you a clue as to what's been there in the past, or maybe a local historical society might know.

Personally I don't believe in ghosts.  At least I don't think  I do.  I will admit to getting a strange "vibe" the times I've visited the stone wall at Marye's Heights on the Fredericksberg battlefield.  A Union soldiers life span could have been measured in seconds there during the height of the battle in 1862.

Back from farms.  Shooting lane cleared for new stand movement.  Fred wasn't with us so got it done and happy.  We also repaired shoot range backstop.  Did it OUR way and not Fred's.  Found Fred did not hook up battery and set timer in my deep woods feeder after he loaded it with corn.  I had gone to another feeder.   Thanks Fred.  Rule is, once you do anything to feeder, you run test.  He just put corn in and left.

These guys come about every day to check feeder even though it had been out of corn for two months.  At my deep woods stand.

Big guy is showing his butt as his buddy looks on.

A crazy horn.

Yes on Indy race.  Not done right.  Instead of red flag and restart, under yellow flag and gave it to the guy.

Later.

Good Evening from a clear 78°F Southern Ohio,

Got home from work and cut grass for about an hour.  Tomorrow I’ll cut along the drive way.  After supper shot the pellet gun for a while.  Then put some corn in the feeder.

Chief – Some nice looking bucks in velvet

Rich – The county engineers office may have information on the property

Fife – It does get easier

May God bless you and you families

Morning. 90 and humid. Going back to 90+ days and over 100 heat index. That high pressure thingy steering the hurricane away from us is bringing summer temps back. Why we went to the farms yesterday. Hurricane and tropical storm is now missing my rifle buddy in NOLA and headed to fishing buddy at T Bend. Maybe it will die like the tropical storm.

Universities here are shutting down to on-line classes. Too many virus outbreaks on campuses. Should have never opened. Forced by Republican majority legislature. Now some school systems that reopened are having outbreaks. Wake and most large districts are all on-line. Private schools have had problems but keeping it quite. Hit social media when first opened. Schools told parents to not publicize after that.

Resting up today. Rest of week full of County things. Friday may be the last produce box delivery. Depends on USDA extension of grant.

Stay safe and well.

Happy Tuesday.....

Went shopping after work last night, after which my phone took a dump and is currently booting and rebooting itself.  I set my other alarm and almost missed my 615 doctor's appointment.  And still, it keeps trying to turn itself on.  A trip to the phone store might be in order.....

Doc got blood and urine samples this AM, breathing tests completed.  Got some nose meds and next appointments for my primary on Monday and my allergist on Tuesday.  Looks like no late sleeping for me next week.

85-90 today, storms after 2, other than that no other news.

Chief - Nice Bambis......

Phish - Yeah, you would think, but our idiot Governor has shut just about everybody down.  Township offices are closed, looking for help with the historical society as they are mostly volunteers......

Last night was uneventful, so Jenni was fine.  Our family have had ghosts in our houses before, this one seems benighn.

Just a short post today - tomorrow off to West Trenton Fire for "caucus" just voting for next State Association president and a couple of other minor issues.  Normally would have voted at Wildwood but this has been cancelled  >:D .

Fife great news, more gifts to buy and kids to spoil!
 Nice bucks Chief!
Don and Dennis, good news on the car repairs, glad you got them back in shape.
So hot the brass monkey is melting. Smile, Wink & Grin
Wild weather all over and the CA fires are smoking up our sky. WTH? Confused
Hope everyone takes heed to the warnings about getting out of the path of the storms.
Monday Sandra and I took a road trip to Gridley IL to pick up a brand new, but three-year-old Triton AUT 1064 UTV trailer. Now I can haul the Gator to Wisconsin next time I go up and can also haul the Zero-turn mower if need be. Since the trailer was a 2017 I saved over $1,000 off new list price for a 2020. It is only 400lb empty and a perfect match for the Colorado and Gator 590i.
Best get!

