It was nice to speak with the train crew (engineer,brakie, and conductor/COO). Nothing new to report, but there are new bundles of ties on property.

Saturday night my neighbor called me over to his place. I picked up a nice breach action single shot 4-10 with 5 boxes of shells for $100.00 from a friend of his. It is a Rossi Youth from 2007. Looks like it has never been shot. Good gun to train the kids with.
They got Alice in the morgue Thursday night late but I am not sure when they will pick her up to do the cremation yet? Have not got a call from BIL so we will call him later today. Once that is done her next move will be to the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery that is in the northwestern area of the former Joliet Army Ammunition Plant, approximately 50 miles south of Chicago. She will be with her husband Gene then.
Took the old mower to my sisters on Saturday and dropped it off for her to have. Almost was to wide to fit through the gate. Had to make some changes so it would fit so she can get it to the front yard.
Pension pay day so off to the store for supplies today.

Sun and high 80s today. I'm very happy to report that No Snow is in today's forecast. Just back from Great Clips, got both hairs trimmed then sat in the chair an extra 5 minutes to get my moneys worth.

Gee its July already!
Didn't hear about the train wreck in National City, wonder where it was bound for.
Further evidence of the dumb voters here, last Nov there was a recall on the ballot to undo the .12/per gallon gas tax, it was worded so a Yes meant No, and it also permitted an additional .056/per gallon effective July 1. So now that it is hit gas is as high as $4.59 for regular! News crews interviewing people at the pump, and NO one has acknowledged they voters approved it! Calif has the highest state tax in the country.
A positive thing.... (History, in 2017 MIL went to store and ran into the "Handicap Parking Sign". As a result there car was totaled. So FIL decided to lease a replacement vehicle for 3 years. There car insurance went up to over $4500/year as a result of accident and ages. She hasn't driven the leased car in probably 2 years. (Chris used it to put some miles on it driving it to the mine). So with the lease payment, and insurance, it was costing her over $500/month to sit in their driveway. It took awhile but finally convinced her, that needed to get rid of it. (No one in the family wanted it.) So, I was concerned would probably have a "buy out" cost of $1k or so. Took it to CarMax and ended up with a $350 refund check!!! Wow, that was great!! The reason was the car only had 15,000 mi on it. But all in all everyone wins! No lease payment, insurance payment. And a much safer situation for her. Her memory has gotton so bad, she would never find her way home. Just had to share some positive news!

Thank the politicians for the gas/registration tax repeal being defeated. They actually changed the name of the proposition so it sounded as if it was to stop highway and road construction/improvement. Unfortunately the vast majority of voters( legal/illegal?) don't bother to read any of the analysis let alone the actual proposition. But to add insult to injury the idiots in Sacrodemento are trying to find ways to either void/modify or totally eliminate the public proposition from the Cally Constitution. Eventually the state government will collapse from the existing debt and the additional debt that will come as a result of new and upcoming policies. Middle income residents are leaving here in droves, an excellent gauge of the population shift is check out the cost of a rental truck to leave Cally is relly high. But if that same truck is inbound to Cally it is cheaper than dirt.

Well I was pissed off today because they doubled the gas tax here starting today till I saw this stuff from you guys out there on the left coast. IL tax on gas is now $.38 a gal, up from $.19. Also here is some more on high gas taxes.

Doug, V8Vega, I usually don't look in on this particular thread not having much to say, but today I did.
Personally, I think it's going to be a toss-up as to which state goes bankrupt first, New Jersey or California. Both seem to be mirror images of each other, high taxes, state spending out of control, to say nothing of hostility to gun owners, and the most productive people throwing up their hands and leaving.
We left New Jersey 32 years ago for all the above reasons, and then some.
Yep, one of these days either NJ or California are going to "Go Detroit" on a grand scale. You know what? It might just be the only way the messes are going to get cleaned up. What a shame.
Middle income people leaving in droves? What that means is eventually NJ and CA will have a population of the super-rich, who can live wherever they want, a service class to support the super-rich, and a permanent underclass. If that sounds familiar go to the head of the class! It's ancient Rome before the fall!

V8, I'd try another Internet provider. The Wi-Fi we've got works perfectly, has done so for years, the only time we don't have it is when there's a power failure.
It did go out once when we had power, and once only. A crew was working on a local network hub. Didn't last long though.

USA! USA! USA! Ok, everybody raise your hands who watched that match today. Our "all American" ladies playing that "all American" sport made it to the finals again. Guranteed they will bring home some bling. I do not know how long it will take for the world to catch up to us (and the margin is getting closer), but I will enjoy it for as long as it lasts. Oh, mowed the yard today. 2.5 hours in the heat and humidity. Sweated more than I ever did in New Mexico. Ugh Ugh Ugh. Used the small mower as it was so tall. Found out we had a tie rod going bad on the Encore. Ugh. More money. I hope everyone has a good day.

