Doug M., it is fine. Found it on through the add from one of the biggies [forget which one] in CTT. Since I had so many double stacks, needed a crane to unload them. Now if I did not spend so much time on this computer, might get real layout going. [;)]

Hi Laz, I used the 4x8 grass rolls by LifeLike. It's not v. realistic - essentially colored sandpaper - but the price was right for 7 I needed (about $9 a roll.) They were easy to find - at Hobby Lobby and other craft stores. Depending on what you are looking to do, I'd recommend taking a peek at rolls of felt or fake fur. They're easier to make look more realistic. The ballast isn't glued. It's part of a huge bucket-full I swept up off the end of the driveway and cleaned. It all looked much better before I moved the track around when wiring, but it's pretty easy to sweep up into a better-looking profile.

After looking at all of the great pics, I felt like improving the area of yesterdays post. Ok, I'm sick of looking at pink too. And while it's not quite there yet, I think it's much better now.