To all,

Some thoughts on the 500.  First of all, watching on TV creates a vacuum.  Watching a race with no fans was like viewing one of the Iraces video game events that were on in April and May except the Iraces were not as costly if an accident occurred.   The yellow flag at the end was due to lack of TV time left.  Cut out the over hour of pre-race blathering that meant absolutely nothing and you might have had time for a red flag restart.  Probably would not have changed the outcome as Sato had Dixon covered.  Dixon's mistake was letting Sato get by him with 30 laps to go.  Counting on a one lap fuel advantage with the same engine as your opponent was not going to work.  Sato was GONE!  Roger Penske truly loves IMS.  Anyone hearing him before the command to start engines could tell how emotional he was.  Shortly after the start, I turned down the TV sound and had the radio on thru a phone app.  Much better information.  Foyt team had a lousy day.  TK was running a fuel conserve mode the last stint which dropped him a ton of positions.   They determined that wheel on fire was due to a locked brake from a bent brake line.  Rossi's penalty was a judgment call.  Could have gone either way.  It did take him out of contention for sure and eventually out of the race.  All this talk about being there in May won't occur unless there is a vaccine or everyone has been exposed to COVID.  Ratings were the worse ever due to August date and the constant deterioration of fan presence.  IMS has to hope for full fan participation the next time.  I went to a Silver Crown race Friday night at Lucas Oil Raceway in neighboring Hendricks County and the Silver Crowns raced on dirt in INDIANAPOLIS at the state fair grounds the night of the 500 WITH fans!!!!  So far Lucas and I are going to WWT (Gateway) this weekend to watch wheels turn (fingers crossed).  Mid-Ohio may run September 12-13 with only 10,000 fans if authorities permit (no guarantees).  Only bright light in this mess of a year is my soccer teams are all .500 or better.  I read where the Colts are planning 25% attendance.  Explain to me how you can have 15,000+ in a city block and not 75,000 on 300 acres........   I have no idea what to think about anything any more.  Congrats to Fifedog on soon to be new addition to family!  Those of you with car projects, good on you as well. I hope all of you have a good day.  I will follow the posts.  If any of my "real Football" teams win a sectional title or AJ's team gets a win, I will post that.

Got home from work and cut grass again for about an hour along the drive way.  After supper split some wood then put some corn in the feeder.

Kev– Some nice looking trailer.  At 400 pounds how does it pull empty?

Rich – Over the weekend the city workers went to repair a sinkhole in a parking lot and came upon the basement of a building that was the Yellow Cab station in the early 1900’s.  They had tore down the building then put down blacktop over the basement.

Spank – That is really neat, thanks for sharing the clip.

May God bless you and you families

Jim, I thought the same. I pulled it home empty up I39 at 77 MPH and you would not know it was there. It has a stone, (option) guard in front of it that deflects the air and any road trash down and under it. That may be a help empty, but I don't see me pulling it empty much. What I like is even my old 68 year old A$$ can just lift it on to and off of the hitch without any problem. The Gator is 1,200lb and the trailer can haul 1,800 before it is close to limit so it is all good for what I need.

The boy is already looking at ways to use it,,,,,go figure!!!   Laugh

BTW,,,,still can't log off this site, shows how much CTT cares about their users. WTH???

Laura's supposed to show up here on Saturday, or what's left of it since most hurricanes typically run out of gas once they get over land.  Lots of rain is in the forecast.

Happy Friday Eve....

Picked up Jenni and got her crickets for her frogs and then off to West Trenton.  Exchanged some pleasantries with some of my friends in the association and then off to Trains and Things.  Jenni was excited and impressed.  We bought a few small things and I inquired about a Proto 1 Blue Comet engine.  It is scale or Semi-Scale and does not match my Lionel cars.  $400....... I'd rather a Lionel but they are so very pricey....

Ran off to dinner and had a nice time.  We talked to one of the patrons during soup and he left during dinner.  He is a postal worker and a really cool dude.  Our server sat with us as well after dinner.  You would think we were the cool kids on the block, lol.

Got back and fed the frogs and the guinea pigs and was home by midnight.

Awoke to a rescue call that wasn't at 3 and finally back to sleep about 4.  May go to bike night close by if Jenni feels up to it.

Back to work

Yeah, it won't match Williams "Blue Comet" cars either if you happen to run into any of them, but they've been out of production for quite some time anyway.

$400 sounds a bit much for a Proto-1 engine, at least to me, but on the other hand that's one you don't see too often. Scale size maybe at that price, "Rail King" semi-scale I wouldn't think so. "Supply and demand" I guess. Do what you think is right.

Hey, last year I paid $350 for a Lionel CNJ Camelback, used-like-new and a 1990 (or so) production.  More than I wanted to but you just don't see them anywhere.  On the other hand several months after that I bought another Lionel Camel in NYO&W markings contemporary to the CNJ one for $250.  Go figure.