When I have had trouble with provider modem/wifi it has required resets - what your provider is likely doing remotely - you can do it yourself by pulling the power to their modem, count to ten, and let it reset/resynchronize itself. The internet providers obviously buy a LOT of home modems/routers and they are built in bulk with quality - particularly their firmware/software - not a watchword.

Mornin' boys. Cloudy and 72 in Fifedom. The gals took the grandson to DelGrosso's water park yesterday, and I stayed back here and putz'd around all day.
The BTS boxcar kit is coming together nicely, and the boy (7) is being surprisingly patient with the laser kit. We will probably finish it today, and scenic the front edge of the layout where it will be prominantly displayed. I started the plaster strip/hard-shell scenery on the new ridge, and I will turn him loose on the rest.

Evening all. Got a PRR PA-1 AA in tonight. I need to test it out yet. Only problem it has TMCC and my TMCC and LegacyL are all packed up somewhere in about 20 big tubs. Which one is the problem. If I do remember correctly it's like in the back on the bottom lol. Not going there. I will just test it in conventional and be happy with that.
Good 4th of July eve, I have been simi grounded for about a week waiting for more info about wheather I should drive or not. Not because of meds but because of a delicate bone condition due to the cancer. The oncolologist said I should guard agins any kind of injury, i.e. getting in and out of cars, etc. I can't live like that. I will take reasonable approches to stuff but that's all I can do. I'm still waiting to find out just how delicate the bones are. My sister lasted 6 years with it and drove for most of the time. To sum up, there are still a lot of unswered questions from Doc. and Lab. Everybody is waiting until after the 4th to do anything. Meanwhile, I have to decide what kind of home health care I can get. I need some help with day to day chores and cooking. Really need to be evaluated by someone who knows what is going on. I still have two years of paid up home or facility health care available so I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on that. I pulled a dumb stunt today. I lost my balance and leaned on the bathroom sink knocking it off the wall. Fourtunatly, none of the water connections were broken. It is attached to some kind of track I think. and I got it back on but now I don't trust it. Need to get a plumber or somebody to fix that. Also need to get the swimming pool guy on my street to take over that job. Don B. says he has one too. Lots of chores piling up, so little energy or time. Hope they have a nice enough parade in Washington to justify the cost. I can only think of two we had in the past. One after the end of the Civil War and the other after WWII. What is this one for?

been a busy week. Worked on hay from noon till after 11 on Monday. After baleing we got as much as we could squeezed into the shed.
Tuesday was appointments and pulled more stuff out of the shed and added more hay. Ended up with 40 bales inside. That left 50+ still in the field for sale at giveaway price.
Yesterday another appointment, a visit with Mom, and loading some of the hay mentioned above.
Have 10 lb of wings in brine for this evening. Wings and fireworks with the clan.
All this while prepping for our annual trip to da beach.
Best get on with the day.

Happy 4th of July boys. Burgers and dogs on the grill this afternoon. Storms may hinder fireworks tonight. Bear stayed away last night. Instead there is a kitten lounging out front of Fifedom. FifeMax is kept out back. In the grand scheme of things, rather have the bear....
The grandson and I finished the boxcar kit, and we will prepare it's spot today along the layout edge. He also applied plaster strips for the first time, and was very proud of his work. Then he asked to set up a loop of track on the carpet, and ran a military train. FifePops gave him a Railking DODX searchlight car to bring up the markers.
Happy 4th of July all. No real plans for us. I will be putting on the head-phones later and cranking the music up. Seems to work for me.
We will do a roast in the oven today, as we are not really into burnt offerings. :)

Everything doing well here, not much drama, YEA! The weather has warmed up some, but not sure if its going to hold. Early yet.
Ray, good to hear from you! Yep, I have a pool maintenance guy, he takes care of the chemicals, and the pool has been sparkling clear for years. He is only here for about 5 minutes a week, but it is worth it to me. ($40/month).
I'm not sure about the parade in DC either, seems a little self gratifying to me.
I think I have the furniture I've been working on, ready for paint. Its only taken me 3 days of sanding, but it looks good so far.
Might go to Lake Perris and see some dirt car racing tonight, I enjoy the track even though it 60 miles away. They are having some special races tonight which may be comical to watch.
I don't think this configuration is a result of the high gas prices here, but you never know. You might be able to notice there is a driver in each car. I believe the guy on the bottom steers, while the one on top has the brake and accelerator. (It could be vice-versa). By the way this is not a Nascar sanctioned event.
Fireworks have really been restricted a lot here, many cities are prohibiting them, to the tune of $1,000 to $2,000 fines. But I'm sure there will be reports in tomorrows morning news about various accidents.