Flint - Not crazy about ANYTHING MTH but it is a nice piece.  IF I get it, that means I have to buy the rolling stock to match and that will be another significant purchase.  Probably going to repaint my repurposed 2046 to match the cars and let it go at that.  The LionChief BC I have is nice, but the engine front doesn't scream Blue Comet without the water tank and "billboard".  The Lionel Blue Comet is pricey and hard to find as well.

I am VERY pleased with the CNJ CamelBack in LionChief trim. It is one of the few that don't get taken off my layout.....

I'll tell you 'Devil, I've had very good luck with the MTH engines I've got, ten of them, and the only thing I've done to any of them is replace the battery with a BCR battery replacement capacitor, so I've no more battery worries, 45 seconds to a minute of track power and it's ready to go.  And you don't have to go full power either, 60 to 75% is good enough.  Mind you, I also run strictly conventional, I don't mess around with LionChief or DCS, just not interested.

I DO love that Lionel CNJ Camel, great runner!  The only thing I don't like is it's got red classification lights.  Not really a big deal, I just haven't gotten around to ordering green ones from Lionel yet.  The NYO&W's a great runner too!

Good Morning from a cloudy humid 79°F Southern Ohio,

Bride and one of the kids started back to school.  With the abnormal end to the previous school year and far from a normal summer, all the regular cues of transition didn’t occur.  The song “Sunrise sunset” comes to mind.

I’m off today, TGIF, and the forecast looks like rain, so my to-dos except some weeding are in the garage or house.  Towels already in the washer, work in progress.   Weeds are a callin',

May God bless you and you families

Afternoon Fellas

Life gets ahead of you and you feel like you'll never catch up! That's been me for the past 3 months. Sad

Got some very sobering news last night that I am having a very hard time wrapping my head around. My Dad told me my eldest aunt is no longer eating or drinking and is no longer able to communicate. She and my uncle celebrated their 70th wedding anniversay a couple months ago and she has pretty much let go of life since. We lost my eldest uncle a few years ago (cook on a destroyer during WWII in the Pacific Theater)... I need to get back to visit the rest of my aunts and uncles, but can't due to COVID... simply unreal all this virus has and will take from us.

Fife - HUGE Congrats on the new Fife-grandpup! You and the Fife-Mom are awesome people. Miss you guys immensely. Hoping the situation changes and we can make it out for a visit sooner rather than later.

Rich - the story about Jenny's home is both thrilling and frightening. Glad you found someone who brings a ray of sunshine and hope into your life.

DonB - any word on the El'Camino restoration? Slow down there bud... you're not a Spring Chick any longer (and neither am I).

V8 - I've been thinking of getting a cane... I don't need one, but I always though men who walked with one looked more refined, they always gave me the impression of 'class'.

Afternoon folks!

Time got away from me and forgot to post after reading the forum.

Been busy with more home cleanup projects. Have dealt with the pile of scrap wood from various projects.

Kev - nice trailer - of course your son is eying it. If I lived close - "Hey Kev - Is your trailer free this weekend! Whistling"

Dennis - I have a nice collection of wood canes that belonged to my grandmother and grandfather - when the day comes I am ready!

MikeC - the sports section writeup the next day about the yellow flag finish said they needed hours to repair some required device at the entrance to pit road that got run over (or something) and the wait would be too long to have just 3 or 4 laps left.

Regards, Roy

Killer heat today, 98 and dew points in the upper 70s,,killer weather.
As life would have it the heat-off-cool switch went bad in the shed thermostat so the smart guy I am,,,I sprayed some contact cleaner on it yesterday and bingo it worked. BUTTTT this morning I find the cleaned fussed all the plastic parts and destroyed the 29-year-old thermostat from our second house in Plainfield. Bang Head So today was replace with new and re-wire the freeze protection by-pass that Roy helped me make for it years ago. Yes What a PITA. But with all that still a better day than I had 30 years ago today.
You know, many people talk of all they have gone through in this life and that is good. 30 years ago today my wife and daughter went through something in less than five minutes that far exceeds what many will see in a lifetime. The Plainfield tornado of 1990. They survived, many did not. So it can always be worse. Angel
Spank, you could save some time in the heat of the attic if you just throw that junk out before you put it up there. I would bet once something gets put up there it will never be touched again! Laugh Least that is the way it has been for us. Nothing in this attic and never will be. Why we have a dumptser. Wink
